(Revelation) Part 1 the Scarlet Womans Future Judgement
Willie Mullan

William “Willie” Mullan (1911 - 1980). Northern Irish Baptist evangelist and pastor born in Newtownards, County Down, the youngest of 17 children. Orphaned after his father’s death in the Battle of the Somme, he faced poverty, leaving home at 16 to live as a tramp, struggling with alcoholism and crime. Converted in 1937 after hearing Revelation 6:17 in a field, he transformed his life, sharing the gospel with fellow tramps. By 1940, he began preaching, becoming the Baptist Union’s evangelist and pastoring Great Victoria Street and Bloomfield Baptist churches in Belfast. In 1953, he joined Lurgan Baptist Church, leading a Tuesday Bible class averaging 750 attendees for 27 years, the largest in the UK. Mullan authored Tramp After God (1978), detailing his redemption, and preached globally in Canada, Syria, Greece, and the Faeroe Islands, with thousands converted. Married with no children mentioned, he recorded 1,500 sermons, preserved for posterity. His fiery, compassionate preaching influenced evangelicalism, though later controversies arose.

Sermon Transcription
Turning to Revelation, chapter seventeen, please. The book of Revelation, chapter seventeen. And no matter what part of the world I have preached in, whether it was Canada or America or the Faroe Isles or Iceland or Denmark or even in Palestine, no matter what part of the world I have gone to preach in, I have always been asked for two things. I have been asked to give my life story, and I have been asked to preach on Revelation, chapter seventeen. Sometimes I have preached on Revelation, seventeen, for two hours and ten minutes, so you're out for the night, aren't you? However, I've thought about this very carefully today, and I think that we'll do the half of the story tonight. We'll identify the woman very carefully, and we'll get down to verse seven this evening, and then the judgment of the woman we'll leave for next Tuesday. And that will not make it so heavy for me, and it won't make it so difficult for you. You can see that I have written across this chapter the doom of the scarlet woman. I've called it this because the first verse begins like this. John writing said, under him one of the seven angels, which are the seven vials. And you remember we saw these seven angels first in chapter fifteen. They were the seven angels who had the seven last prayers, and in them is filled up the wrath of God. They were the seven angels who came with the seven vials filled with the wrath of God. And in chapter sixteen we saw each one of these angels pour out his vial of wrath upon me. And then one of them came and spoke to John. There came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither, I will show unto thee the judgments of a great whore that sittheth upon many waters, and there are three things to note there. The whole subject of the chapter is the judgments. That's the principal subject. It's the judgment. That's what he wants John to think. And it's the judgment of the great whore. And there we must take time and patience and care. Who is this? Is this a person? Well, I assure you when we look at the chapter properly, the bit we're looking at this evening, you will find that the activities of this one go so far back and so far forward that it certainly couldn't be one person. It'll stretch back farther than you think, and it will stretch a good bit ahead, as you shall find. If this is not a person, who is this? What is this terrible name used for? Is this a party of some kind? Or is this a system of some kind? We've got to find out the Bible answers to these questions. What is this? You'll find that he's inviting John to see the judgment of the great whore that sittheth upon many waters. That's symbolism, of course, and you get that in the book of Revelation. And I've taught this class that where you get symbolism or symbols of any kind in the book of Revelation, you'll get the answer beside it. When the angel said, the great whore that sittheth upon many waters, what did the angel mean? See verse 15 in your chapter. And he said unto me, the waters which thou sought where the whore sittheth are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. I don't think you've any trouble with it now, have you? I've always taught you that God answers these questions. I'm not allowed to think and suggest on my own what the waters might mean. Here is the answer. The waters which thou sought where the whore sittheth are peoples, and get thee out of them, and multitudes and nations and tongues. That just can't be a person. But we'll get down to it very much indeed. So that we're going to look at the future judgment of this system that is called the great whore here, and we'll find out that it's a system in a moment or two. Just bypass the second verse for a moment and go to the third one. I'll come back to the second verse because we must not miss any phrases. Firstly, so he, the angel, carried me, John, away in the spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet-colored beast. The beast was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. I want you to take a study at that. The woman is riding the beast. The beast at that moment is being dominated by the woman. And I think in this class nearly everybody could answer who the beast is. If there might be somebody here who doesn't know, let's go back to Revelation 13. Revelation 13, John says, And I stood upon the sand of the sea and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns. And upon his horns ten clans, and upon his head the name of blasphemy. And I would think that you can see that the one in Revelation 13 and the one in Revelation 17, having seven heads and ten horns and the name of blasphemy each time, that here we have the one and same person. And when we were in Revelation 13, we noticed this. Are you still at Revelation 13? It says in verse 5, And there was given unto him among speaking great things and blasphemies, and power was given unto him to conceive forty and two months, three and a half years. I want you to get the time factor into its proper perspective. You know, we spent a lot of time back there looking at these three and a half years. You remember I pointed out to you that the Lord Jesus is coming? He's coming soon. In fact, before this meeting ends, the Lord could come to the air, and all the believers in this meeting would rise to meet him in the air. What a moment that would be. They could keep this church and Ulster along with it. We would believe in this land of sin and sorrow, for a better summerland he has gone to prepare a place for us. But the moment that the church rises to meet the Lord in the air, at that moment will begin a period on this planet known as the Great Tribulation. Seven years of it. But a half of it, three and a half, forty-two months. Very special Great Tribulation. Now, that's where the beast will appear. Want you to think now. That's what you're here for. For that beast, that one who has the mouth and speaks blasphemy, that one that we found out who was the Antichrist, he can't be revealed, of course, until the church goes, we found in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2. Then shall that wicked one be revealed. So it's a way down there, to where this person is going to be. And it's down there, to where this woman is going to ride the beast. You get the hold of that, because you'll need to get the hold of that. Because I'll be taking you way back. Yay, thousands of years back to see the start of this thing. And it goes too far back, and too far forward to be a person. I drop a person, but all right, we've settled that. I hope we have settled that. Because you can see the woman is riding the beast. We haven't discovered who she is yet, but we're getting nearer to it, because God is getting us close. You can see the Antichrist is there, which means the common market has dug into full stride. And this man of sin hath appeared. And yet, this woman is riding the beast. We can specially take it in, but there it is. Let's go back to verse 2 now. Because we need to look at this verse. We'll read verse 1 again. And there came one of the seven angels, which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither, I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters, with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication. And I want you to put the F in the kings, and I want you to see who we're talking about. The kings of the earth. Boy, that's gone a brave bit back, isn't it? I'll tell you when kings appeared in Genesis 14. That's when they appeared. Five kings fought with four kings, and the first time you get war mentions is back there. Well, all the kings of the earth, that's what it says, have been inoculated with this woman's fornication. And it's very true, too. I want you to notice this little bit. With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication. And the inhabitants of the earth, and that happens to be you and me, the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. And you'll find that she has inoculated you and I some way, somewhere. You'll find that in the moment of this. They took me out and christened me one day when I didn't know a thing about it. But never mind, I'll come to it slowly. I'll succumb to it slowly. But the inhabitants! That's you and me. And I think they're getting inoculated more now than they ever did before. But we'll take what time, will we? You're watching the headings. The woman's future judgment, that's the subject. And then the woman's future informant. She's not only sitting upon many waters which are actually peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. But you'll find that she's riding the beast. And we're looking at the woman's past achievements just now. The kings of the earth and the inhabitants of the earth. And we're down to verse four now. I think all that's perfectly easygoing. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color. And you want to watch the colors. Because you know the writer's inspired. And death, sir, I like that word. Death with gold and precious stones and pearls. Now drop to the ladies for a moment or two. Ladies, you want to watch this woman. She's a whore. I'm not putting a tooth in it or anything like that. And you know she's deaf. You get the word. Now ladies, I've never fought with one of you for wearing a necklace. And I have no notion of doing so. Or of wearing a ring on your finger or two. Excuse me. But I hate to see a woman deaf. Because I think she's acting like a whore. You got that? Because that's exactly what I meant. There's two women in the scriptures and you need to know them both. One is Jezebel. She's the first woman that painted her face. And you're not following a good example if you're following Jezebel. And if you're running about deaf. And I mean things stuck in your hair and things stuck in your ears and things stuck on your arms. Because I went to Palestine with an old lady once on the boat. And she was about 90. She could hobble about all right. And she had got more bangles on her arms than were a way up to the rock stars. Do you know that word? I said to Mr. Abner, she falls overboard. She'll never even come up once. Now when you're deaf, dear. You're following a whore. Well, maybe you'll throw a bit of it off after this. And a half of the length of the earrings will do you now. Yes. Because this is the woman's allurement, isn't it? This whore has to allure people. And there has to be a lot of decking going on to do it. But we'll get down to it. We're only getting clues. I think you can see the woman's past achievements and her future inform them quite easily. And her present adornment. I put it up for you very carefully. And we're at verse 5 and you can see it's a good verse, isn't it? God has written a bit of this in capital letters. He knows what he's about, you know. And upon her forehead was a name written. Miss Cherry. Babble and the Great. The mother of harlots and abominations of the earth. That's her name. You know, we're wanting more than anything else to find out exactly who she is. And you know, if we were sitting in the police station this evening, and there's a lot of police men and police women here just now, you know, if they were trying to find somebody, they would have a look at the descriptions it's given to them. They would see her past achievements, what she's been doing. And they would learn about her adornment and what she usually wears. More than anything, they're anxious to get her name. Because once they get the hold of her name, they'll do a better tracing. But we've got her name. Name written. You can see it's Miss Cherry, and there's a comma after that. Then Babble and the Great, and there's another comma. The mother of harlots and abominations of the earth. The name's not too clear. As I read it, there's something mystical about her. And there's something Babylonish about her. And there's something fornicatory about her. She's the mother of harlots. And there's something idolatrous about her. Abominations of the earth. So I know I've got a lot of clues before me. The thing's not clear. I'm not getting it properly, so I'll have to investigate a bit more. And I'm taking the word Babylon out of her name. Because that's the clearest bit. There's something Babylonish about her. And I've got to get the hold of it. But when you come to think about Babylon, I assure you this evening that in the Old and New Testaments, the word Babylon is there 260 times. If you get a strong exhaustive concordance, you'll find I'm right. And I assure you with my hand up to God that I've examined every one of the times, 260 of them. That's my job in life, is to sit and look at them, seeing what they're all about. It's a big subject, 260 times. But I learned from Dr. Ironside that when anything is in the Scriptures a lot of times, if you look at the first time it appears, and the last time it appears, you'll get a pretty good idea of what it's all about. Now, I shall show you the first time that the word appears in the Book. Let's go to the Book of Genesis. And we're at chapter 9. Genesis, chapter 9. And just the same time we're reading at verse 18. The flood is just over, and the ark has come to rest on Mount Ararat. Verse 18, Genesis 9. And the sons of Noah that went forth of the ark were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth. His three sons. And Ham is the father of Canaan. And somehow it almost looks as if that phrase doesn't fit in there. Why does it say that he's the father of Canaan? Why does it not say that Shem is the father, and Japheth is the father, and so on? In fact, some of the so-called scholars would like to take that phrase out, because they think it doesn't fit. Anything that they think doesn't fit, they just want to take it out. I assure you it fits. It's inspired, and I'll just show you how it fits. It was put in for a very special purpose. Now, you can see the three lads, Shem, and Ham, and Japheth. 2nd verse 19. These are the three sons of Noah. And of them was the whole earth overspread. So you're related to some one of them. This is where we all came from. Either Shem, or Ham, or Japheth. And I would make a pretty good bet this evening that everybody in here, I think now, I can be wrong on this, I think that everybody in here is related to Japheth. That's who you came from, that's who I came from. You see, there might be a Jew or a Jewess in here that I haven't detected just now, and they would have come from Shem as their life. We get a colored brother here sometimes, he's not here tonight, but he comes from Ham. But the rest of us come from Japheth. Shem, Ham, Japheth. The Jews come from Shem, and the colored folks come from Ham, and we Gentiles come from Japheth. It says in verse 20, And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted the vineyards, and he drank of the wine and was drunken. Can I say a word to the young preachers? You young preachers go out preaching, and God blesses you and you're a success? I trust that the wine of your success doesn't set you mad, because that's what happened to Noah. He planted the vineyards, he drank of the wine, lost his head. There's a lot of young preachers when God blesses them, you couldn't put up with them. They get drunk. We're thinking they are something. So I hope it doesn't ever happen to you. It says, And he drank of the wine and was drunken, and he was uncovered within his tent. And that's a tremendous phase. I've got to be blunt about some things, it doesn't mean the bedclothes fell off him, you know. Well, if you ever slept in a tent, you'll know the bedclothes can't fall off very easily. The Hebrew word for uncovered means that somebody uncovered him. Somebody stole into the tent when he was drunk and uncovered. And it was his son. And his son had sexual intercourse with his drunken father. Oh, don't let it shock you, the dude around Worgen. He was put in jail for it some years ago. Yes, this boy Ham came in. Yes, Ham, the father of Canaan. Did you get the phrase that was up there a bit, that the old fellas don't know anything about? Oh, that's why it was there. Because I'll show you just in a minute. Father of Canaan saw the nakedness of his father, and that word falls in the very special sense too. He had to do with his old drunken father, and saw his true brethren without. And shame and doubt there took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and went backwards, and covered the nakedness of the father. And their faces were backwards and they saw not their father's nakedness. They weren't having anything to do with this sort of thing. And now awoke from his wine, now watch this phrase, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. Don't you see that bit now? I hope you see it now. I wasn't reading anything into it, was I? No, he knew what he had done. And he said, Cursed be Canaan! Oh, did you get the bit now? He didn't curse Ham, he cursed his son. That's the way it's set up, the chapter a little bit. Ham was the father of Canaan. The words in this book are not to be taken just because you don't think it's right. God pity you, no matter who you are, all great university BAs are so dopey I get fed up with them. And I went to Queens to preach first, you know, and saw about 900 of all the students and all professors with gowns on. I said, you know, I hardly ever went to school, you know. I was a bad boy. And I have no notes with me. And I'm a bit scared. But when I see how many dopes this place turns out every year, I get great encouragement. Now don't be getting too smart with yourself now. Because you're not the whole seas, you know. Yes, it was there for a very special purpose. And now Canaan is cursed. And you know, that day was different from this day, because the head of the family could either leave you a blessing or a curse. And when he cursed them, he meant it. He wasn't, he did get angry, you know. It was a curse put upon Canaan. Watch this. Verse 25, and he said, Cursed be Canaan, a servant of servants, and the words should be, a slave of slaves shall he be unto his brethren. You see, the whole family of Canaan became slaves. But Canaan became a slave of slaves. And the whole family of the Hamites were made slaves. He went on to say this, and he said, Blessed, you see, he can either curse or bless. Blessed be the Lord God of Sam. And Canaan shall be his slave, is the word. My, it was laid down with a weighty hand here. He went on to talk about Japheth. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Sam. And Canaan shall be his slave. You got this curse into your mind, because this family, and particularly this lad Canaan, was crushed. Now we come into chapter 10. You wonder why I'm doing all this. Well, just take your time now, because we're getting somewhere in a moment. Have to go slow with this business. Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, Japheth. And those of them were sons born after the flood. The sons of Japheth. This is the most interesting. Gomorrah. And that's the word that Germany comes from. That's the same word. Magog. Well, that's right up in the north. That's the Russians. Madyar, Javan, Tubal. Metech. That's the word that Moscow comes from. It's most interesting, and I did this for the class one evening, went into all these names, and you can see these sons of Japheth here. It's most interesting. Verse 6. And the sons of Ham. Let's get there then now. You can see the first one is Cush, and Mizraim, and Foot, and Canaan. And then it goes on down to talk about Cush begot Nimrod. You see, verse 8. Edward Nimrod's a very interesting one. Because the word itself means, you can look it up sometime, rebellious handful. This fellow Nimrod became a rebel. A rebel against what? A rebel against the curse of God. He wasn't going to live on the rich, you know. He became a rebel. A rebellious handful. It says, and Cush begot Nimrod. The word means rebellious handful. He began to be a mighty one in the earth. Now if you were reading that in an ordinary, authorized version, you would think he was a mighty fellow. But the word actually means he began to be a mighty rebel. You see, his name means rebellious handful, and he began to be a mighty one. He began to be a mighty rebel in the earth. If you know Jewish Targum, is a great translation here, I'll tell you what it says in the Jewish Targum. And Cush begot Nimrod, the rebellious handful. And he began to be a mighty rebel, an arrogant tyrant, defiant before the faith of the Lord. That's what it says in the Jewish Targum. This fellow became an arrogant tyrant. He rebelled against it. He wasn't living on the rich. He's not going to have this. And it says here, he was a mighty hunter before the Lord. And don't for any sakes think that he's going out into the jungle with a gun. He's hunting for the tools of men. He wants to gather a crowd round him to really go against this Cush. And he hunted for them. He was an arrogant tyrant. It says he was a mighty hunter before the Lord. Therefore it is said, you see they had a proverb in that day, even as Nimrod, the mighty hunter before the Lord. When a man rebelled against God in any shape or form, they said, he's like Nimrod, the mighty hunter before the Lord. That was the proverb. He was so arrogant and so violent, defiant, a tyrant, that this was said of him. And so he got the crowds of people together and in fact he founded a kingdom. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel. That's the first time in this book you have the word that leads up to Babylon. Babel. Now if you were looking in the Hebrew tonight, there are Hebrew scores here. A fellow over there has been grieved in Hebrew. He knows. In the Hebrew it's written B-A-Hyphen E-L It's E-B-A-H-E-L So it is. I want you to get the hold of that, you know. Some time ago we had a study of names here and we were looking at every name that ended in E-L. Of course, when it ends in E-L, it's a loom. It's the old Hebrew word for God. Because everybody here knows about Emmanuel. Well, it means God when you start at the end of the word E-L. And it means with us. Emmanuel means God with us. I think everybody here knows about Beth-El. You know Beth-El. What's Beth-El mean? The El means God. Beth means the host, the host of God. I think that everybody here knows about Joel, one of the prophets. The Jew is for Jehovah. The other El is for God. It means Jehovah is God. How many of us remember about Daniel? Daniel. Well, God means judge. E-L at the end of his name means God is my judge. We have a lady in the meeting. She's in now and her name is Rachel. And I told her one evening, you know, you've got a lovely name. Because it means Lamb of God. That's what it means. And it's a beautiful one. And now, when we say Bob-El or Day-El, what does it mean? Well, you see, the B-A-B or the B-A and then the hyphen and the E-L, this B-A means gateway. This religion, this kingdom and religion that he was founding, he was saying it was the gateway to God. He was going to make a way to God on his own. That's where it began. Yes, Nimrod was the culprit. And he began the Babylonian religion. It was him that founded it. But we'll get it a little bit clearer. You'll notice this. Let's do this when we're here. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel. Babel and Ephrah and Achab and Ptolemy in the land of Shinar, way out there in Mesopotamia. Let's go to chapter 11. And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech. Of course you would know that. The three boys came out of the ark. And I can tell you this. They were not long out of the ark till they divided up. And Japheth went right north. And you notice, you know the people that live in the north. When I've reached in Sweden and up there through the fennels and so on, you know, they're nearly all fair hair and blue eyes. Tell Sweden that. Of course, Sam went right out east. And if you lived long enough out there, you'd soon color yellow. Of course, if you go south and you live in the burning equator, you'll very soon darken down a bit. But they're all one language yet. But there's a great thing here. I've gone into this with some of the professors. I know something about genetics. But we'll not start on genetics for this evening. Verse 1. And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech. It came to pass as they journeyed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar. And they dwelt there. And they said one to another, go to let us make brick and burn them fully. And they had brick for stone and slime and bake for mortar. And they said, go to let us build us a city and a tower. The word tower is an interesting one because it's the word temple. Build us a city and a temple. Now, I want you to watch this. Whose top may reach unto heaven? You know, when I used to go to school, and I assure you I didn't pay much attention to anything. Only religious instruction. This is funny. You know, I never did a thing in my life. I just stood there when we were back to back doing songs. People looked at the book, you know. I had no notion of doing this. And there was nobody going to make me do it. Well, I just couldn't do it and that was it. But when it came to religious instruction, funny enough, I used to sit up and take notice. And when I was only a small boy, I wondered how in the name of the world did these fellows ever attempt to build a temple or a tower to heaven. We're beginning to know how much space is now. It's a long way to the moon, you know. Two hundred and fifty thousand miles. And you're not the quarter of the way there. There never was a man in this world who ever attempted to build anything to heaven. That is not true. And if you read it, read it, it would be, the sense would be there. Look at your Bible again, do you see? And they said, Go to Letos, build us a city and a temple. The temple. Who's top, see the next two words, may reach. They're in italics. Are they in italics in your book? Yes, I see the big fellow nodding. That's good. He's got a good Bible, you see. You see, it says, Who's top, and here's how it reads in the old original, Who's top is like unto the heavens. It's not may reach at all. Nobody ever set out to build a temple to the heavens. Nonsense. But they built temples in those days and they still build them. Who's top, the top of the temple, is like unto the heavens. When I was in the far east, you know, I went into the pagan temple. I had to take my shoes off to get in. Ah, some of the old tight boys would put you under the mitten and you took your shoes off. Oh well, I'm not worried about you, I've got the flamed out. So I took my shoes off and wandered in with the pagans. And when I got in, you know, I came to the conclusion that I was right in what I had thought because in the center of this great pagan temple there was a big thing in the dome just like the heavens. The sun was there and the moon was there and the stars were there. I knew I was in the pagan temple there. I knew this had come down from Babylon, you see. And this is what they did, you see. They had made this temple for their new religion, this gateway to heaven. And they made the top of the temple like unto the heavens. And of course the Lord was annoyed about this. Verse 5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the temple and the children of men builded. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language. And this they begin to do. And now nothing will be restrained from them which they have imagined to do. Go to let us go down, which we show you there's the trinity there. And there confound their language that they may not understand one another's speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from hence upon the face of all the earth. They want to see that scattering because that's most important. Because they'll tell you that put this Babylonian religion into every corner of the world. Make you no mistake about that. He scattered them to the full range of the earth. That's just how it got around. This was Nimrod. And he was founding this Babylonian religion. And he was building a temple. And he was going to make a gateway to God of his own. I hope you know tonight that there's no gateway to God apart from Christ. Jesus Christ said I am the way. The truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. That's the only way back to God you know. And if you're steeped in some old degree you're on your way to hell. But we'll come closer to it in a moment or so. You know not only must I study these things very closely and get every word right. And not only have I to look at the original scriptures and the language. But I do read all the ancient history and ancient lore you know. It's a terrible thing to read through. And again you see I've got a lot of historians beside me each evening in the class. Boys who come from Queens who are studying history and probably know more about it than I'll ever know and bless you for that. These boys know a lot about ancient lore and they know this. They know that Nimrod married a woman called Semiramis. Maybe you've read something about this somewhere in history. It doesn't matter. Well Semiramis became the queen of this anti-diabolical religion. And when she was having her first baby she put it out throughout the whole kingdom that she was a virgin and that this was the son of God that was being born. And it was right there that the mother and child worship began. It began there. That's where it began. In Babel. In this Babylonian religion. Of course when they were scattered to the four ends of the earth you know you'll find that the mother and child worship began with Semiramis and her child was called Thomas. And the moment that Thomas was born every Babylonian had to wear a gold chain with a T. I know some folks have changed it to a cross and if you're running swanking about with a T on a chain or a cross on a chain you want to catch us alone a wee bit. Because you're inoculated with Babylonish nonsense. Oh I see the prophets swanking about you. They amuse me. Some of the boys that shout the loudest. They're swanking a Babylonish chain. It's not a T now. It used to be a T for Thomas. You can easily change a T you know. Yes, you'll find out that the mother and child worship if you go to Egypt. You'll find that the mother is called Esus and the child is called Horus. Mother and child. If you go to Italy you'll find that Venus is the mother and Cuban is the child. If you go to Greece you'll find Aphrodite is the mother and Eros is the child. And you'll find this mother and child worship is spreading abroad across the whole world. And Rome is sick with it. But we'll come slowly to the point now. We're trying to trace this whore out before we move. But we'll do it in a way that you'll not forget. You know when they were scattered abroad things happened. Let's go to the prophecy of Ezekiel. Ezekiel. Take your time now young folks and find the place. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, then comes Ezekiel. Chapter 8 it says. Prophecy of Ezekiel and without being in chapters. Now you would know that when we come to the prophecy of Ezekiel that we're in the Jewish nation. Ezekiel was one of their prophets. We're a long way from Babylon now. We're in the Jewish temple actually here. And we'll leave it this chapter. I'll do a bit to get to it. Verse 1. It came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the sixth day of the month as I, that is Ezekiel, sat in mine house and the elders of Judah you can see that this is the Jewish nation, stand before me at the hand of the Lord God fell there upon me and I beheld in low lightness of the appearance of fire from the appearance of his mouth even downward fire and from his loins even upward of the appearance of brightness of the color of amber and he put forth the form of an hand and took me by a lock of my hair and the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem. So you see where he is. He's in the Jewish nation in the heart of it. Through the door of the inner gate that's the door of the inner gate of the temple. He's right at the temple. Then look up toward the north. Where was the seat of the image of jealousy? Now they had got an image in the Jewish temple there an old plaster cast of an image and behold the glory of the God of Israel was there according to the vision that I saw on the plain and then said he unto me son of man lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north so I lifted up my eyes the way toward the north and behold the northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry. And he said furthermore unto me son of man seest thou what they do even these great abominations that the house of Israel commit us here that I should go far off from my country but turn me yet again and I shall see greater abominations and he brought me to the door of the court and when I looked behold a hole in the wall then he said unto me son of man dig now in the wall and when I had digged in the wall behold a door and he said unto me go in and behold the wicked abominations that they do here so I went in and saw and behold every form of creeping things and abominable beasts and all the idols of the house of Israel portrayed upon the wall round about and there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel all priests and in the midst of them stood Jazaniah the son of Shazam I suppose he was the high priest with every man his censer in his hand and a thick cloud of incense went up then said he unto me son of man ask thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark every man in the chambers of his imagery for they say the Lord seeth us not the Lord hath forsaken the earth then he said unto me turn thee yet again and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord's house which was toward the north and behold there sat woman weeping for Thomas ah that's the boy I was telling you about I didn't print this book you know I just happened to notice this is this plot the cast of this son that was born to Nimrod and Semiramis and here is this Babylonian religion spreading on by let me tell you that it's in the Jewish temple now oh we're getting nearer now oh it was in the Jewish temple it makes it a little bit closer than that if you go to Daniel Ezekiel, Daniel is the next one we can't miss it Daniel 5, do you know Daniel 5? Daniel chapter 5 and this is where the writing was on the wall you remember that the king was frightened and none of his great magicians could read it and then they brought in Daniel and when Daniel was brought in verse 13 then was Daniel brought in before the king and the king spake and said unto Daniel art, God art Daniel which art of the children of the captivity of Judah whom the king my father brought out of Jewry I have heard of thee that the spirit of the gods is in thee and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee and now the wise men and the astrologers have been brought in before me that they should read this writing and make known unto me the interpretation thereof that they could not show the interpretation of the faith and I have heard of thee that thou canst make interpretations and dissolve doubts now if thou canst read the writing and make known to me the interpretation thereof thou shalt be clothed with scarlet and mark the colour of thieves and have a chain of gold about thy neck isn't that funny you know Daniel, this is Babylon of course he was in Babylon just now you know sometimes when I used to see our council here in the town parading at one thing and another you see the mayor of the town, Blessom he's got the scarlet robe on and the chain about his neck and he doesn't know it's Babylon, does he he's so proud you know he was shrinking about with it on well the scarlet robe and the chain belong to Babylon that's what it belongs to or I wouldn't know they just think they're big fellas there's always the wee fella at the back there's a crowd looking on who laughs you know they amuse me the pride and the stink that goes with it at times and they don't know but I can tell you where the scarlet robe comes from and sometimes as you see the cardinals of the Roman church you'll find they're all dressed in scarlet and they're chained about their neck and there's a cloth on them now and it should be a tee of course or we'll begin to wade around a wee bit or we'll break gelf before the night's over next young year if you know I'm only starting I'll take the coat off now it's difficult if you feel warm take the coat off cause you're in for a moment with me we'll only do the half of it that's right take it off and the full of it too yes let's get the hold of this now we're beginning to see where this Babylonian religion came from it came from Nimrod and he married this woman Semiramis and they had this child Thomas and of course they built this first pagan temple and then of course God came and scattered them and this thing went throughout the whole world it even came into the house of gods as usual fancy a plaster cast of Thomas in the house of gods you will find that nations and kings and inhabitants of the earth have been contaminated with this thing that's what I tell you they think about you with it and they don't know let's go back to 1st Samuel for a moment 1st Samuel chapter 5 and this is not Babylon and this is not China and this is not the Jews and this is not Jerusalem and this is not the house of God this is the Philistines let's watch the Philistines for a moment verse 1 1st Samuel 5 verse 1 and the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer onto Asgard they captured the ark of God in battle and when the Philistines took the ark of God they brought it into the house of Dagon that was their god that was a god they had it was called Dagon and set it by them and when their vice-god arose early on the morrow do you notice the day here they brought it in the day before on the second day early on the morrow behold Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord this image fell down before the ark of the Lord and they the Philistines took Dagon and set him in his place again and when they arose early on the morrow do you know what morning that was that was the third day third day is a wonderful day you know behold Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold only the stump of Dagon was left to him he got a good bible again you see the word stump is there a number of it in your bible do you see the margin it says the fishy part because this god Dagon was made a part fish and a part man and the bottom part of this idol was all fish the top part was like a man and you can see that the head and the palms of his hands were cut off and only the fishy part was left now in ancient history they tell me that the Philistines are the crowd of priests who attended this god of theirs continually and they all wore mitres on the head with a fish's mouth someday when you see the Pope walking around maybe you'll see him you'll find that the mitre the Pope wears has got a fish's mouth on the top I'll tell you where it came from it came from the Philistines and I'll tell you a wee bit more there's a great scholar in the Roman Catholic Church and his name is Father O'Sullivan and he has written a book and you can buy it in any of the shops you may well get it in the shop up here I'm not sure it is called the externals of the Roman Catholic Church the externals of the Roman Catholic Church he's talking about all the externals and when he talks about externals he's talking about the daffodils the robes they wear and the mitre now here's what he said about the Pope's hat now I wrote it down so that I wouldn't misquote the man he says the distinctive office of the Pope is the mitre it is of oriental origin and can be traced back to pagan times that's pretty honest I think I'd have to give him full marks for that you know there are honest scholars in the Roman Catholic Church and I think you've got to admit this and I think that Father O'Sullivan whoever he may be is an honest scholar he admits that the distinctive mark of the Pope's office is the mitre he says it is of oriental origin and can be traced back to pagan times you see this Babylonian religion it began with minerals shamaramas, tamas they were scattered you can see these vestments that are in Babylon you know even when Jericho was being invaded you remember it was Aachen who stole the Babylonian garments and you know when I see the Archbishop of Canterbury and some of the other bishops and you can see their robes and some of you old church folk you're so proud of them I'll tell you where they came from they came from Babylon the Babylonian garments well read about them in the New Testament and show me a little bit of it I'll tell you you're steeped in pooper and you don't even know it I'll tell you this now we're going to settle down to things because a whole lot of folk have been inoculated with this and they don't even know the inhabitants of the earth they took me out and christened me one of the church that was poopery, that's what that was my dear friend, would you like to come round and argue with me a bud because I'll take you on yes, we want to get the hold of this, you know we're going to find that this woman let's go back to Revelation 17 there's a clue or two more here that we'll have to deal with this evening we're back at Revelation 17 now we've just been dealing with this word Babylon and trying to find out the few things that belong to this Babylonian religion and of course they crept into Judaism and they crept into the Pharistines and if I were taken up a few other of the ancient idols I would find it there too and you'll find it in our churches and you'll find it in our streets and you'll find it with our mayor and all the rest of it now here's verse 6 and I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus want you to get the hold of that yes we can find many of the martyrs of the saints just away back there the blood was shed this way and that way but when you come to the martyrs of Jesus this word Jesus is there again you know you're in the New Testament time don't you the martyrs of Jesus now I know as I look back through history that Judaism the Jews were so bigoted that when the church began to spread abroad that Stephen was stoned to death and a few others were martyred also of course James the brother of John was put to the sword and so on but I think if you're honest with history you can't say that Judaism was drunk with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus you can say the same about communism communism arrests men of God and they put them in prison and sometimes put them to death and they have been guilty of five murders against them but I don't think you could say that communism has been drunken with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus because I know that when the missionaries go to the jungle the heathen murder them at times and the free feds were murdered and many others but I don't think you could say that the heathen has been drunken with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus I think this is the one clue that discovers the woman for us you know there's only one system on the face of this earth tonight that I could honestly say has been drunken with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus and that's the Roman system you know this is encyclopedia Britannica just there and of course you know that I didn't preach it they wouldn't let me dot the i's in there so they wouldn't and all you need to do someday is go to somebody who's got one and open it up the word Inquisition that's what you open up, Inquisition and I'll tell you a few things, little pages here about it the Inquisition said the name given to the ecclesiastical juridiction dealing both in the middle ages and in later times with the detection and punishment of heretics and all persons guilty of any offence against the catholic orthodoxy that's what it was about you see the Inquisition worked like this in the middle ages and when I say the middle ages I'm talking about the 12th century in the 12th century and in the 13th and in the 14th and in the 15th and a little bit into the 16th the roman catholic church held full sway in Europe at least and of course there were many people opposed to the doctrines even though there are many roman catholics now opposed to the doctrines but if they cared to set up an inquiry in any town they would send a monstran Franciscan monst and the monst put up an inquiry though they called the christians before the inquiry because they didn't need to call the enseign because the enseign would answer you for whatever way they liked but if they called me before the inquiry they would ask me did I believe in the infallibility of the pope and I'd have to say I don't and I don't I don't believe that the pope is infallible I think if I went through the history of the popes oh you wouldn't believe it either then they would ask me did I worship the virgin Mary and I would have to say no and I don't and I never will I believe that she was a good woman I believe she was a pure woman I believe she was a virgin I believe she was a great servant of God but I can't worship her I don't think she was God I said you're a roman catholic priest once do you think she was God he says I don't believe she was God I believe she was the mother of God I said do you pray to her she says I do pray to her she says you're all the roman catholics and forty-three of you pray to her I was talking to them in forty-three yes and Donnie Holbrook, forty-seven Daniel, Newton Hart, Jonathan Dean, the latter all in Austria they all pray all in England, all in Scotland, all in Wales all in America, all in France, all over the world at the same time every day she'll need to be God to hear them all he goes down to the wall as easy as you've ever seen he says you know you're going to upset my faith she says I'll upset your faith all right I don't believe that Mary was God I can't worship Mary so I would have to answer then they would ask me do I subscribe to the mosque certainly not it's a pagan institution don't ever try to tell me that a man takes away a virgin and creates Christ I don't believe that rubbish oh no don't you tell me that an old priest can create Christ and then put him to death it's a pagan life my dear friend I've argued with the clever priests about this one of them said to me once when Jesus said this is my body that's exactly what he meant it was his body I said my dear minister when Jesus said I am the door did he become a door? when Jesus said I am the true vine did he become a vine? when Jesus said I am the light did he become some sort of light? I said to him did I hear you saying when he held the bread out and said this is my body do you know where he was then? he said he was at the Passover table I said was he lying or standing? he said I think he was reclining and I think he was out he said he was reclining and I said his body stretched out his feet there and his body and he's lying on his elbow and he lifts his hand says this is my body was it another body? it were two body feet he saw that immediately if it is another body then look the two bodies because the other one is lying there ah it's a baloney don't let's waste time on it my dear friends I would have to answer I would have to answer I don't believe in that pagan stuff and if I said I didn't believe in the infallibility of the poop and I can't worship Mary and I don't believe in the pagan mosque then I would be burned let me say this Rome burned thousands and thousands and thousands and she was drunken with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus and let me say this and there are Roman Catholics here bless you for coming let me say this God will give the Roman Catholic Church judgment for that yet let me say that in the dark ages lived a Saint Augustine was one of the Roman Catholic monks at that time Saint Augustine said this he said to put a heretic as he called him to put a heretic to death would be to introduce upon earth an inexpiable crime and he was right that was Saint Augustine talking back to the Pope and he said to put a man to death for what you call heresy is going to introduce unto earth an inexpiable crime and it's a crime that God won't look past God is going to judge this Roman system for this I'll tell you what Saint Bernard of Clarevaux sometimes we sing some hymns here written by Saint Bernard of Clarevaux written by a Roman Catholic monk how sweet the name of Jesus sounds yes you know friends I was arguing with a brethren I'm always in argument argument take brethren the other day I said come round and look and somebody moaned at me and said no you're not getting it I said that's funny you know that you sing hymns written by Roman Catholic monks and you wouldn't let me in that took him back a bit he says sometimes we stand up and sing old wrestling hymns with our hearts beating fast and no wonder for there were good ones but a referee come he'd get an ordeal wouldn't he here's what Saint Bernard said Saint Bernard of Clarevaux Saint Bernard who cannot be accused of leniency where hertorodoxy was concerned he recommended recitation followed by excommunication of prison but never the death penalty that was Saint Bernard he stood up you know you put them out of the church if you like and take their land off them if you want to or put them in prison you're not allowed to put them to death they were good men they were men who sang the Catholic song let's give them all the credit we can let me say this you know it says here the emperor Frederick the second defined his jurisprudence more clearly from 1220 this is in the 1200s supported by Pope Honorius the third and above all by Gregory the ninth he established against the heretics of the empire in general a legislation in which the penalties of death banishment and confiscation of property were formulated so clearly as to be henceforth incontestable you know Gregory the ninth the Pope he so set the courts and so did down the laws it was like being tried in Russia you haven't a chance you can't even confess the thing they burned the men they burned them you go around the history of the world tell me now who is drunken with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus you know worldly sinners would go to the court and say yes I believe the Pope's infallible they could get out of it already they didn't believe a word of it and they can tell lies but men of God and women of God couldn't tell lies the Roman Catholic church born Christians martyrs of Jesus is a word that's in here ah this is the system that's going to ride the beast isn't it this is the system going to ride the beast didn't I tell you this bitch he's another bitch it was not till 1676 now that was not so very long back is it 1676 that Charles II caused the Inquisition to be abrogated and obtained a decision that in cases of atheism blasphemy, heresy and other religious offenses and ecclesiastical courts should be confined to the penalties of excommunication removal from office degradation and other ecclesiastical means essential now Scotland was much later than England in giving up persecution and bloodshed and so late 1696 a student of medicine aged 18 named Aitkenhead was accused of heresy and slain by the Roman Catholic Church in Edinburgh and you're only 250 years back see that book you'll get all the information that you wanted if you were honest enough about it and there were scholars compiled that and there were thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of the best men and women that ever walked into there born by the pagan Roman Church and I'll tell you God will thank her for it don't you think that God has forgotten if some of the leaders in this country have forgotten God hasn't and she's going to be judged and she's going to be judged when the great tribulation comes let's look back at chapter 17 again you know we were looking at this beast and it had seven heads and ten horns in verse 3 next week we'll be doing this verse 12 and the ten horns which thou saw'st are ten kings oh let's get that quite clear these ten kings see verse 16 and the ten horns which thou saw'st upon the beast shall hate the whore for these kings are going to hate her and shall make her desolate and naked and shall eat her flesh and burn her with fire for God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will and this is not just God permitting it this is God directing it you know I stood by one evening when Lord Bruce Lee that is Bob Bruce Lee was speaking to Hugh Gatskill the honourable Hugh Gatskill let me say I mean that because I would never like to call Mr Wilson honourable I don't think he is I may as well be blunt about it but I think that Hugh Gatskill was honourable and I believe had he been the leader of the Labour Party as he should have been if God had spared him it would be a different issue even with the Labour Party in Austria today because I think he was an honourable man and I'm not a Labour man at all but I heard Bob Bruce Lee speaking to Hugh Gatskill and saying do you believe that there will be a European economic community in the common market and Hugh Gatskill said certainly Bob it's bound to come there's going to be a United States of Europe now he believed that and he believed it was coming and I believe that he would have taken the Labour Party into it too and Bob would have been long headed also and said you know so you're going to have an economic community you're going to get these ten together and you're going to have everything in the one basket it's to be a common market he said yes and Bob would be said Bob would be said to Gatskill do you think that you can have a united economic policy with each one of the ten having a different foreign policy if you unite economically you have to unite politically and that is very true because I can't see how he can take us in and all the rest going and Italy and France and everybody else have a different foreign policy if they're going to have one common economic policy I don't think you can have that and I would have liked to have bought in but I wasn't allowed to have bought in because I would have liked to have said listen this if you're going to have an economic policy a united one and a united political policy you have to have a united ecclesiastical policy and I think the Antichrist will see that because he's going to take over the common market but he's going to unite the churches and whether the Protestants have also liked this or not I have to be blunt on both sides and I am one of the Roman Catholic friends said to me there's one thing about you you're fierce but you're fair I think that's very nice of him look my dear friends whether we Protestants like it or not the Roman Catholic Church is going to take over his land and that's not in the too far distant future either I can tell you this that this whole ecumenical movement that's working now for the unity of churches I'll take it as the Roman Catholic Church I'll take them over lock, stock, shut them down and they're finished and I'll tell you if the beast who is the Antichrist he's going to be wise enough to see this he's going to see this and for a moment or two he will allow the Roman Catholic Church to ride the beast no use looking down into the 42 months and telling me that this is a person down there no use of trying to tell me that this is literal Babylon I can tell you from Isaiah 13 that literal Babylon is blotted out and will never be inhabited again but this whole Babylonish religion went first of all into the Philistines then it went into the Judaizers then it came across the world and the Roman Catholic Church has accepted almost everything of it the woman and child worship the chain and the key it has accepted a lot of things my dear friends I want to tell you tonight that this is the one who was plumpened with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus this is the one this is the one that will be there this is the one that's going to ride the beast this is the one that's taken over the world church next week we'll see the judgments of this whole
