Introspection

Introspection, while not a term explicitly found in the Bible, refers to the examination of one's own thoughts, feelings, and motivations. This concept is reflected in various biblical passages that encourage self-reflection and self-examination. For instance, 2 Corinthians 13:5 urges believers to "examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves." This call for self-examination suggests that individuals should assess their spiritual condition and alignment with God’s will. Moreover, Psalm 139:23-24 expresses a heartfelt plea for divine insight into one's inner thoughts: "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." This passage highlights the importance of inviting God into the introspective process, recognizing that true understanding of our hearts and motivations often requires divine guidance. Introspection in the biblical context serves as a means of spiritual growth, repentance, and a deeper relationship with God, emphasizing the need for humility and awareness of one's own shortcomings.
