God lives and works today. We can see this especially in the fact that he is fulfilling the prophecies about the end time, which Jesus spoke 2,000 years ago. For now we are living in the nuclear age.
The last times have truly begun. What does this have to do with each one of us? Listen to the answer in today's meditation by Basilea Schlink. Physicists clearly tell us that we've arrived at a time like no other, of which it's been prophesied that catastrophes brought about by the hands of men will come upon the whole earth.
The time is near when Jesus' words in Luke 21 about the last times are coming true. Men will faint with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. In such a time when destruction threatens the whole world, we can't live as if the times were normal.
There can be no middle of the road anymore for us, in which we can live by cheap grace in a self-satisfied Christian life. Judgment will not hesitate to overtake us unless we free ourselves of every earthly tie and not only link ourselves with Jesus, but give our lives over to Him completely, unless we are fully obedient to God's commandments, to His word and to His will. We are deciding by the way we live now how we will live through that time of disaster.
1 Corinthians 15 speaks about the sounding of the last trumpet, when the Lord will come again in glory and change us in the twinkling of an eye. Will we belong to those whom He will call out of the destruction of this age? The decision is up to us. When deed is precious, use time well, God's word still warns you that you may prepare your way for your heavenly wedding day.
When the trumpet sounds at midnight, only those will hear it whose hearts are attuned to it. These are they who really love Jesus, who wait for Him, whose hearts are ever with Him and whose lives are surrendered to Him. They will be called up to Him when He appears in glory.
The holy hour is coming, when from the heavenly throne God's Son, who was incarnate, will come to claim His throne. O live then for His advent, the trumpets glad declare, to tell the bright, He's coming, the glorious day is here.
