Welcome to the Lord's Challenge, our weekly quarter-hour broadcast bringing the reality of God's Word to all people everywhere. Stay tuned as Joshua Daniel challenges us to a walk with God and the corresponding impact that will have on our lives, families and society today. You know folks, when you come towards the end of the journey, like I have arrived at, you don't want to see fake religion. It has got to be real. You know, it can't be just wishful thinking which does not produce anything. But we shall go over some of those elements that appear to be so sadly missing in today's profession of religion. Let us turn to Isaiah chapter 21. Here is a prophecy of Isaiah the prophet concerning the fall of Babylon. Sixth verse. For thus said the Lord unto me, Go set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth. Go set a watchman and let him declare. And of course, the watchman saw a chariot and he cried, a lion, my Lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime. I am set in my ward whole nights and so on. And in the 11th verse, there is a further call. Watchman, what of the night? What of the night? I do not know whether some of you are considering at all the trends of our time, how history is being made by the subtle moves of various governments. We are ordinary people. And all we seem to think, you know, there are a lot of people who only think of their bowl of potatoes or rice. That's all they think of. Their little bowl. And now we have graduated to another factor, the bank balance. And we imagine that's all there is to our lives. Watchman or the bowl of potatoes or watchman over their bank balance. And of course, if you ask me, I hate to see a spot on the carpet. You know, people carry cups of coffee around. It's a kind of fashion these days. Children, we taught, sit at the table and finish your food and drink. Now, we can't enforce that because food and drink goes everywhere. Whatever it is, you lay a beautiful white carpet and then somebody spills a lot of coffee on it. Oh, disgusting sight. I don't like even a spot. Well, the carpet is not more valuable than your friend. So that's wrong again. You may have a strong dislike and disinclination to a little spot on your carpet, such as I have. But the person who inadvertently tipped his cup or something is far more important than that carpet. Now, the issues of our day, which we have practically shut our eyes to, are so vital. And they are so far removed from the thinking of the great people of the past. For instance, all of us have read about Christopher Columbus. Is anybody here going to tell me he was the first astronaut? You know, you get some very ignorant people in a Christian congregation. Very ignorant people. And they don't want to be enlightened either. Now, I'm going to read a little portion from why Christopher Columbus set out. All right, we heard of the spice trade and Vasco da Gama finding a route to the east and so on and so forth. But let me tell you, I too did not realize that Christopher Columbus had a lofty vision. I didn't know that. I just took him as one of those who discovered, or rather the one who opened up America and so on. This is from his own words. They don't tell you that in your classroom, do they? No. They expunge those words. And we say, oh, my professor says, rubbish. Our Lord Jesus Christ desired to perform a very obvious miracle in the voyage to the Indies to confront me and the whole people of God. And then another little snippet, how he crossed the Atlantic. The fact that the gospel must still be preached to so many lands, this is what convinces me. You know, my friends, I asked the congregation last Sunday, how many of you do you think came here with this purpose? No. Far from it. It's a very earthly purpose, which motivates us. But you see, my dear friends, we are called to be watchmen. God said, behold, I have set you as a watchman and thou shalt hear the word at my mouth and warn them from me. If you don't, I will require their blood at your hands. Ezekiel, the third chapter, please. 17 and 18. Son of man, I have made you a watchman unto the house of Israel. Therefore, hear the word at my mouth and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, thou shalt surely die and thou givest him not warning nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way to save his life. The same wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at your hand. You see, my dear friends, there is also a responsibility which comes to us when we follow the Lord Jesus. We should hear his voice and pass it on. If it is a word which is meant to encourage people in well-doing, by all means. You see, even history has become very different today. When the dictator of Italy gassed with poison gas, the people in Ethiopia, Abyssinia, the world was outraged. And all the time, and when Hitler broke his commitments and just invaded Czechoslovakia and his forces began, they first took Austria. The world was outraged at the broken commitments or agreements. There was moral outrage. Today, the moral fiber is gone. You know, when it comes to a man marrying a man, what do you expect? The extinction of a nation. Rubbish. And for telling this basic fact, a man is thrown into jail. What kind of law is that? And who are the perpetrators or the promulgators of such legislation? They must be morally irresponsible people. For thus said the Lord unto me, Go set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth. Let's pray. O loving Father, at a time when there are no moral values anymore, O my Father, when godlessness runs rampant, forgive us, O teach it to our children, that they too may become builders of the kingdom of God. Hear our prayer, in Jesus' holy name.
