W.F. Kumuyi

William Folorunso Kumuyi (1941–present). Born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesa, Osun State, Nigeria, to an Anglican family, W.F. Kumuyi grew up in a strict Christian home, regularly reading the Bible and attending church. His early faith waned in secondary school due to a principal’s atheistic teachings, but he rekindled his spiritual journey in 1963, becoming born-again on April 5, 1964, at age 23, influenced by a Gospel church group. A brilliant scholar, he graduated with a first-class honours degree in mathematics from the University of Ibadan in 1967, later earning a postgraduate certificate in education from the University of Lagos. While lecturing in mathematics at Lagos in 1973, he started a Bible study group with 15 students, laying the foundation for the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, which became Deeper Life Bible Church in 1982 after his 1975 expulsion from the Apostolic Faith Church for preaching Holy Spirit baptism. Known for his expository sermons emphasizing holiness, Kumuyi grew the church to over a million members across 60 countries, with its Lagos headquarters seating 30,000. He authored books like Daily Manna and Kumuyi: Defender of the Faith, and launched Global Crusade with Kumuyi in 2021. Married to Abiodun Olowu from 1980 until her death in 2009, he has two sons, Jeremiah and John, and wed Esther Blaize in 2010. Kumuyi said, “Holiness is not a destination; it is a daily walk with God.”

Chapter 32, verse 17. In Jeremiah 32, verse 17, Ah, Lord God, behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy good power, and stretched out, ah, and there is nothing too hard for thee. The conviction of a real child of God, when you hear those great and mighty promises of what God said he would do, for you to say, Yes, Lord, I know I can do that. After all, you made the heavens and the earth, and there is nothing too hard for you. That's why Jeremiah was not in any doubt when, later, in this same chapter, chapter 32, when God gave him that great, incredible promise in verse 39, and I will give them one heart and one way. Jeremiah grew popular with that, because he had said, I love God, you are the creator of the heavens and the earth, and with your great power, you have created everything, there is nothing too hard for you. And number 32, you also have, the conviction you also have, when you hear when God says, I'll give them one heart, and one way, and that they might fear me forever, for the good of them, and their children are to them, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good, but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. Your response ought to be, yes, Lord, I know I can do that, because there is nothing too hard for you. Luke chapter 1, Luke chapter 1, I'm reading from verse 37, Luke chapter 1, verse 37, for with God, nothing shall be impossible, that's the conviction of a real child of God. Praise God, nothing shall be impossible, when you later hear now in verse 72, to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and then to remember this holy covenant, the oath which is sweared to our father Abraham, that he will grant us, that we, being believers, out of the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear. For they ought to take it, teeny cowardly person, who is almost always overweighed by the fear of man, and the Lord is giving him the promise, I'll make him to serve me without fear, and to serve me in holiness and righteousness, before me, before me, all the days of our life. Now that what the conviction for with God, nothing shall be impossible, what is it to believe, that you will do what you are said you will do. Romans chapter 4, I'm reading from verse 20, Romans chapter 4, verse 20, the conviction, the confession of believers in God's great promises. Romans chapter 4, verse 20, he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, he staggered not, like a drunken man, he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but he was standing in faith, giving glory to God, when God has promised him to do something seemingly impossible, seemingly incredible, something that God said, this is what you will do. Now you come with the conviction, the confession, you will not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief, being fully persuaded, that what he has promised, he was able also to perform, because he was strong in faith, giving glory to God, what he said he will do, he will do. And the Lord is about to do something great in your heart, something great in your family, take away the stone in your heart, even the heart of flesh, and bring that holiness, holiness without hypocrisy, holiness within, holiness without, holiness in the heart, holiness in the life, to serve the Lord in holiness and righteousness before the almighty God. The almighty God will look at this holiness and say, that in the world he has given, the Lord is able to do it and will do it. In Hebrews chapter 7 verse 25, where Paul, he is able, that is conviction, the conviction of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, he is able, the conviction of Paul the apostle, he is able. The conviction of John the baptist, he is able to make out of these stones children of Abraham, he is able. And the conviction of all the children of God, that look at the great promises of God. I will deliver my people from sin, because Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins, and if the Son of God shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. For you to have the conviction, and then to make the confession, that he is able. Wherefore he is able also to save them, so the Ottomans that come unto God by him, see, they ever needed to make intercession for them. For such, and high priest, became us, is our high priest, standing between us and the almighty God, to reconcile us to God, and to take the righteousness of God, and impart that into us. And it says, in verse 26, for such a high priest became us, who is holy, humblest, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens. And it says in Hebrews chapter 4, reading from verse 11, Hebrews 4, verse 11, Hebrews 4, 11, let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall out of the same manner of unbelief. Let us now be able to enter into the great, wonderful promises of God. In verse 14, see in the end, that we are the great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God. Let us hold fast our profession, for we are not a high priest which cannot be touched by the feeling of infirmities, but was not constantly, like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain wealth, mercy, and find wealth, grace, to help in time of need. The Lord will do what he said he can do. He has given us the promise, he has given us the promise of everything he has promised. He seals to the uttermost, he cleanses from every defilement and idolatry, he takes all sins away, no matter how deep rooted the sins are, in any heart, in any life, he takes everything away. And he has given us the promise of living in holiness before him all the days of our lives. He can do it, he will do it. Psalm 51, in Psalm 51, a meeting from the saints, here this man, the king, he let everything, he pushed everything aside, he knew this is what he needed, and the Lord did it for him, and the Lord is going to do it for us. He holds, but says, Psalm 51, thou desirest truth in the inner parts, and in the hidden parts thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Wash me with the rest, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me, wash me He says promise you'll do it And then the man, the kid is praying Oh Lord, I know where I've been, I know what I've done I know how dead she and the child are become Now I come, wash me, and I shall no longer But still create in me a clean heart Oh God
