Salvation Is Due to Jesus Christ - Part 3
Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

Sermon Transcription
People go into school, now when you start learning these truths and everything, your children need to be brought up and they learn how to control. They can learn it a lot easier than you because you and I have to unlearn a lot of things. Are you hearing what I'm saying? But they can be brought up and they can learn discernment knee-high to a duck. They learn it a lot quicker than we can and they can pick up what people are saying. As a matter of fact, the pastor was telling me about his son and so forth today. But see, they are taught the ways of the world that get you destroyed. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Now your Bible says you bring them up in discipline. Is that what your Bible says? If you're without discipline, can I tell you something? In Hebrews 12, verse 8, if you're without discipline, you're illegitimate children. If you won't receive the discipline of the Lord, if you won't walk in discipline, you're illegitimate children. I'm going to get over there soon, probably tomorrow night. You're illegitimate children, you're false sons. But see, still and all, we have part of what's called church. You don't have to receive discipline, you show up. Did you see the commandment over there? Now let's go back where we were. Get around me fast. Okay. Now, did we see in verse 9, it says that the Lord said, I'm a jealous God, I visit the iniquity of the fathers on the third and fourth generation of those who will not obey the commandments. That's what it amounts to, isn't that right? So the sins that came on your father and mother are on you. This is one of the things that we, you know, when we take authority and we're going to pray, we're going to ask the Lord to break the curses. We're going to renounce all the sins of our ancestors. You know the sins of a mother come on a child before he's even born? Do you know the sins of a father come on a child before he's even born? They're on him while he's still in the womb. Do you know that the words spoken by your mother before you're even born, words that she said, curses come on you while she's carrying you? Curses come on you while she's carrying you? The mouth. See, when you walk in the world, you put judgments on each other. See, God's the only one that judges. But see, we don't want to be judging when you speak it. The powers of darkness carry it out. But your standard of measure, it comes right back on you. Come right on your children. Are you hearing what I'm saying? So we're breaking this to get this stuff off of us. Amen? Now see, if y'all already hadn't been being taught some along these lines and so forth like this, see, this would be off the wall if I'd go someplace and just start out like this right here, that dear Lord, where did he come from? Huh? Because see, they're blinded. And I mean, at the threat of being thrown out if they deal with Scripture, the powers of darkness come to kill, steal, and destroy. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Isn't it pitiful? But I mean, all is up to God who's going to come and who's not. I'm a planter and a waterer. Jesus told Peter, he said, you go feed the sheep and I'll build the church. I'm just willing to let him do it. Amen? Okay, now. All right, now we're in verse 16. Honor your father and your mother as the Lord commanded you that your days may be what? Belonged. In other words, you don't get destroyed. Verse 17, you shall not murder. Verse 18, you shall not commit adultery. Did we see over there that those who commit those things are not going to have any part in the kingdom of Christ? Was that in your Bible now? There wasn't nothing tricky. Now let me ask you something. How do you, how do you explain away these traditions? People are, you know, the first thing he said, he believes in sinless perfection. Let's kill him. Are you seeing how we have these controversial questions? He believes that Christians, he was trying to teach something about the powers of darkness. He believes that Christians can have demons. Let's kill him. Are you hearing all, are you seeing all the controversy? And these controversial questions, we get programmed and we get kicked. We get cursed when we become part of that. And then when he didn't part of the Bible, he's mentioning like that. Immediately, we're to get angry and run to find four other people who, who believe that you can walk in the nature and character of Satan. In other words, it's like going to get four devils to vote on the word of God. And they say, well, that's just the way I bleed. I'm just going to stay at ease in Zion. Are you hearing what I'm saying? So he said, you don't have any part of the kingdom of Christ. See, Jesus came to fulfill the law, but they say Jesus did it and you don't have to do it. I'm telling you, you better do it. That's the reason that the powers of darkness are all over everybody, because we've been led by their traditions. We're coming out of it. Amen. Glory be to God. We coming out by the grace of God. Praise the Lord. Verse 19, you shall not steal. Verse 20, you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. Verse 21, you shall not covet. Now, let me ask you something, folks. First, now look at me right here. We're seeing you have to love the Lord with all your heart. When you don't have an idol, when you don't have other God, you prove you love the Lord with all your heart, right? These other things, you know, covet, murder, steal. See, if you love your neighbor as yourself, you're not going to do any of those, right? So that's what the law is really saying. And we know it in Matthew 22, 36 through 40, that the law is saying these two things, and you can write it right out from there. On these two commandments depend the whole law. You shall love the Lord with all your heart, and number two, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. And when you do that, the commandment's no problem to you. If you love the Lord with all your heart, that's exactly what you're going to do. You don't go to read the commandments and everything. You do instinctively what the Lord leads you to do, and you don't have to go around checking in and saying, you know, well, I'll go and break a commandment today or anything like that. Honey, when you've got walking peace, you go with your mind on Jesus. You don't go with your mind on the devil. Your mind's on the Word and on Jesus and on things like that, and he's teaching you and so forth, and you walk in peace. Your heart's not condemning you. I'm going to tell you, when you break a commandment, your heart will condemn you. You don't have peace. Then you go and say, Lord, what do I do? Then you seek the Lord. You get before the Lord. You get put out of the blood. And then when you get put out of the blood, the Lord no longer sees you breaking the law, and when you're no longer breaking God's law, the powers of darkness have no ground. They have to butt out, and the hedge returns, and you're back in peace again. This is why 2 Peter 3 says when he comes, you better be found in peace. See, folks, what makes this so hard for some folks to receive is that we're waking up from a nightmare. But now we've got the answer. We don't have to pick and choose and skip. We can take the whole thing there now. Amen? Amen. And you know something? I don't care where you come from or what your background or anything else is. You can understand the Bible when the Spirit of God, when you're walking in it, he'll just get all over you. It's the most exciting thing you ever did. And then you don't have to go to folks. You don't have to put your trust in folks. Put your trust in Jesus, and he shows it. See, we're all a part of the body of Christ. Then we can go lay down and take a nap. You have to tell him you love him about three or four times. Amen? That's all. It's just, holy boy, damn. It's wonderful. Now, we're still back there in chapter 5. So now, this is what the Lord said. Now, verse 22. These words the Lord spoke to all the assembly at the mountain from the midst of the fire of cloud and thick gloom. Now, the reason I want you to listen to this Scripture is because it's the same Scripture in the New Testament. Amen? And there's a purpose for him being there. Now, when he spoke, brother, I want to tell you what this is about the strongest thing God ever said on his earth. Do you understand what I mean? He said, I'm going to destroy all the earth that's not in covenant with me. See, the only way you can get in the presence of God is to be holy. Isn't that right? Clean hands and a pure heart. The only way you can be holy is through Jesus. That's what covenant is, to get back in the presence of God. We fell from the mercy of Adam away from God, right? Now we're getting back. Say, well, I just don't much like it like that. Well, you love the nature and character of Satan. Did you ever hear anybody jumping in front of a train going about 90 miles an hour and telling it to stop? You better adjust to something, folks. Satan didn't create this world. God did. God's got the power. He's one to fear. We've been lied to. Now, these words the Lord spoke, verse 22, to all the assembly at the mountain from the midst of the fire of the cloud in a thick gloom with a great voice. And he added no more. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to them. You know what Romans 8, Hebrews 8, 6, if you want to write it there, we start right there and we get a new covenant with better promises. And then he writes it on a heart. We get over in about verse 10. Here it's written on stone for them, but now in our covenant today it's written on our hearts. And immediately we know because we have the Spirit of God. Now, this reading, the Spirit of God comes into you to show you when you break God's commandment. He didn't come into you just to give you experience and then go and say, I've got it. Amen? The Spirit of God comes to lead you in a way just like the cloud and the fire led them through the wilderness. Amen? Now, that's the purpose of the Spirit of God. But see, if you go through a form of guidance, you don't have to obey God. See, that's deception. You don't have to. You make somebody Lord and then you don't have to obey Him. And then somebody becomes your Lord, see now, see, look at me. Before Jesus becomes your Lord, who's your master? Satan. All of these demons of worry and envy and jealousy and pride and unforgiveness, retaliation, they're filling your mind full of stuff and you're being led by it. Right? But then when you repent, you have a change of heart. Your heart will have a nature and character of Satan, now you'll have a nature and character of God and you'll have a new master and Lord. His name is the Lord Jesus Christ and His... And then you obey a different spirit. You don't obey these spirits. You resist these thoughts from them. And you take every thought and catch it through the immediacy of who? Jesus, unless you find somebody that's got another tower built into heaven called a form of godliness. How many of you in this hold up your hands? See, folks got different towers. They're all kind of towers. You can find any flavor you want today. Just whatever you like. You can go get your ears tickled. Amen? Verse 23, And it came about when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness while the mountain was burning with fire that you came near to me all the heads of your tribe. And let's look in verse 29. Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would what? That they would what? Look at me, folks. We're taught a reverential law. Your Bible says fear Him. When you teach the Bible like it is, it becomes a fear of God when you know God's got wrath and He's going to destroy you if you don't want to honor Him and obey Him, right? Then you're going to fear Him. But if you're walking in spiritual darkness and ignorance, you change the word of God and you call fearing God reverential law. So everybody can be at ease in Zion and men can be lord over God's heritage. By the powers of darkness control the whole place. Is that the way it is? Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear me and they would keep some of my commandments. Back then, they were required to keep all the commandments. Today, since we got Jesus, we don't have to do nothing except ignore the devil and ignore the commandments and ignore God. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Are you all seeing this? Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep my commandments always that it might be what? It would be well with them if they keep the commandments and their sons forever. In other words, the curses that come on the parents wouldn't go on their children if they go ahead and keep the commandments. Same thing today. Verse 33. Here's what the Lord said. You shall walk in all the way which the Lord his God has commanded you that Will you tell me what those three words say? That you may what? And then what's the opposite of living? Being destroyed and getting killed. That you may live. You're going to be destroyed on the curse because the powers of darkness move in when people break the commandments of God's law. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Now, let's say it again now. So you walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you that you may live and that it may be what? That it may be well with you if you obey the commandments of God and that you may what? Prolong your days and not be destroyed in the land which you shall possess. They had a land to possess and now we got a land possessed. Is that correct?
