The Failure of Modern Christianity - 1
Zacharias Tanee Fomum

Zacharias Tanee Fomum (1945–2009). Born on June 20, 1945, in Bamenda, Cameroon, to Presbyterian minister Solomon Tanee and Rebecca Angum, Zacharias Tanee Fomum was a Cameroonian evangelist, author, and professor who founded the Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI). Raised in a devout family, he converted to Christianity on June 13, 1956, fully surrendered to Christ’s service in 1966, and was filled with the Holy Spirit in 1970. A brilliant scholar, he earned a BSc with honors from Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone (1969), a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Makerere University, Uganda (1973), and a D.Sc. from the University of Durham, UK (2005), for his 160+ scientific articles. As a professor at the University of Yaoundé I, he supervised over 100 theses, viewing research as obedience to God’s command to “subdue the earth” (Genesis 1:28). Fomum’s ministry spanned 700 missionary journeys in Cameroon and 500 across 70 nations, planting churches in 130 countries through CMFI. He authored over 350 books, including The Way of Christian Character and The Art of Intercession, with 10 million copies in 100+ languages, emphasizing prayer, holiness, and discipleship. Married to Prisca Zei, a children’s minister, they had seven children, all active in ministry. Fomum died on March 14, 2009, in Yaoundé, saying, “My supreme ambition is to hunger, thirst, and gasp after God.”

Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the speaker emphasizes the importance of confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord. He warns that it will be too late to acknowledge Jesus as Lord if one waits until the end. The speaker also criticizes modern Christianity, stating that those with divided hearts will not go to heaven, but rather those who do God's work. He discusses the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit in transforming sinners and imparting the nature of God. The speaker also mentions a research conducted by Billy Graham, which found that only a small percentage of those who come forward in evangelistic crusades continue in their faith after a certain period of time. The sermon concludes with a reminder that true freedom from sin comes through the blood of Jesus Christ and the pursuit of holiness.

So, please warmly welcome Professor Faumont. We are going to give a clap offering to Jesus Christ. Because he's the king of kings and the lord of lords. Let's clap for him. Thank you very much. We are all going to say Jesus Christ is lord. You may say that as an experience or as a confession of something that will happen in the future. Listen, even in hell they shall say Jesus is lord. Only that it shall be too late then. So, say Jesus Christ is lord. Jesus Christ is lord. Jesus Christ is lord. The devil is defeated. The devil is defeated. Jesus Christ is lord. The devil is defeated. And Jesus Christ will be lord forever. And Jesus Christ will be lord forever. And the devil shall be forever defeated. And Jesus Christ will be lord forever. I read a book recently. Within the years. He quotes people like A. W. Toza. He said to us that that America is really like 10% true believers. He quotes Billy Graham and says that it is at the most 20% true believers. He quotes Billy Graham and says that it is at the most 20% true believers. He says that America is a Christian nation. I don't know what he is talking about. It is a pagan nation. We are not talking about Canada. It is easier to talk about other places. Very many years ago. As an exceptional issue. My father and his father became pastors. My father and his pastor became pastors. But the villagers said. That my grandfather had produced two pastors. One the pastor of God. And the other one the pastor of the world. That is the villagers. They said my father was the pastor of the world. And his junior brother was the pastor of the world. The pastor of God. And he was the pastor of God. And his little brother was the pastor of the world. Let us see things clearly. Three years ago. At the age of 88. My father's follower. The retired pastor of the world. Was converted. After about 50 years as pastor. In 1976. My uncle said. If what you are preaching is true. Then there is no Christian in my congregation. Even myself I am not a Christian. If what I am saying is true. But I hope what I am saying is not true. And we are all Christians. That was 76. In 2004 he was converted. And he sent me word that I should come and preach in the village. It is troubling. Let me say where the problem comes from. I just came from India three weeks ago. In India. All that is called Christian. From Catholicism to. Including all the calls and sects and all that is. It is 2.5 percent. The Muslims are 10 percent. India has the second largest population of Muslims in the world. We have a missionary in the squadron now from Pakistan. All that is Christian, quasi-Christian and the rest in Pakistan is 1.5 percent. The Muslims are 97 percent. All the other religions are 1.5 percent. And the brother says that it is 10 percent of the 1.5 percent that is truly Christian. And the brother says that it is 10 percent of the 1.5 percent that is truly Christian. So it is 0.5 percent. He has united the missionaries of the International Christian Missionary Society for Pakistan from the very beginning of this month until the end of the school year. And he says that it is overall largely nominal. The following passes for Christian today. What passes for Christian includes the following. People who come from a Christian background. But they have no place whatsoever for Jesus Christ. They are called Christians. That is the modern Christianity. That is the modern Christianity. Or counterfeit Christianity. There are people who for some reason give a bit of blessing in their hearts to Jesus. And keep all the rest for themselves. And they deceive themselves that they are Christians. There are others who are more generous. They give a bit more that they give to Jesus. And they say they are Christians. They say they are Christians. They say well this Jesus is not, he is good. Let's give him a bit more. And the pass for Christian. There are others who say that he can help us a lot. Let's give him half of the pass. There are others who say Why not give him more than half of the pass? There are others There are others who say There are many advantages in Christianity. But I must remember a lot of myself. I must give a lot of some part of my life. Take the rest from the rest. And the rest We give this out of our hearts. All this. Constitutes what is called modern Christianity. It has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. As Savior and Lord. It is only this that represents true Christianity. The rest is modern Christianity. Counterfeit Christianity. This is counterfeit Christianity. Until a person gives his whole heart to Jesus. All his heart, all his soul, all for all time. He cannot be a Christian. So many preachers Pastors, Bishops Missionaries Are lost men And lost women Until Jesus has all of their hearts. The person is not a Christian. This person is not a Christian. He is not married. Bless your man. Bless the woman. If you want to marry a girl I love you, I will get married to you. The woman is not married. One day a year You allow me to see some other man that I loved. That I loved in the past. Only one day. In 365 Will you marry her? Est-ce que tu l'ai trouvée? The boy said, I am married but there is some girl that I have. You have me thrown out since 4 days. But one day a year Just allow me to go and see him. I will get married. One day out of 365 is what percent? Un jour de 365 c'est quel pourcentage? 2.7 C'est 2.7 C'est 0.26% No, it's 2.7% C'est 0.2% C'est 0.27% What is it? 0.27% You will not marry the guy, isn't it? You will not marry the boy, isn't it? Not so? Since you are so jealous and so selfish Ok, you just give me one hour Tu me doneras une heure Every year, within Would you marry her? Est-ce que tu m'ai poussé l'aigle? You refuse Tu m'as poussé l'aigle That's 1% C'est quel pourcentage? 0.01% So 0.01% you refuse Non, 0 refuse, 0 pourcentage L'aigle, non So, since you are so extremely jealous Ok You just give me 5 minutes every day. I don't want to hold him, I want to embrace him and tell him that you are wonderful. Would you marry the person? Would you? So you are saying, it's all or nothing. Not so. It's all or nothing. OK. That's what you are saying. Do you think that Jesus would accept somebody who gives a bit of his heart, all of his heart to him except a little portion? Obviously not. Your standard for a wife or husband cannot be higher than Jesus' own. That's why. All these people want to eat are lost. Those 3 persons that you are referring are weak compared to you. They are seduced. They are deceived. And that's what modern Christianity is about. Could 2 people pray before we continue? 2 people can pray. Thank you, Lord. Because you have not changed, Lord. Your standards, your demands, Lord, have not changed with time. You remain the same, Lord. I thank you, Lord. And I pray that our hearts can receive what you are showing us, Lord, today. I pray for hearts that accept your word, Lord. I pray that your Holy Spirit produces the condition of God in your heart. And that your heart may become submissive, Lord, to Jesus Christ. Amen. Amen. Let me pray, Lord. You go to the front, please. Our Father, we pray, O Lord, that you open our eyes tonight to see, O Lord, that it is not experience. It is not appearance. It is not the religious activities. It is not our titles. It is not our baptisms, our being pastors, missionaries, or Christian workers that make us Christians. But it is giving all of our hearts, all of our hearts to Jesus. Father, I pray, O Lord, that you tear down tonight all false hopes of being a Christian. Father, I pray that you tear down all false hopes, Lord, that might exist in this room. In anyone, Lord, in any of us who thinks he is a Christian. But he is not. Because the heart has not been completely given to Jesus Christ for all time. Father, we pray that you reveal this, Lord, to our hearts. That being a Christian is all or nothing. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen. We are living in a generation where people have been deceived. We live in a generation where people have been deceived. They have been deceived, they have allowed themselves to be deceived, and they are prone to be deceived. People have been deceived, people have been deceived, and people have chosen to be deceived. The divided heart has no place in the kingdom of God. God did not have two sons. And he sent one to come for the salvation of man. He had only one son. God gave one after one. God gave his only son. He gave a hundred percent. Until a person is ready to receive Jesus Christ with his all. He is deceived. Listen. The rich young man came. He had lived a good life. He was prepared to do everything Jesus said except one thing. And he did not make it. Jesus said, one thing you lack. Because he was not prepared to surrender that one thing. He could not have eternal life. The divided heart cannot be saved while it is divided. A person can be saved from his sins when not in his sins. A man cannot be saved with his sins. Even with his one sin. Unless a person is prepared to abandon all his sins. Jesus cannot enter into his heart. Just like unless a girl gives up all other men. No man will marry her. No man will marry her. Unless a man is prepared to abandon all other men. To expect to be married is to deceive himself. This one day I said, it is all or nothing. For human marriage. In the marriage with the Lord Jesus. He is the earthly bridegroom. Unless the earthly bride abandons everything. That would, that does not please my soul at all. There can be no peace. He comes to save from sin. He comes to save from sin. He cannot save from sin when the person secretly hides one or two sins. He is looking for a bride. He is looking for a wife. Who has never seen a girl on her wedding day? Who has never seen a girl on her wedding day? Did you see one with a spotted garment? I have seen tall brides, short brides, firm brides, thin brides, light complexion, black. I have seen all kinds of brides. I have seen all kinds of brides. I have seen all kinds, all kinds. I have never seen one with a spotted garment. This is where the problem is. People are deceived. That is why they keep their sins. They keep their separate sins and enter the kingdom of God. They cannot enter, they cannot enter the kingdom of God. They cannot enter, they cannot enter the kingdom of God. And most people are not prepared to abandon all their sins in order to receive the salvation of God. They think that Jesus will wink at some sins and let them in. The Lord Jesus Christ said in Revelation 21st chapter talking about heaven verse 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it. Nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life. He wants to deceive himself with one thing. He wants him to be divided in half over one issue and know it and say that Jesus is in their heart. It is deception. All sin must be abandoned before he can come in. All self all of the world all of the things of the world must go. So he comes in as a king to possess the whole heart. Jesus possessing all of the man. Most people are not ready for that. They want to have some general form of religion that denies the power of Jesus Christ to possess the whole of a man all that is falsehood. But don't let them close. Don't let them close. Let them pray. The Father, my Lord Jesus Christ we thank you Lord for the privilege to have you proclaim to our hearts. Our Father we pray and we thank you oh Lord that our hearts will trust and keep your faith in me Lord. We ask oh Lord that I will not be deceived oh Lord in any way that I will be saved oh Lord for one sin sin still in my heart. I pray that no one here Lord will be deceived that I will be saved Lord with still one thing on second oh Lord. Our Father we praise you we thank you oh Lord that you open our eyes and open the eyes of our hearts to the Lord that we might be born into this world and that we might live all our lives through all our hearts to the Lord tonight in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord you pray for us. We pray oh Lord to heal all our hearts and to apply our hearts to that which you are saying. Lord God always bless you in Jesus name we pray. Amen. The last person to pray. I pray that I will be a good Christian of all my heart. Thank you Lord for the opportunity that you have given me to listen to your sermon that shows me that my human nature does not allow to live the true Christianity. Yes, I declare to all that I am Christian but I ask myself this question starting tonight. Am I to appear or am I to really achieve? It allows me to ask each person at this conference to think so that everyone can really think on the last day that the Lord is with us for the rest of this program. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen. I want to ask a question. Amen. Are you deceived? Sin is piercing the heart of God. If you can allow one sin in your heart then you really want to continue to pierce Jesus Christ to what end of your life? It does not matter whether he suffers from one sin or from a thousand or ten thousand, ten million. Because he is the Savior. Because our sins drove the nail through him. You cannot save him. You cannot keep a sin and say, save me. From what? He is able to save to the uttermost. So the third person is converted. We must turn him back to the world. We love the world. We love to the world. And everything that joins us, no one. Then Jesus will come into your heart. And possess the person. In all things. And kill the person. In all things. And at the end of his life he will take the person and order him to burn with him in heaven. They must come again. When your eyes are open to see the Savior and you turn your back to all that the world gives to all the pleasures of sin then you can come in. When Jesus Christ comes into a heart like mine I will possess it. All of it for all time. At all costs. The person is a believer. He has believed in the Lord. He has renounced all sin to follow him. He has renounced all sin to follow him. People are seduced by the fact that if a small part of their heart had said to Jesus that he would come joyfully and he would be happy to be in this corner. He is the King of kings. Or he has all or he has nothing. So modern Christianity is that big lie that tells the Buddha the divided hearts will be going to heaven. So it is not the God who says to me Lord, Lord, shall I enter the kingdom of heaven. It is those who do God's will. They seek it, know it, do it. They seek it, know it, do it. And they do all things. At all times. I have questions. Or comments. Gaga. This is the main question. Is it a good thing that the human being knows that it is by grace that he is saved? Because by knowing it, he can behave in such a way that even by promising sin, he knows that he will be saved by God. Can you comment on that? So just to translate Mr. here is asking could the speaker please speak a bit about grace? What is grace? That's the first question. What is the grace of God? And secondly, the second question I pose from that is is it good for a person to know that they are saved by grace? Because knowing that they are saved by grace they might sin, they might feel free to sin and tell themselves, after all it's by grace that I'm saved. How would you answer that? Grace God's riches are Christ's expense. But grace doesn't mean that a man continues to sin and say, it is God's grace. He who sins is of the devil. For the devil sins from the beginning. No one can receive the grace of God and decide to continue to neglect it. The Lamb of God saves from all sin those who want to be saved. Those who want to be saved. Not a man to keep his sins and commit them when he wants and say he has the grace of God. He is deceived. If not, the whole world is saved. The Buddhists, the Muslims, all of them. Everybody. By the grace of God. They need repentance. Repentance means I turn from sin and I turn to the Savior. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Forgive me, forgive me. The grace of God. The grace of God. Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry. I lost my temper. Forgive me, forgive me. OK, OK. It is enough for today. The Savior, when he says he gives the power to flee from sin, he says in the lake of fire, the adulterers, the fornicators and all who love and practice falsehood. They asked him, are there a few who are saved? He said, never to enter by the narrow gate. Never to enter by the narrow gate because many will want to enter but do not be able. God's grace is available for every person. Those who receive the grace of God abandon all sin forever. Grace can be no license for sin. In fact, it makes the whole matter of salvation nonsense. He has saved from what? In Revelation 1, 5. To him who loves Satan has freed us from our sins by his blood. He has freed us from our sins. He has freed us from our sins by his blood. The blood is not just to cover sin. The blood is not just to open sin. It is to remove all sins. He has freed us from our sins. Abandon. This is the difference between true faith and counterfeit faith. between true faith and counterfeit faith. There is counterfeit faith. It grows without any hatred from sin. Without forsaking sin. Without turning from sin. Without fleeing from sin. Without the holiness without which no man shall see God. was living adultery with somebody's wife with some woman's husband. People are looking. You are living adultery. You are living adultery. Abandon it or you'll go to hell. So don't let me down my salvation. So don't let me down my salvation. I trust you have no salvation. I trust you have no salvation. You are living adultery. And you are continuing. And you say you are saved. From what? A classmate in secondary school told me A classmate in secondary school told me One girl will be judging on this guy One girl will be judging on this guy he will pass through the back and enter heaven. The one who is who believes also receives the power and to hate sin forever and to hate sin forever Ananias and Sathia Ananias and Sathia God's grace was abundant for them. God's grace was abundant for them. The grace of God is that you abandon the sin of sin. If you want the salvation of God If you want the salvation of God Abandon all sin Abandon all sin and break the second one In fact, the grace of God should make you flee from sin even more. In fact, God suffers for sin more than any human being. God is the greatest sufferer because of his holiness. So those who receive the grace of God also receive the power to love him. And to love him is to flee from sin. You see a boy and a girl. The girl is half naked. The boy is holding her and hugging her and playing with her. And we are saved. By fighting the flesh. Because of the grace. The Bible says flee. Flee from sexual immorality. Flee from sexual immorality. Without holiness. No man shall see God. It is labor for that holiness without which no man shall see God. Let us just have faith. Many will say, they will not prophesy your name. And your name has done many wonderful things. And I will say unto them, depart from me ye workers of iniquity. Anyone who unknowingly keeps one sin in his heart who is only practicing one sin and while practicing it says I am saved. He is saved. He is saved from what? Listen there. Is this this modern gospel? That talks of a Christ who cannot set people free. Free from sin. He is a suspect. So the unsaved and the saved are doing the same thing. They are one. They are not saved. They are not saved. But in salvation, Jesus changes that. It is an encounter with a transformation. The sinner meets the Savior and there is a transformation. There is a divine impartation. The nature of God is given to the sinner. And the power to become a child of God. And the power to hate sin. And the power to flee from sin. The power to love God. The power to love holiness. Are imparted. They touch supernatural work. That inward, that transgression of the Holy Spirit. Many people do not know it. They know religion. They know how to come forward in the crusade. But the change of heart. The transformation. Which only God carries out. Has not taken place for many people. My host in the US. He was a missionary director. He was the leader of a missionary service society. He told me the fruit of a research that Billy Graham did. I did not read it myself. But he said, Billy Graham did research on those who came forth. And found that after 10 years. 1 in every 200 were in the Christian Church. 1 out of 200. And he told me, Billy Graham is a man of integrity. So for some evangelists, the 1 out of 10,000. For some. So when you come and say that you have 300,000. He will multiply it back. He will divide it by. No, he divides to just. Listen, brethren. We live in a time when people are deceived. Deceived. Confused. People will not be allowed. Ananias and Sapphira were not allowed to continue. God smote them. He said that the church cannot be a bundle of liars and deceivers. They told one liar. And God did not take it. It was not Peter who killed them. It was the Holy Spirit eliminating liars. He said that it cannot be a mix of lying and truth. He said that it cannot be a mix of lying and truth. Satan had filled the heart of Ananias and Sapphira. But God's grace was abundant. And God's grace excluded those who chose to sin. So the church will be holy. As forces I will continue to grace myself in sin so that grace may abound. Let me conclude by saying this. Many people who think that they are saved have never been saved. They became religious. They joined some church, some group. But there was no circumcision of the heart. There was no impartation of the new nature. So the power to love God was absent. The power to love God was absent. The power to hate sin was absent. The power to enjoy the Lord was absent. These are the things that belong to the new creation. Which are received in true conversion. Let us pray. Lord Your Son the Lord Jesus Christ came into your world to save sinners from their sinning. And Lord Jesus Christ is a present living Savior. To save from sinning. And you are on the throne interceding. Able to speak to the uttermost. Father we pray the name of Jesus Christ. That you reach out to individuals here this evening. And help each one to know who he is. So that no one is deceived. So that no one is deceived. We pray God that people receive the power to become the true love of God. That people receive power to receive the new nature. To become new creations. Change totally. Able to live for you totally. Oh God. Even tonight. We pray that the eyes of some will be opened by the Holy Spirit. And the veil torn from their hearts. So that they will see their sin. And turn from it. So that they will see their Savior. And plead to him. If there is someone who wants to turn from all his sin. Forever. And turn to Christ with all of his heart. Forever. And receive the service of God. And receive the service of God. And if there is such a one I need, who needs help? You can stay behind while I ask. And someone will help you. We will continue to look at it into. We will continue to look at it into. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Lida. Thank you very much. Thank you. OK. We will sing a song. Have you any room for Jesus? Jesus is in the first package we gave you. Jesus is in the first package we gave you. We have a paper for comments. We have a paper for comments. So please write some comments if you want. And give those to us. And give those to us. Lord of God thank you for this evening. Thank you for the Word of truth that we heard tonight. Thank you because tonight you spoke to me. You opened my eyes to my own condition. You let me acknowledge that I'm a sinner and that I need you. I need to be saved. It's not by my own strength that I'll be saved. Lord, I need you. Thank you for your grace. Thank you because I do not deserve this grace. Thank you because you love me. Lord, help me to flee from sin in my life and to seek your face every day. To seek your will every day of my life. Lord, Lord, Lord, keep on speaking and blessing us through the night tonight. Lord, protect the seed that you've sown in our hearts tonight and grant it to grow. Lord, continue to protect us and to guide us tonight. Lord, bring us back tomorrow. Thank you.
