God lives and works today. He wants to show himself as the God who does wonders, especially in the lives of those who belong to Him. However, He can only do this under one condition.
What is this condition? It has to do with a very special Christmas secret. Today's program shares how one person discovered this secret and found the way to a really happy Christmas. For a long time I had heard the words of Philippians 2 verse 8. He, that is Jesus, humbled himself and was obedient unto death.
But the words had never sunk in. Then one Christmas Eve, Mother Basilea spoke to us about the text of Hebrews 2 verse 7. Thou didst make him for a little while lower than the angels. This verse and the secret of Jesus' humility became the focus of our entire Christmas celebration.
One sister put the words to music and we sang them over and over again. I had always been an ambitious person, but now the Holy Spirit revealed to me personally the secret of Jesus' humility. I saw Jesus, who had shared the glory of the Father and who was Lord over all men and angels, now lying as a child surrounded by animals in a stable in Bethlehem.
A few days before this, I had come into an embarrassing, humiliating situation. Time and again something in me reared up against being humbled. However, on this particular Christmas Eve, the Holy Spirit showed me Jesus' humility in a new light as something worth longing for.
He taught me that Jesus, who humbled himself and became our brother, is actually closest to us in those moments when we too stand humbly before God and man. I was overwhelmed. A love and joy burst forth in my heart.
I rejoiced about being humbled. How grateful I am that the Holy Spirit so personally revealed to me this secret of Jesus' humility. Perhaps you too are being led along ways that are humiliating for you.
If so, these words may be a help. Choose willingly ways which give you no freedom and breathing space to live any longer according to your own wishes. On this narrow path, you will find all that your heart truly longs for.
On this path, you will find fulfillment for your life. For here you will find Jesus, who is life in the fullest satisfaction. Whatever you will, I say.
