Christendom
The term "Christendom" does not appear in the Bible, as it is a concept that emerged later in Christian history to describe the collective body of Christians and the nations or societies that are influenced by Christianity. It generally refers to the cultural, political, and religious landscape that has been shaped by the teachings and legacy of Jesus Christ and the Christian faith. In a biblical context, the closest concepts would be found in passages that discuss the Kingdom of God, which Jesus preached about during His ministry (e.g., Luke 4:43; Matthew 4:17). The Kingdom of God encompasses the reign of Christ in the hearts of believers and the establishment of His authority in the world. Passages like Matthew 28:19-20, where Jesus commands His followers to make disciples of all nations, can also be seen as a foundational call for the establishment of a Christian society or community, which later evolved into what is collectively known as Christendom. The New Testament emphasizes the unity of believers in Christ (Ephesians 4:4-6), laying the groundwork for a community that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries, which is a key aspect of Christendom.
