Listen to freely downloadable audio sermons by the speaker Ralph Venning in mp3 format. Ralph Venning was an English nonconformist Christian. The son of Francis and Joan Venning, he was born in Devon, perhaps at Kingsteignton, about 1621. He was the first convert of George Hughes, the puritan vicar of Tavistock. He was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he was admitted as a sizar on 1 April 1643, graduated B.A. 1646, and proceeded M.A. 1650.

He held a lectureship at St. Olave's Church in the parish of Southwark St. Olave, where he had a great repute as a preacher of charity sermons. Ejected by the Uniformity Act 1662, he became a colleague to Robert Bragge, pastor of an independent congregation at Pewterers' Hall, Lime Street, Fenchurch Street, and held this charge till his death.

Take Heed of Sinning in Thought by Ralph Venning

Topic: Audio Books
Scripture(s): Matthew 12:35
Description: (Excerpts from Ralph Venning’s book - The Sinfulness of Sin (Printed in 1669), read by Ryan Martin. Seeing that sin is so sinful, it is evil even to be a thinking sinner, or a sinner though only in thought. It is too commonly said that thoughts are free. They are indeed free in respect of men, who cannot judge us for them, but God can and will. Many people who seem to be modest and sparing as to evil words and deeds will still make bold with thoughts and, as the saying is, pay it with thinking. Such are speculative, contemplative sinners.
