Vessels
In the Bible, the term "vessels" is used metaphorically to refer to individuals or objects that are set apart for a specific purpose, often in a spiritual or divine context. The word can denote physical containers, such as those used in the Tabernacle (Exodus 25-27), symbolizing the sanctity and separation of items dedicated to God's service. For instance, the vessels in the Temple, made of gold, silver, or bronze, were designed for various ceremonial uses, underscoring their importance in worship.Additionally, "vessels" can refer to people, especially in the context of being chosen or appointed by God. In 2 Timothy 2:20-21, Paul uses the metaphor of vessels to illustrate that believers can be "vessels for honorable use" if they cleanse themselves from dishonor. This indicates that one’s character and actions can determine whether they are fit for God's purposes. Similarly, in Acts 9:15, God refers to Paul as a "chosen vessel" to carry His name before the Gentiles. Thus, in biblical terms, vessels signify both the physical implements of worship and the individuals whom God calls and uses for His divine plan.
