Rule Of God
The "Rule of God," often referred to as the "Kingdom of God," encompasses the divine sovereignty and governance of God over creation and human affairs. In biblical terms, this rule signifies both a present reality and a future hope. In the New Testament, Jesus frequently preached about the Kingdom of God, emphasizing its nearness and the call for repentance (Mark 1:15). The Kingdom is characterized by God's authority, where His will is done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). This rule is established through the life and ministry of Jesus, who exemplified the values of the Kingdom — love, mercy, justice, and peace. The Rule of God is also understood as an invitation for individuals to live under God's authority, aligning their lives with His purposes. In Luke 17:20-21, Jesus states that the Kingdom of God is "in the midst of you," indicating that God's rule is not only a future event but also a present reality that invites believers to participate. Furthermore, the concept of God’s rule extends to eschatological themes, where scriptures like Revelation 11:15 proclaim the ultimate reign of God when “the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah.” Thus, the Rule of God invites believers to acknowledge His sovereignty now and anticipate its fullness in the future.
