The Blood

2 sermons

The significance of the blood in Scripture is profound and multifaceted, representing both sacrifice and redemption. In Exodus 12:13, God instructs the Israelites to mark their doorposts with the blood of a lamb, declaring, "When I see the blood, I will pass over you." This act of faith not only spared them from judgment but also foreshadowed the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, whose blood was shed for the sins of humanity (John 1:29). The New Testament reinforces this theme, as seen in Hebrews 9:22, which states, "without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins." Through His sacrificial death, Jesus established a new covenant, as articulated in Matthew 26:28, where He proclaims, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." Furthermore, Revelation 12:11 highlights the power of the blood in spiritual warfare, stating, "They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony." Thus, the blood serves as a powerful symbol of atonement, protection, and victory, inviting believers to reflect on its significance in their faith journey.
