I want to give you my testimony, friends, about a big God. The devil had his cards stacked up against me. I grew up in a godless home that was haunted.
And my father was an agnostic. And my grandfather was a mob boss. Then a pastor across the alley by the name of Clem Deer got a burden on his heart for my soul.
This man wouldn't let me go to hell. He prayed for me. Well, he prayed the very first prayer for me that I ever heard drop from a person's lips.
He gave me my first job in his Bible bookstore. He gave me my first Bible. He was instrumental in my being part of a revival meeting where the Canadian evangelist, Ernest W. Wakefield, preached the gospel of the cross to me.
And I got saved that night as a 13-year-old boy. And get this, friends, in 56 years later, as an old man, a sovereign God dropped the recording of that evening from December 1968 of that revival meeting into my lap. And I listened once more to the preaching of the gospel that saved me.
I heard myself sing as a 13-year-old boy the hymns we sang about the power of the blood. They remarked believing on that recording. I even heard myself cough as I had a chronic asthmatic cough as a teenager.
My God is a dynamite God who does super-duper things. He can secretly record an event in the past and 56 years later hand you that recording just to prove he is a sovereign ruler over all things.
