Because, while he was zealous for my sake, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. You know, when the people of Israel were humbling themselves, because there had come compromise into their midst. What was this compromise against which they had been warned? They were warned that they should not agree to anything. Then, by their God, the third verse, Israel joined themselves to Baal-peel. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. And God wanted the leaders to bear the punishment. To modern minds, it might sound like a very severe sentence. Because we want to play with the holiness of God. It has become commonplace for Christians to make light of the things of God. You know, if you go to some church business committees, you will think it is a bazaar. Everybody talking, everybody shouting. And everybody questioning, why was so much money spent? Where is money for an evangelistic campaign? Anybody feels he has a right to talk. But in this fellowship, we have had the fear of God. Presumptuous talk was rewarded by God. Today is the day of democracy. One of these nights, I will speak of the effects of the earliest democracy. When everybody voted against the promised land. My dear friends, to talk what you do not know. To talk indirectly or directly against God's command. You have just heard of a television broadcast for that small nation of Guyana. Any television endeavour is a very expensive thing. And huge sums of money have to be paid every month. Any of those stations will bear witness that our payment is correctly on time. A station manager told me in America, I will not mention the names of the big preachers who do not pay on time. But you are always prompt. We teach people not to owe anything to any man. Which means, we have to do that first. I do not know how many of you are deep in debt or whatever. And you are giving enormous sums as interest on your borrowings. And you have never given God a fraction of what you are giving those people who lent you that sum. So, we see that there are many things which are incongruent. A little compromise here, another compromise there. A little pride here, another little proud step there. One little airing of your demurrings and another airing of your grumblings. You think that is the way of faith? No. What does it plainly say? You have a cold icy heart. You are not jealous for the things of God. You know my dear friends, I do not allow anybody to tie my hands. As long as God keeps me alive, then these weak hands can be used for God. I will do whatever I can. Many of you are stronger than me.
