Well, it's good to be here tonight friends and the title of my message is Jesus is able to save even you. My text is important because it's loaded with God's truth. It can be found in the book of Hebrews.
We will be in chapter 7 and verse 25. Here now is the word of God and may the spirit of the Lord attend the reading of his holy word. Wherefore he is also able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him.
Well, there are several aspects to this verse I want to bring before us this evening friends. First, the blood of Christ is completely entirely wholly sufficient to save you. He is able because he paid the price for sin on Calvary when he suffered and died on a bloody cross bearing the curse and becoming sin for us.
Secondly, he saved to the uttermost. The Greek word for uttermost is the word panteles which means complete, whole, entire. When Jesus saves you to the uttermost that means he saves you both from the penalty of sin and from the power of sin.
This is seen in the word redemption. When I was a young man years ago I visited the ancient ruins in the city of Ephesus which is now modern Turkey. There I took a walk until I found an old marketplace which in the days of the apostle Paul was a public market where you bought and sold items.
It was a place where slaves were bought and sold. It was called an agora. Now the Greek word for redemption is agorazo which has that word agora in there and it means Christ entered the marketplace of sin and bought us by his blood on Calvary's cross.
This means Christ saves us from the penalty of sin. He bore the curse becoming sin for us. The next word for redemption is the word ecagorazo.
That little participle ec means to take out of, to remove something out of a place. So ecagorazo means that Christ not only entered the marketplace of sin and redeemed us by his blood but he took us out of that marketplace of sin by saving us from the power of sin. Do you see friends how Christ saves to the uttermost? How great is this salvation in Christ Jesus.
Thirdly he saves all that come to God by him. Jesus declared I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the father but by me. Jesus hung on a bloody cross for sinful man.
I get saved friend when Christ's life is laid down for me and applied to me. Jesus saves to the uttermost all that come on to God by him. He is the door.
He is the straight gate. He is the narrow way. You must come to him and believe on him.
You must take your place at the cross as lost sinner and lay down your sin burden. Throw down your shotgun of rebellion in repentance towards God and faith in his dear son Jesus. Jesus has a promise to all who come in repentance confessing they are sinners and own him as savior and lord.
Listen to what he says friend. And him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Listen to me friend.
God may be dealing with you right now by troubling your soul and showing you your need of a savior from sin. The Lord Christ is the only remedy and refuge for sin. Jesus is the pearl of great price worth selling all for so he may be gained.
You come to him friend. Come and surrender to this wonderful savior Jesus. Listen you can be the biggest sinner in this town tonight and Jesus can still save you if you come to him.
You know you've been on the run from God. You know you've been going in the opposite direction of God. Don't you think it's time friend to do it about face and to turn to God to seek him and to throw up your white flag of surrender to this loving patient forbearing God who's been working in you.
Don't delay friend. So great is salvation. Wherefore he is also able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him.
He was able to start the world turning. All was dark but he made the skies blue. With a breath he started men to living.
Now he's able to save even you. Was he able to stop Pharaoh's army when the horsemen and chariots overthrew? When the waters came crashing upon them. Now he's able to save even you.
Was he able to come here as a baby? Was it something that he must needs do? Was he able to give himself a ransom? Now he's able to save even you. Was he able to ascend back to heaven with a promise to make all things new? He is able to come back in glory. Now he's able to save even you.
