Once a guilty sinner is awakened to his lost condition, he must have confidence enough in the promises of the gospel to come to Christ for pardon for sin. He must see that there is faithfulness in God who extends the offer in the gospel, and that there is safety in coming to Christ, that Christ is the refuge to flee from the wrath of God for sin, that the fury of the storm of God's wrath is quenched by the blood of Christ, that the guilt of sin was translated to Christ, that the law has been executed on Christ for the atonement is made, and God is reconciled to the sinners who come to the Son of God for forgiveness and pardon of sin, that all the gracious promises of the gospel are true, such as in him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out, that there is enough sufficiency in Christ to receive eternal life to all who believe in him, that Christ himself became a sin sacrifice for us as a substitute for sin, as 2 Corinthians 5.21 declares, for he hath made him to be sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him, that Christ the Redeemer has borne the curse as seen in Galatians 3.13, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us, for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree, that there is both safety and sufficiency in cometh to Christ, because he made himself an offering for sin, and fully satisfied the justice of God, that Christ bought us with a price, and that of his own blood, Christ is the refuge for sin, because God declares that the blood of Christ itself is both remedy and refuge for forgiveness of sin, in whom we have redemption, through his blood the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace, that the offer of Christ in the gospel has pardon and salvation to all who come to him and believe on him, that the gospel invitations are to the hungry, the weary, and the thirsty, as seen in Isaiah 55.1, aho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money, come ye, buy and eat, yea, come buy wine and milk, without money and without price, and in Revelation 22.17, and the spirit and the bride say come, and let him that hear say come, and let him that is a thirst come, and whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely, that the calls of the gospel are good news to mankind, they are to accept Christ as he is offered, for when a man receives Christ, he takes him as his Lord, as well as his Savior, that the preciousness of Christ is great, and greatly to be desired, for he is the pearl of great price, worth selling all for, and losing all for that he may be gained, let us pray.
