Gospel of Matthew chapter 27. I remember a man was preaching at the Midland Conference and he had come in late, didn't hear the announcement that the meeting was supposed to close at 4.30 and we had to use other methods to get him down. I could tell from what he read it was going to be a long one.
This is going to be a short one. Matthew 27 please, verse 11. And Jesus stood before the governor and the governor asked him saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
Verse 22, Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? Imagine meeting him. Imagine standing face-to-face, eye-to-eye with Jesus. Imagine the issues if you have to.
Just stop and think for a moment. Jesus stood before the governor. The governor didn't seem to recognize that he was standing before the king.
Maybe just as a little word at the close of this afternoon meeting. Do you realize that you're standing before the king? Pilate said, Art thou a king then? You might well ask, Are you the one who died for me? You might well ask, Are you the one who shed his blood that I might be redeemed? Are you the one who showed such compassion and care? Are you the one who was willing to die in my stead? Because today each of us is standing before him. The same question that was asked that day is a question that could be asked today.
What shall I as a believer, what shall I as one who's been saved by grace, what shall I as one who has known redemption, Lord, what shall I do then with Jesus? We sang about it. We sang that truth. We sang about how I must give myself to him.
What will you do with Jesus? What will he be in the days ahead? What will he be to you today? Will you lay down your life for him? Will you give your moments and your days? Will you let them flow before God in ceaseless praise? Will you allow him to use you? To mold you and shape you? Will you let him be your Lord? What shall I do then with Jesus? He's standing before you, waiting for your response. What will you do with Jesus? May God bless his word.
