Waiting Upon the Lord
Brian Guerin

Brian Guerin (birth year unknown–present). Brian Guerin is an American pastor, author, and founder of Bridal Glory International and Ascend Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Raised in a non-religious home, he became a Christian in college after a profound spiritual experience he described as a divine encounter with a falcon, which ignited his pursuit of intimacy with God. Guerin serves as the senior leader of Ascend Church, where his preaching emphasizes a deep relationship with Jesus, the power of God’s presence, and preparing believers for Christ’s return. He founded Ascend Academy, a ministry school, and travels globally, speaking at conferences and on platforms like TBN and GOD-TV, often highlighting signs, wonders, and prophetic insights. His books, including God of Wonders: Experiencing God’s Voice Through Signs, Wonders, and Miracles, To Know Him: Discovering Experiential Intimacy with God, The Altar: Preparing for the Return of Jesus Christ, and Divine Encounter, focus on spiritual growth and encountering God. Known for sermons like “Mary’s at His Feet” and “The Secret Place,” he encourages distraction-free prayer and devotion, drawing from Scriptures like Luke 10:41–42 and Matthew 6:6. Guerin’s ministry seeks to draw the Church into closeness with Christ, which he calls the “highest prize in life.” He said, “Your heart can burn, and you still not know Him.”

Sermon Summary
Brian Guerin emphasizes the significance of waiting upon the Lord, drawing from Psalms 46 and Isaiah 40 to illustrate how being still allows us to know God and experience His strength. He explains that waiting is not just a passive act but a powerful posture that leads to clarity and understanding of God's will in our lives. Guerin highlights that in our busy lives, we often miss the opportunity to encounter God and see Him exalted in our circumstances. He encourages the congregation to embrace stillness as a means to renew their strength and gain insight into their paths. Ultimately, waiting upon the Lord transforms our lives, enabling us to soar like eagles above our challenges.
Sermon Transcription
So if you wanna turn to a couple of passages, I got, look, I got the fancy two ribbons in my book, but however you can, hold two spots. First one's gonna be Psalm 46, 10, that we all know. Be still and know that I'm God. And then the second one is Isaiah 40. Just kinda wanna go back and forth. And we'll see how far we can get. If I need to go into next week, that's fine, but how many of you know waiting upon the Lord is massive? Both in life, generically for the promises and God's purpose and plan, but also applicable in daily life of prayer. And that's probably more the angle I'll hit it from this morning, but being still and waiting upon the Lord, I see them both overlap. So Psalm 46, and then you can go ahead and hold a spot in Isaiah 40. And that'll be good. So I'll probably read all of Psalm 46. Is that okay? Wash you in the water of the word. There's only 10 verses, but it's really powerful. And I feel like Psalm 46, so the very last verse is where it says, be still and know that I am God. All of us know this verse just about, many of us have these bumper stickers and refrigerator magnets. But I feel like the whole Psalm is really building and telling you what's accessible. And then the how to is verse 10. So it's all building of what's accessible, what can be made available. Many people believe Psalm 46 is actually talking, projecting prophetically into the millennium when Jesus reigns. And then it's basically how I see it is like, how is all this accessible? You must be still. It's the key at the end. And I look at the whole Psalm as the doorway. And then the sons of Korah saying, look, if you want to walk through that doorway, the key to open it is be still and know. So it's really powerful. I see Isaiah 40 in a similar way. But it's awesome. Right here, it says verse one. First off, just interesting. If you back up, it says to the chief musician, a Psalm of the sons of Korah, a song for Alamoth. And most people know this, but Psalms, basically it means a song or praise or to be played with a harp. So isn't that awesome? Next time you read the Psalms, realize like these were songs to be sung before the Lord and unto and about. But I love this Psalm because this one specifically is from the sons of Korah. Most are from David, we know. But the sons of Korah, I taught on that not long ago. Korah straight up turned to revolt against Moses. Back in like number 16, he was in the Levitical role, Levites worshiping. Got to his head and he rallied up a crew to kind of turn on Moses. And many of you will remember Moses said, all right, come this time tomorrow, bring your whole crew. This is my rendition. Bring your squad and we'll see who, God will back who he's with. God will back, God appoints who he anoints. And if you're off, bad day for you. But if I am, we'll see. So Moses and his squad are over here. Korah's like Moses, you don't know any better. Look, God's using me. Had no idea he's being used because he's connected to Moses, whose face is shining. Don't ever start thinking. Listen, that's a whole nother teaching. But Korah steps up and I love this about the sons of Korah. When you ever see a Psalm they wrote, they knew better. They said, oh no, we know our dad. He gets arrogant sometimes. He thinks he has it going. I've thought about this. Like the other day we were with dad and he was skipping a rock. We were skipping rocks on the lake. At one time, his rock went farther and he thought he was like Tom Brady for weeks. We know better. Korah, there he goes again, thinking he's better than Moses. And so I feel like the sons of Korah are like, no, we've been here. We're going to this side. We know whose face shone. We know who God talked to through a burning bush. We know who the pillar of fire. Not on my watch. But Korah is still over here. And you all remember number 16, the earth opened up and swallowed him. That happened. That's crazy. That really happened. So sons of, oh, I think it's in Chronicles. If you read it closely, it says the earth opened up, swallowed Korah and friends. And it says the sons of Korah were not among them. They did not die. Meaning they sided with Moses. And sure enough, their work stands to be true in the word of God. It's beautiful. They loved God. But they were definitely Levites under his order. They just came out and stood true, I believe. So that's who's penning this. In a song for Alamoth, I love this. And you worship leaders would appreciate this. Alamoth, it basically means, some people believe it's a high-pitched frequency, meaning this psalm, the way the sons of Korah saw it, is that it should go in tandem with high-pitched instrument or soprano, like women voices with sopranos, hit this high-pitched. So next time you're like, be still and know. I'm teasing. I'm not a soprano at all. But it's wild that this psalm is meant to go, they had a frequency of heaven they put with it. Isn't that wild? And some people thought it went well with, I forget, it's like the flute, but it's called oboe? Oboe, is that an instrument? What is it? Piccolo? Piccolo, okay. I want to say it's oboe though. I'm about to go Wikipedia on y'all with my phone if I had it up here. Anyway, my mom actually played the flute. You ought to break that back out, mom. She'd be getting us in the glory. That's where you blow from the side and all. She was amazing. But anyway, I love that. They even, I feel like, and unto these worship leaders, I know like Porter, we were talking recently, not too, too long ago, but him and Missy hit this pocket, man. And all of them, Shireen, they all hit them all the time, where it's like they cross over. And they hit these lyrics and frequencies that are there. And I feel like that's what they're penning from. And I love that. So these sons of Korah, this is where the Psalm 46 comes out of. And in verse one, it says, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea, though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling, there is a river whose stream shall make glad the city of God. I love this verse. I'm telling you, I feel like all of these verses are, the sons of Korah are saying, hey, this is available. There's a river, I'm telling you. It makes glad the city of God. It streams. This main river, it supports the whole city, but don't get caught. It streams even, run off, and will get infiltrated every area of your life. And well, wow, sons of Korah, really, how? How? He's like, I'm glad you asked. Be still and know. Not the only way, but it's a big key he lands it with at the end. In this verse four is why they think they're kind of prophesying to the millennium because there's a river whose stream shall make glad the city of God. City of God in their days, Jerusalem, and there's no river in the city. The closest one's Jordan, 20 miles away. So they believe they're projecting to Ezekiel 47 or the millennial reign where the river's running straight through the city and out from the temple. But we all know what Jesus paid for makes it available even now. Do you guys realize that? Of course there's heaven to come, but there's heaven now because of what Jesus paid for. He sat down and said, it's finished, it's done. And so this being still again amidst many more things, biblical is super key, but there's a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God. How many of you need your life to be glad and filled with the rivers of life? Yeah, myself included. The holy place of the tabernacle of the most high. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved. God shall help her just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved. He uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Come behold the works of the Lord who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two. He burns the chariot in the fire. How many of you need him to do that to your enemies? Figuratively speaking. Sometimes we go literal, huh? That's when I love them songs like, break the teeth of my enemies, Lord. You know, you start praying songs. He's like, no, no, love your enemies. But in the spirit, you know. He makes war cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two. He burns the chariot with fire. How, Lord? I'm glad you asked. Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. So this being still is so key. Let's jump to Isaiah 40, and then I'm just gonna talk to you from my heart from both, if that's okay. Isaiah 40, verses 27 through 31. And again, I propose the whole chapter builds onto Isaiah 40, verse 31. Those who wait upon the Lord, but for the sake of time and such, we'll just even start 27. There's so much here, it's really good. You guys there, you're quick. I told y'all ahead of time, did y'all have the spot already saved? Okay, verse 27. Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, my way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God? Have you guys, we'll stop right there, ever felt like your ways are hidden from God and your just claim, meaning what you're due in life, like the reward of what you should be walking in is just overlooked and not seen by God. Have you guys ever felt like that? Just overlooked by God. I love this verse where it's building in Isaiah 40. He's basically saying, O Jacob, why do you say that? Your way is hidden. God doesn't know your just reward and what should be your lot in life. You think God doesn't see that? I'm telling you, wait upon Him, and you'll see it come to pass. This is really key. And I wanna put the emphasis back on us because I think sometimes we often ride too much upon the sovereignty of God. He is sovereign, but you'll see throughout the Christian life and true biblical sound theology, there's always something on our part. You know what I mean? It starts to get a little sloppy in an error, honestly, when you ride solely upon the sovereignty of God alone. It produces an unfruitful life because this is a relationship, like it's a cooperation. And so, right, God will do it all. He'll be there for you in refuge, river that makes glad the city of God, but you must be still. Right here, as you felt overlooked by God, this, that, and the other, wait upon the Lord. There's something we must do, and so that's what I'm proposing this morning. We've got to wait upon God. Verse 28, have you not known, have you not heard, the everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth, never faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, he increases strength. How many felt like you need increased strength, increased might and ability? Yeah, look back up to the end of 28. There's a real key here. It says God basically neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. Isn't that interesting? They throw right in there. They connect understanding to not being weary. So it's saying basically God's never weary. His understanding is always maxed out. It's unsearchable. Meaning the flip side of that, as soon as you start getting into weariness, your understanding gets blurry. We need to know this. If we hit pockets of walking out weariness, it gets cloudy. You start to not see clearly, and this is why I see it really overlapping with Isaiah 40 and Psalm 46, because you be still and know. Clarity comes back. When you step into a weary state, things get cloudy. But verse 29, he gives power to the weak, to those who have no might, he increases strength. Verse 30, even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. I love that. So like it's saying basically even the youths in their prime, you know, like I'm looking at Joshua here. He's in, what are you, 19? How old? 20? 17? Bro, you're a definite youth. So where's, because I thought he was on the edge. Y'all were on the edge of youth. You're definitely youth. Anyway, what's that? Yeah, Joseph. Okay, anyway. But say you're in your prime. You still are though. Like you could run laps around all of us. But I love that the word of God here is saying, look, even the youths in their prime, they'll ultimately get weary and faint. But those who wait on the Lord, that's how often seasoned veterans, like Holly's mom. I mean, they walk with God, they know to wait, and they stay strong through every season. And the youths are like roller coasters often. You aren't, because you love God, Joshua. But waiting upon the Lord is so vital, both in the natural and the spirit. Strength comes in so much more. Verse 31, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Okay, so back to Psalm 46. And yeah, I don't plan to keep you long. Just want to talk to you from my heart. So be still and know. That word still there, kind of a quick study, if that's okay with you guys. But that word still there means to cease and become helpless. We've got to learn this. This is what waiting upon the Lord is. Literally, you shut down in your full trust and expectations upon God. And we've got to live this way. It's such an overcomer type lifestyle. But to know, listen to this, if you be still and know, that word know there means know with certainty. How many of you need to know for sure there are some things right now concerning God, His will, His voice? Being still, you'll know for sure. I'm just letting you into my life. When there's something very dire I need to decide on that's according to destiny, this is my number one to go to, be still, wait. Be still, I'll lock up, doesn't matter if it's days. Until I know. How long do you wait upon the Lord until He comes? How long do I just be still, tell you no? Well, and man, I was thinking about it. Like, I'm getting ahead of myself, I may do it later. But there are levels of God we'll never know until we're still. And I believe a lot of the Christian life is left with so many things unlocked. Even unto the Lord in eternity, I believe we're gonna get before Him and be like, yeah, there's so much more I had for you. Jesus told the disciples, there's so much more I would love to share with you, but I can't. But those that learn to be still and wait, both in life and in prayer, I'm telling you, you unlock a level of knowing that's unavailable to the rest. And it is super key in life. And how many of you love to sit still and quiet for long periods of time? Nobody. Oh, Claudia, okay, awesome. But my point is, it's not a natural inclination of man. We love to be busy, we love Martha, we love our son, and especially this generation is creeping on the young ones. Man, the attention span nowadays is, you know, I think me and the kids were watching like an old one, just so you know, we only watch like that, which is super clean. Other than that, we don't play with it. We don't need trash in our eye gates and ear gates. You know, so we're watching like Fox and the Hound, old cartoon movie. Y'all are like, man, that's so lame. I know, but we love it. We don't know any different. So we're watching Fox and the Hound. I'm not kidding. What do you call it when they're doing the, the what you call it before it starts with the letters and starring and credits? Is it before? No, it's the start of it, building, I guess. Yeah, and that thing took like 15 minutes. I was like, they would lose this generation. They would never watch this movie. You remember that, babe? It was like, and then a camera would go through a forest. You didn't even see a fox yet or a hound, it's just, and then it, boom. And then a word. And then, and we haven't even started the movie yet. Yeah, and I said, man, the attention span nowadays, it's so, you know, quick, but how many of you know God hasn't changed and he's not going to? He's got a way about him and you're either going to yield to it or miss it. And he's good either way. He loves you. His son died for you, but he's immovable. And it looks like Moses, come up on the mountain. I want to talk to you. Good Lord, it better be in 15 minutes because I got to go here. I got to check my Instagram. I got emails. Chick-fil-A, if they take too long, I tell you what, I'm doing mobile order. I've never done that, but I've seen it. You know, Moses comes up, you can read it. Says he waits one day, nothing. A day and a night, 24 hours. Two days, nothing. God's nowhere to be found. Three days, nowhere. Four, five, six days, and finally the cloud descends. See, we want glory. Everybody loves the big Christian talk, but nobody want to wait on God. Keep your fast pace. We need God. Eagles wait. Chickens run around and eat the ground, dirt of the ground. We've got too many chickens in the Christian life, I'm telling you. Those who wait upon the Lord. So day six came, Moses, a cloud of glory came. Day seven, Bible says Moses went up higher into the cloud and spoke with God face to face. And so we need to get off of the cultural spin of whatever it is. I'm telling you, if you want to know God, if you're content with where you're at, that's fine. I'm not. I'm not trying to get to heaven and Him be like, I had so much more. But I'm telling you on that high mountain where glory descends, some things you'll never know or understand until we're still. And this, I'm talking to the prayer life. Of course, in the natural, you know, if you get too fast paced like Abraham, according to the promise of God, and you want to rush it in your own time and not wait upon the Lord, you produce ishmaels. Things like this. So we know that happens. But to apply it in everyday life, we must be still and wait upon God. And that is what it is. It's still, to cease. A lot of us always have to have noise and stuff going or even prayer, like saying something. I'm telling you, the generals know waiting on the Lord. And I don't care if this lands with two people in here, you will shake the globe if you learn this. I didn't learn it till oh six. So I went to Bible College, Assemblies of God. Lot of shakalaka, waving flags, praying for the nations. And we still do all that and love it. I said, do it more. But oh six, I came across this and said, wait a minute. This is a contemplative prayer posture where I can wait on God and he'll come. They're like, oh yeah. And I saw it, Chris, when I saw it in the word, I said, oh, this is it, it's over. Begin to wait on the Lord. Let me show you what it looks like. It's super complicated. You find your good spot and you cease. Helpless, that word means. Be still, it is literally that. But I'm not doing anything. I gotta be doing something. I feel like this is wasting my time. Hours go by. But all of a sudden. I'm telling you, don't dare try what I'm telling you. I really mean this. This is for real, this works. So I remember I first started trying. You do nothing. You don't pray. You don't ask. That's prayer too, we teach that. I may get to that another time. Be still and know. Do you want to know God? Then be still. It's very much like a body of water in the earth that when it gets so still, it reflects that which is above to the T. When it's perfectly still, it's the exact image of above. When it's disturbed and busy, it's all cloudy. You can't see anything. Well, our life is like that quite often. And sons of Cora are saying, look, you want the river that makes glad the city of God flowing through your life? Isaiah is saying, look, you want to gain strength again? You want to run and not, that run, I'm just leaving my notes totally, but that run and not be weary speaks of the short-term seasons where we have to go through them at a rapid rate and excel and accelerate. But you'll run and not be weary. How many know the short-term seasons God has you in and he's meant for you to go through them quickly? They'll walk through the valley of the shadow of death and things like this, they're not long, but we're not to be weary. And then the walk, but not feign is the longer seasons. How many of you know if you're like going from here to California by foot, you're not going to start sprinting? You're going to walk. That speaks of the longer journeys, meaning that these are 14 years, you know, of Paul and Jacob, but you won't feign. I love Proverbs 24 says, if you feign in the day of adversity, your strength is small. I love that the Bible just hits you straight between the eyes like that. It doesn't say, hey, you can have a better day next week. No, it just says, I'm going to tell you right now, if you feign when times are hard, you're weak. You're soft. You're not made of anything. That's what the Bible says. Well, how you do is waiting upon the Lord, really knowing him, of course, reading the word and so many other things, praying in the Holy Spirit, but waiting upon the Lord, it strengthens you. And when the day of adversity comes, you don't faint. You aren't pushed back by it. And so, but I'll never forget. I started waiting upon God. I was like, what you mean? I can literally sit there. Now you're not drifting in your thoughts. That's what waiting, it means in expectation for him. It would be like you ordered DoorDash and you're expecting, you're starving. You're expecting, looking out of the blind, you're waiting. How many of you ever done that? Isn't that awesome? And they miss the address. You're like, what are you doing? You're four blocks over. I'll see you on my app. Better here, God. No, but so it's an inner posture still like, God, I need you. You're not really praying, but you're waiting on him. You're not letting your thoughts just fly off like a kite. And he comes. I'm telling you, and your strength will be renewed. Clarity comes. It's powerful. And so let me get back to my notes and share it with you. And then I kind of want to do it. Pray with you guys, if that's okay. So watch this in Psalm 46. What I love about it is, real quick, that word know, like I told you, it's know with certainty. Discern God, discover God, very well know God. Endow, experience God. Well, I've got to do something, right? I've got to know, be still. That's your job. I really pray this. And I pray the anointing to wait comes, like a grace to be still. Some of us are so busy. If we're not doing something or checking our phone, we can't like shut it down. And so you are the disturbed waters for life. And you'll never take on that reflection from up above. And God loves you. You're still walking somewhat of destiny, but not all biblically. So I love this. I believe this applies at the end. It says, be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. So this I see as bifold that also applies when we are still, we not only know God, but it allows him to be exalted in the nations of your life. I'm applying this personally. And exalted in the earth of your life. So nations are the sphere of people around your world. And a nation can't be a nation without people. Nations speak of people. The earth speaks of the earth, which is also super key in your life. It's all the workings around everything you do. Your provision, the favor in your life. Basically, when we're still, not only do we begin to know God at a level we never did, but it allows him being exalted in the sphere around you and in your world. And I believe it's really bifold. He says, I am exalted among the nations. And I will be, sorry, let's do this. Levi, you mind helping me? I believe God's saying it twofold. Yeah, if you can just kind of maybe stand right by those stairs. So basically, he says, I will be exalted in the nations. I'll be exalted in the earth, connected to being still and knowing him, right? I believe what God's saying here is be still, and you'll find me, because you'll notice, when you're still, you'll notice I am exalted and where I am exalted. In the nations, among people, and in the earth, number one. Number two, when you're still, it allows me to be exalted. So bifold, meaning, say I'm back, hidden over here, hope I don't mess up production. When we're in the busyness of life, you're down low with the chickens. You can't see anything, you can't see over the mountains, eagles ascend over mountains, so you can't see, where's God, what's he doing in my life? Where's he at amongst the people I'm around, my tribe, at work, everything? Where's he at in the earth? I don't know, but when you're still, you ascend, and then God said, you'll find me, I'll be exalted. When you be still, you'll find me, you'll see me, I'm looking, ah, he's exalted, I see God now. So you know what now to adhere to, what to follow, you know and understand now, changes everything. I've done this for years, I don't know what's going on, I said, you know what, let me just get still. And he goes, you'll find me, be still, and you'll know, I'll be exalted. And then it takes me higher, and I'm looking, I'm like, there's God, finally. And often, where we think God is, is totally not where he's at, if we're honest with ourselves. Almost nine out of 10 times, our own understanding is garbage. So I go to God, and I go, man, he's exalted in the nations, amongst the people, the favorite at our work. Because a lot of times, in destiny, if we're honest, we do this, we say, man, I should be here, in destiny. And why I'm not, this is if we're being real honest with ourselves, why I'm not, is people don't notice enough, that's the nations around you, to exalt me and put me where I should, or you know, whatever it may be, when often, we haven't found God, and we're missing it. And so we find out where he's at, and are drawn to him, and then of course, it also allows him to be exalted in the nations and the earth, being still. Appreciate it, man, just want you to stand there, like a glorious pillar. But being still, that's what it does, it takes us out of the low realm, up higher, and we can see where God's exalted. And then all of a sudden, the nations, that's also family, that's your spouse, relationships, enemies, it allows God to be exalted in the nations, and exalted in the earth, yes, literal nations, but also personally, it's what it does, it allows him to be exalted, and it's beautiful. So back to Isaiah, you don't have to turn there, I'm just gonna share with you some notes. So listen to what wait is, it means wait for, because some versions put that as wait upon those who trust in the Lord, or renew their strength, it's not trust at all, that's off, the Hebrew is wait. And it means wait for, endure, remain, look eagerly for, patiently tarry, I love this one, listen to this also, to bind together by twisting, your life gets bound into God. I look at it as a threefold strand, you get tied into the covenant of God. And isn't that the brilliance of God, when we're doing absolutely nothing is how he's often most glorified. You can't attach it to like, well, I said the right thing in prayer, or I did this anointed flag wave, or whatever, which is awesome, but you're still, literally. So from waiting upon God, being still, real quick, we just highlighted that it does a couple of things, it allows you to know God, know where he's at, but also it allows God to be exalted in the sphere of your life, both dealing with humanity and in the earth. I promise you, like, let's say there was two gardens that got to wait upon God, because it says even in the earth, one garden waited upon God, I promise you, all of the fruit will be abounding and bright, perfect, no bugs will come in and attack it, because God's exalted in that garden, God's exalted in that earth. This other one that's not still, not waiting upon the Lord, it'll be depleted fruit, same water and sun, but God's not exalted there. And this is often the problem with our life, we're not waiting, God can't be exalted in our life, we're not being still, we're in the way. All the bugs will get in on this garden, so forth and so on. It's funny, I used to joke about, I was preaching in Pittsburgh, this is so funny, listen to this, and it came to me in a moment, Pennsylvania somewhere, I think Pittsburgh, and I was talking about those who spend time and wait upon the Lord and spend time in the glory of God, I said, for instance, I just pulled a random example, I said, say there's two squirrels, squirrel, I put him in the glory and the presence of God, take him out, I said, he's going to have the most bright and bushy tail, protect him during the rain, he's going to find all the largest acorns, he just has the glory, God's exalted in his life. This other squirrel, everything goes wrong, can't find the acorns, so the worship leader, I'm not kidding, this happened, I don't think they have it on camera, thank the Lord, he goes, no way, you had no idea, squirrels are like my thing, and he runs up, they were kind of, not hippies, but they're awesome, they're just a different bunch, bongo drums and barefoot and just awesome, he goes, man, squirrels are my thing, he runs up and lifts his shirt, there's going to be a squirrel tattoo on his ribs, I was like, what in the world, only the Lord knew. I'm using squirrels, which is the worship leader's thing, to talk about being in the glory, he's like, yeah, man, whoa, big squirrel tattoo on his ribs, I was like, wow. But there's something to do with waiting upon the Lord, I'm telling you, and what we're going to get into here in a second, you stay full of strength, renewed, high in understanding and clarity. When I see people that are always weary, I can, I just know, I'm not judging, I just know what the Bible says, you're not waiting upon God, period. You don't want to come to me for counsel on that, I'm like, you need to seek God. I'm just tired, I'm weary, wait on God. Well, no, it's all these other complex things, no, the Bible says, wait on the Lord, you'll renew your strength. I mean, unless the Bible's not real to you, and I'm preaching to me plenty, but listen to number one, waiting on God, it renews your strength, and that word renew there means to replace, sprout a new one, a brand new one, not refurbished. You know, sometimes you get like a refurbished phone or something, this is a brand new one. So it's a brand new strength, it's not renewing like an old one. Only God can do this. Renewed strength, how many of you need that? Yes, Lord, well, this is what waiting on God does. Wings like eagles is the second one, you'll mount up on wings like eagles, that's what I touched on a second ago, it takes you from the low realm where you're constantly flying into mountains, obstacles. The way of God is not to go through obstacles, it's to fly over them. And you do it by the wind of the Spirit, and it only comes to those who wait upon the Lord. We're not meant to be like crows and sparrows flapping all the time, we wait on the wind. Zechariah 4 says, it's not by your own might and strength, but by the Spirit of God. And that's what happens, these eagles, you'll never see eagles flapping all desperately, do you? They soar, and they're guided by the Spirit. And so waiting upon the Lord, that's what it does, and all of a sudden that wind comes and lifts you up. And so not only does renewed strength come, but you ascend, and then what happens there is you can now see clearly. And this is how the knowing and the understanding apply. When you're down in it all, that's how I believe you can ascend and see God-exalted eyes here. All this time I thought we were doing this, God. I'm telling you, I sensed it strong this morning that all of us need to every once in a while recalibrate before God and say, God, is this really what you want for my life? Am I really in your will? I mean this, because I'm telling you, I think quite often, I'm preaching to me, we have this preconceived thing set up of what we think God wants to do through us, and we're way off, we're way off. And we're seeing through a biased lens. We think, well, God told me, and everything, and God's like, I didn't tell you none of that. You're interpreting that. And we're walking this whole path, and this is God, and the Lord told me. Or this opportunity, you see the favor and the wind? The door opened. I don't mean nothing. Doors open and close for all kind of people. Well, the door opens, so it's got to be God. Okay, and God's way over here. People that wait, they're not in a hurry. They ascend and they go, whew, oh, there's Levi. There's God, bye. I can't be caught up in Ishmael City. I need to do Isaac. And those that don't wait on the Lord, they're always never knowing, nothing's clear. That's why you don't know. You're always weary, and running, and chasing opportunity, and this, that, and the other. And so I remember hearing the story of a complete general that I admire highly, Kenneth Hagin, Sr. Word of faith. I know some of that got off into interesting, but the solid word I love. And so the Lord came to him in an encounter one time. I heard this, and the Lord told him, he says, hey, are you ready to do what I called you to do now? The last 10 or so years, you've been doing nothing I have for your will. And he was in the ministry. Man of God knew the word, and God said, hey, you're, I never called you to do any of this. He repented, and then went on to do what God had him, had called for him. So I think sometimes we need to be like, you know what, Lord, I'm sorry. I want my bias out of it. Because I'm going to be most content and less weary in what you have for me anyway, and I don't care what it is. I just want to get before you one day, and that be that, and that's cool. So I have all these preconceived and prophetic words that mix, and I thought it meant this, and it's going that way. But let me just wait. And then, whoo. He'll come up, be like, oh my gosh, God's exalted over there. I thought we were going that way. I could feel that. Oh. So you, you attach to him in the exalted places, man. It's just, it's over. It's butter. It's the whole butter on the feet. It's a different dimension. And so, but wings like eagles, it doesn't take you higher. So you're not going against the same mountains over and over. It's never God to take you through constant wilderness, dragged out mountain seasons. It's not how he does it. It's always, we're the problem. Don't ever, and we often think, again, people don't see me, that's why I'm still here. They need to notice it. We're the problem. When God's ready, when you're ready, God can use you. I mean, he had an 11-day journey meant for the wilderness that they drug out for 40 years. So when things are dragging out, it's a good indicator. Like, hold up, Lord, let me wait, because I have to have you exalted in the nations of my life and exalted in the earth. And I've got to also find you where you're exalted so I can go and adhere to that. But the wings take you high, and then there's clarity, because when you're high, you can see your current season better. You see that those mountains are really only molehills, or you see why, like, oh, this all makes sense now. I couldn't see all of it before. And you can see further. So when you ascend high, you can see where you're going, where you're at, and where you're going. It's the whole word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. It lights everything up. And so when I see weary people that are confused, we're not waiting on the Lord. And again, I've been here plenty. I'm telling you, one weekend of locking up, waiting upon the Lord will revolutionize destiny. I mean it. By strength, ability, even one of those words for strength, lo and behold is chameleon of all things in Hebrew. And I believe why is because everybody knows the greatest attribute of chameleon is it can change hue and brightness according to what season it's in. And I believe it enables you the strength of God. How many of you know sometimes your strength is not strength as we know it? And that's what God is a master at doing, instilling strength that's needed in that season. You can change and flow with the season and be hidden from your enemy and things like this. But it comes in such a supernatural way. And then you can see clearly the now and where we're going. And it makes all the difference in the world. So I just want to encourage you guys and we'll pray that being still, knowing he's God waiting upon the Lord, that's where it says his understanding is unsearchable. You see like this revelatory side that ties into waiting. You know, and we must access it again. I know it's not popular. Nobody, especially nowadays, everything's fast and noisy and busy. But at some point in time, if you really want to walk where the generals have walked, we've got to unlock this. I mean it. And if you don't want to, no worries. But I can just assure you, the lake of your life will be disturbed all your day. And the clear reflection of heaven will never be seen in you. I don't want that. Jesus would pray all night. He'd wait upon the mountain. You know, and so it really looks like that. I want to encourage you guys. And I'm going to pray for a supernatural grace where you're completely still. I mean, no music, anything, wait, cease, become helpless. And I can promise you after an hour, sometimes you're like, this is useless. Your mind's running over, you got to bring it back. Mind runs over here, bring it back. But the moment you hit God and that wind hits your wings the first time, you'd be like, oh my gosh, I had no idea. So then you wait again and you hit it higher. I had no idea. And then your friends around you go, what's different about you? How are you so strong and full of ability and might in this season where everything's against you? I didn't notice. Didn't notice anything's against me. I had no clue. There's such strength. The young ones are even fainting and becoming weary. I know, but I don't know. You're older. I don't know. Some of this wind came, just waited upon him. I was still. How do you know God so? How do you know that you know? God told you that. Oh, I was still. It was so clear. I saw it. I got out of the noise and then I saw him exalted. Now I know. And how many of you know, when you have a crystal clear, you know that you know God spoke, you're immovable. A crystal clear knowing that God has you there and why and for how long or whatever. And it changes everything. So I wanna encourage you, the generals, they master this and this is why they can be put more weight and responsibility can be put on them because they're always full of strength. They wait upon God. A perfect picture of this is with Elijah. Remember he called the drought and three years or so. And then he was getting ready to bring it back. He's praying seven times. It looks like waiting upon the Lord, fetal position. He gets down, he prays. Bible says, reiterates it in James and he's down there fetal position actually, like a baby being birthed. One time he's waiting. Who knows how long this took? Hours, could have been a whole day. Looks up, nothing. Two times, three, four, five, seven times, it says a cloud the size of a man's hand came. And then he said, Ahab, better eat. Rain's coming. Eat, you know, this, that, and the other. And then Ahab took off in his chariot, I think to Jezreel. Bible says, Elijah girded himself up. The hand of the Lord came upon him and he outran chariots. This is in the Bible. Can you picture that? I mean, dust flying up under his feet. I don't know how it looked, but you'll run and not become weary. You know, it's just wild how, and it happens physically too, just so you know. It's physical and spiritual, but the Bible is real and it's alive. But those who wait upon the Lord, you'll be endowed with strength and power and clarity and fly high again. It says he outran chariots. And that's a perfect picture of what happens, you know, in life. And we think we've got to be more busy, strategize more. And I love all this stuff, but waiting upon the Lord is the most potent way. It's the biblical way.
