14 Bible Verses on Being Persecuted

14 verses

Following Jesus often results in opposition and hardship, as the Bible teaches that those who live godly lives will face persecution. In the book of Matthew, Jesus warns His disciples that they will be hated and persecuted because of Him, but promises that those who endure will be blessed. The Gospels, including Matthew and Mark, record Jesus' teachings on the inevitability of persecution for His followers, with Matthew 5:10 and Mark 13:13 emphasizing the importance of perseverance. The apostle Paul also writes about this reality in 2 Timothy 3:12, encouraging believers to stand firm in the face of adversity.

Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
You will be hated by everyone because of My name, but the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.
You will be hated by everyone because of My name, but the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.
That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!”
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse.
If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first.
Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man.
if all this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
