John Bevere (1959–present). Born on June 2, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, John Bevere is an American evangelist, author, and speaker known for his bold approach to biblical teaching. Raised in a Christian family, he converted at 19, experiencing a profound encounter with God that shaped his calling. He attended Bible school in Texas and worked as a youth pastor and personal assistant to Benny Hinn in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1990, he co-founded Messenger International with his wife, Lisa, a ministry focused on global discipleship, distributing over 60 million translated resources in 128 languages. Bevere’s preaching, delivered at churches and conferences worldwide, emphasizes intimacy with God, spiritual authority, and overcoming deception, often critiquing modern church trends. He has authored over 20 books, including bestsellers The Bait of Satan (1994), Under Cover (2001), and The Awe of God (2023), selling millions in over 130 languages. His Conversations with John & Lisa podcast and MessengerX app reach millions. Married to Lisa since 1982, they have four sons—Addison, Austin, Alec, and Arden—and live in Franklin, Tennessee. Bevere said, “The fear of the Lord is the key to intimacy with God.”
