Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the importance of living a life that is aligned with the love of the Lord and His commandments. He explains that practicing sins such as unforgiveness, envy, worry, and greed goes against God's law and opens the door for the powers of darkness to have influence. The preacher highlights that the law brings condemnation and death, but through the gospel, believers can possess the land and overcome these sins. He warns that failing to possess the land and falling into sin will result in negative consequences. The preacher encourages the audience to use their weapons, which are mighty in God, to tear down strongholds and cast down thoughts that go against the Word of God.
Sermon Transcription
Devils are all over the place. There's more devils now than anything else. The Lord said there's just going to be a few. He talked about holiness. He said, I'm not one because you're many. You're not going to be many, it's going to be a few. Crowds don't run to God, crowds go to the devil. Are you hearing what I'm saying? I hope it's getting past your head up here. I hope it's getting down in your plex. So here's what he said. We no longer war at the plex, but your weapons that we have on the feet and sticks are mighty in God to turn down strongholds and fortresses, and I'm seeing them right here all over this building right now, people, right now, fortresses and strongholds. Your weapons are mighty in God to turn down strongholds. Casting down imaginations and every thought right here that comes in your mind and exalts itself against the Word of God. Your weapons are mighty in God. You don't have to receive them. When you stomp them up here in your mind, they don't get down in your heart. If you let them get down in your heart, it's going to come out of your mouth, it's going to break God's law, and that's the opposite of purifying your heart. They meant a war going on, the church hadn't showed up for it. But your Bible says there in 1 Corinthians 3, verse 5, to be obedient to the Lord Jesus Christ. Now that's the same thing you get over in Ephesians 3, 4, and then it's talking about you go on in and you better fear. If they had good news, them preachers would go in and possess the land, and you better fear lest you come short of it. Hebrews 3 and 4 is saying you will go possess the land. There's no option. You will go and possess the land, and you're warned unless you fall just like they fell. When you won't go in and possess the land, your bodies will fall in the wilderness. Now let me just show you. Any of those sins of the flesh up there, unforgiveness, envy, worry, grief, revenge, that's the opposite. How many agree that's the opposite of a pure heart? Amen? That's the opposite of a pure heart. And I'm going to show you in the Word of God how you go and you possess that land. I'm going to show you in your New Testament how you go in and possess that land. That's what the gospel is. That's what you need the Spirit of God for. And you go in there and you're going to possess that land. Now the powers of darkness attach themselves to all of those sins right there in the flesh. Are you understanding what I'm saying? Every one of those things I'm going to show you in your Bible breaks God's law. It breaks God's law. I'm telling you about it now. I'm going to show you how it breaks God's law. Well, I've already told you. Anything opposite of loving the Lord with all your heart and the nature of God breaks God's law. All right, now this is where the powers of darkness get their ground when you practice these sins. And when you practice them right there, see, this is where we come to God. The wrath of God, the curse, the wrath, Romans 4, 15, the curse, Galatians 3, 13. The law is a ministry of death, 2 Corinthians 3, 7. The law is a ministry of condemnation, 2 Corinthians 3, 9. And that's what's on the earth right now. Condemnation, death, wrath, and a curse, and the powers of darkness fulfill it. It's a simple thing.
