Economists
The term "economist" as understood today—referring to a professional who studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services—does not appear directly in the Bible. However, the underlying principles of economic behavior can be observed throughout biblical texts. The Bible addresses various aspects of economics, including stewardship, resource management, and ethical considerations in trade and labor. For instance, the concept of stewardship is prominent in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), where servants are entrusted with their master's resources, emphasizing the responsibility to manage and multiply what has been given to them. Additionally, the book of Proverbs offers practical wisdom regarding wealth and poverty, highlighting the importance of diligence (Proverbs 10:4) and fair dealings (Proverbs 11:1). The biblical narrative encourages a balanced approach to wealth, cautioning against greed and promoting generosity (1 Timothy 6:10; 2 Corinthians 9:7). While the term "economist" is not used, the Bible provides foundational ethical and moral principles that can inform economic thought and behavior.
