Vocation Purpose

1 sermons

Vocation and purpose are deeply intertwined in the biblical narrative, revealing God's sovereign plan for humanity. As seen in Romans 9:20, we are reminded that God is the ultimate authority over our lives, shaping our paths according to His divine will. The Scriptures affirm that each person is created with intention, as articulated in Ephesians 2:10, where Paul writes that we are 'God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.' This highlights that our vocations are not merely jobs but divine callings that contribute to His greater purpose. Furthermore, in Colossians 3:23-24, believers are encouraged to work heartily, as if for the Lord and not for men, emphasizing that every task, no matter how mundane, can be an act of worship when done with the right heart. Jesus also teaches in Matthew 5:16 that our good works should shine before others, pointing them to glorify our Father in heaven. Ultimately, understanding vocation through a biblical lens invites us to see our lives as part of God's grand design, encouraging us to pursue our callings with diligence and faithfulness.
