Christ Lordship

1 sermons

The lordship of Christ is a foundational theme in the New Testament, emphasizing His supreme authority over all creation and His role as the head of the Church. In Colossians 1:17, it is stated that "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together," underscoring the preeminence of Christ in both the natural and spiritual realms. As believers, we are called to acknowledge this lordship in our lives, as expressed in Romans 10:9, where Paul writes, "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." This declaration is not merely a statement of faith but a commitment to live under His authority. Furthermore, Ephesians 1:22 affirms that God "placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body." This relationship illustrates that the Church, as the body of Christ, is to function in unity and obedience to its head. Jesus Himself teaches in Matthew 28:18 that "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me," reminding us that His lordship encompasses every aspect of our lives. Embracing Christ's lordship transforms our understanding of discipleship, calling us to submit to His will and reflect His character in our daily lives.
