Serving The Lord

2 sermons

Serving the Lord is a profound calling that encompasses our entire lives, reflecting our devotion and commitment to God. As Paul writes in Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward." This verse emphasizes that our service is not merely about meeting human expectations but is ultimately directed towards God, who sees our hearts and intentions. Jesus exemplifies this servant-heartedness in His ministry, teaching His followers to love and serve others selflessly, as seen in Matthew 20:28, where He states, "the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Furthermore, serving the Lord involves using our gifts and talents for His glory, as articulated in 1 Peter 4:10, which encourages believers to use their diverse gifts to serve one another. In this light, the act of service becomes a manifestation of our faith, as James 2:17 reminds us that faith without works is dead. Thus, serving the Lord is not only an act of obedience but also a vital expression of our love for Him and for others, fulfilling the commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31).
