Jesus Intercedes

1 sermons

Jesus' intercession is a profound theme woven throughout Scripture, illustrating His role as our mediator and advocate before the Father. In Hebrews 7:25, we are reminded that He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, as He always lives to intercede for them. This divine intercession is not merely a passive act; it is a powerful engagement in our spiritual battles, as seen in Romans 8:34, where Paul asserts that Christ Jesus is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. The significance of this role can be traced back to the Old Testament, where the high priest would bear the names of the tribes of Israel on his shoulders and heart, as described in Exodus 28:6-9, symbolizing their representation before God. Jesus fulfills and transcends this role, as He not only represents us but also offers Himself as the ultimate sacrifice, ensuring our access to the Father (John 14:6). In times of weakness, we find comfort in knowing that the Holy Spirit also intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express (Romans 8:26). Thus, the intercessory work of Jesus assures believers of His unwavering support and the promise that no accusation can stand against us, as affirmed in Romans 8:33.
