(Happenings Ahead) Dangers of the Last Days
Willie Mullan

William “Willie” Mullan (1911 - 1980). Northern Irish Baptist evangelist and pastor born in Newtownards, County Down, the youngest of 17 children. Orphaned after his father’s death in the Battle of the Somme, he faced poverty, leaving home at 16 to live as a tramp, struggling with alcoholism and crime. Converted in 1937 after hearing Revelation 6:17 in a field, he transformed his life, sharing the gospel with fellow tramps. By 1940, he began preaching, becoming the Baptist Union’s evangelist and pastoring Great Victoria Street and Bloomfield Baptist churches in Belfast. In 1953, he joined Lurgan Baptist Church, leading a Tuesday Bible class averaging 750 attendees for 27 years, the largest in the UK. Mullan authored Tramp After God (1978), detailing his redemption, and preached globally in Canada, Syria, Greece, and the Faeroe Islands, with thousands converted. Married with no children mentioned, he recorded 1,500 sermons, preserved for posterity. His fiery, compassionate preaching influenced evangelicalism, though later controversies arose.

We're going to have a look tonight at the dangers of the last days for unbelievers. And when we get through this study this evening, next week we'll lift off properly in the subject and we're going to look at the moment of Christ's return to the earth. Just looking at the moment. And I want to try in the next few weeks to show you what that moment will mean for believers on this planet. What that actual literal moment will mean for believers. Then I want to talk for the moment or two somewhere in the study of what that moment will mean for believers in heaven. Because there are quite a lot of believers in heaven. Sometimes they talk to me about the church going through the tribulation. That's impossible. Because there are three quarters of the church home. The church won't go through. That's one thing sure. And the three quarters are already in heaven. I would like to know why the lord would put the last battalion through the tribulation. Like the lord you'd come and tell me. Well we're going to look at what that moment will mean for believers on earth and what that moment will mean for believers in heaven. And then we're going to have a good look at what that moment will mean for unbelievers on earth. Yes you know the lord is coming back and he's going to take his people home. There's going to be quite a multitude left behind. We'll go into the detail. There's going to be a time of great tribulation on the face of this earth. A time of tribulation such as was not since the beginning of time. So that moment never shall be again. We're going into all the details of it. Yes there are great happenings ahead and next week we get lifted off the runway. And i said that we had to look up the details of the last days and the denials and the demands. And i thought that i should point out the dangers of the last days for for unbelievers. I just want you to notice this on the notes this evening. That i have a heading there. The dangers of days gone by for sinners. You see from the very first moment of time when adam fell and sin entered. You know sinners were in danger of death. You see by one man adam sin entered into the world not into the garden. Sin entered into the world. And death came because of sin. And when a baby takes its first breath it's in danger of death before it takes the second one. Sometimes babies die before they get the second one. Babies die because death has a twin upon them because sin is inside every baby. It's an old nature. And by nature we are children of that. And every child and every boy and every girl and every youth and every man and every woman. We all stand in danger of death. All the time. You can die tonight or tomorrow. In fact we've always been in danger of not only death but sudden death. You know you don't need a pain to die. Or you don't need to have something vitally wrong with you to die. You remember the story of the rich farmer. You remember him leaning over the barnyard gates and looking around the fields and talking to himself. Lying in that tent little cot. He said I have no room where to dispose my fruits. I will pull down my barns. I will build greater. And I will say to my soul, soul thou hast much goods laid up for many years. And then God stepped into the barnyard and said thou fool this much. This much. I don't think there was anything really vitally wrong. They could have found him dead in bed in the morning. And I don't think that they had anything to sign in those days for the cause of death. Now they have the paper you must sign and the doctor must sign the cause of death. I don't know what they would have put on it but I can tell you it was an act of God. And the pain is there. Probably put heart failure on it now. That is not always so friend. God can just check in to man's arrangements and engagements and say come on. And sinners have always been danger of death and danger of sudden death. Every sinner in this world tonight stands in danger of dying in the sin. You know that was a dreadful phrase that the Lord Jesus toted when he said if ye believe not that I am he that I am the Messiah the Savior. Ye shall die in your sins and where I am ye cannot come. Remember friend if you die in your sins you will be in your sins for all eternity. And as a defiled sinner you can never enter into God's home. Because when the gate is shut and sinners are without in utter darkness the word of the Lord declares him that is filthy. Let him be filthy still. God can walk off and leave you in your sins for all eternity. You see the dangers they've been always there. Danger of death and the danger of sudden death and the danger of dying in your sins. And there's always been the danger of apostasy. I think that we're not quite conversant with this doctrine. In fact you know I hear people taking this word apostasy on their lips and I don't think that they have the faintest foggiest idea what it's all about. I'm sure of that. But I'm going to take a moment or two to just show you plainly what apostasy is. You know I had a fellow came in to see me not so very long ago. Sat down in the chair and he said what are we going to do with these apostate Baptist churches? I had a good look at him. Knew I could manage him quite easily. I said what apostate Baptist churches are you talking about? I said there's a whole lot of them about. I said come over to your corner a wee bit now. He's got the names of them. He's not prepared to walk on us you know and make an accusation. He stands to talk. I said tell me this before we go any further. Do you know what apostasy means? You know what it means. But you rattle this round your tongue too. Are you sure you know what it means? Let me say this to everybody here with all the feeling I can muster. There is not one apostate Baptist church in Ireland. Not one. Let me tell you that now. Of course you didn't know that. Not one. I know that all of them. I'm just one included. Could do with power and blessing. Every one of them. Now you would be very foolish not to confess that. But apostasy is another thing altogether then when I tell you what it is you will know not to say it again. Now let me teach you what apostasy is. If you go to the letter to the Hebrews I believe this great letter to the Hebrews was written by Paul. I think that I could take time this evening and prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that this letter was written by the great apostle Paul. And of course as you can see quite clearly that it was written to Hebrews. That is believers from among the Jews. Jewish believers. And of course Paul himself was a Hebrew of the Hebrews. He was a Hebrew scholar. Now this letter wants watching as I said last week. Because sometimes he puts himself in among all saved Hebrews of an Hebrew. Because this is how he acted in life. For the Jews he became of the Jews. And sometimes when he puts himself into that crowd he makes statements like this. How shall we Hebrews escape if we Hebrews neglect the so great salvation that was first proclaimed by the Lord. And you have to watch Paul when he does that because you might think that he was talking of the Christians. And he is actually putting himself among the Hebrews of the Hebrews. Then you will find many passages where he puts himself among the Hebrew Christians. And he talks as a believer. Have a look at Hebrews chapter 6 now. And you will get this quite clearly. Writing to them he said in verse 1. Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ. Let us go on unto perfection. Of course he couldn't say let us Hebrew sinners go on unto perfection. He puts himself among the Hebrew believers now. And he is saying let us Hebrew believers go on unto perfection. Of course it is applicable to us when you say let us believers go on unto perfection. We don't claim to be perfect. But we are going on. There is another word in Hebrew that he says following after holiness. Well we are following after. Haven't caught up on holy perfection yet. Now we are going on to perfection. We are following on after holiness. We haven't caught up on holy perfection. Not yet. And he says here let us go on unto perfection. And then following this up in verse 3 he says and this will we do. If God permits. This will we do. Now I want you to notice how he is beginning this chapter. Let us, it is us now, let us go on unto perfection. And this will we do. And then in verse 4 he says for it is impossible for us. Ah not on your life he didn't say. He says it is impossible for those. Now why did he come so quickly from the us to the those. Because this is a different crowd he is talking to now. You can see the believers in let us go on to perfection. You can see the believers this will we do. Ah but this is quite a different thing now. He says for it is impossible for those. Ah this is a different crowd. I want you to watch this crowd because he gets off a good picture often. He says for it is impossible for those who were once enlightened. You know standing around among these Hebrew Christians were other Hebrews who had been enlightened as to Christ. You know the old gospel had been preached to them. And they could see that Christ was the antitype of all the types. Yes they had been enlightened as to Christ. They somehow knew now that he was the end of the law for righteousness. But this crowd that he is talking about were once enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift. You almost think looking at it that they had been saved. But remember you can taste the thing and not take it in at all. You know when the Lord was on the cross they handed down the upper cup of vinegar and he tasted it itself but would not drink thereof. Didn't make it good at all. Just the moment that his lips touched it he refused it. He never made it his. And these Hebrews who had been enlightened had tasted. Ah but they had never made the heavenly gift theirs. They had tasted. I want you to get this bit. And were made partakers of the Holy Ghost. When you come to the subject of the Holy Ghost in this book there are so many things that apply to the believer. You know we are endorsed by the Spirit of God. Yes we are filled by the Spirit of God. We are anointed by the Spirit of God. We are filled by the Spirit of God. There are so many things that apply to believers. But you know a man can be a partaker of the Holy Spirit without accepting the heavenly gift and being born again of the Spirit. You remember when Lot was being brought out of Sodom. We'll be looking at that tonight. You know the angel took Lot by the hand and the other angel took Lot's wife by the hand. I've often wondered what it would be like to have your hand in the hand of an angel. Come and see. I've seen them coming up the aisle here you know and he holds her hand. And he thinks she's an angel. Well he woke up long ago. Nevertheless you know the angel took her hand and she was moved by the power from another hand. She was moved. The angel was gripping her just like the Holy Ghost grips man and woman. The Holy Ghost can grip you you know and move you. Bring you to tears and then you can die in your sins after that. And you were a partaker of the Holy Ghost in that sense. Yes this child that he's talking about had been enlightened and had actually tasted and had been made partakers and had tasted the good word of God. Of course the Spirit works through the words and if the Spirit laid hold upon them at all it was through the words. Young fellows you learn this that the Spirit will always use his own words and you keep as close to the book as you can. James McKendrick who helped me tremendously when I was a young fellow he said to me one day look when you're preaching let your preaching be like a picture. You see the inside of the picture? Well that should be the word of God. See the frame around it? That should be your remarks. And he said Willie the thinner you can put on the frame the better. I hear them preaching sometimes and it's all framed and no picture. You keep to the book and the Holy Ghost will take it up and apply it a thousand ways you never dreamed of. And this child that Paul's painting the picture of now neither had been enlightened. They had tasted. The Holy Ghost had gripped them. They'd even tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come. You know these were Hebrews and God had really dealt with them. I want you to get this phrase. It says if they shall fall away. You know some people try to read that this is being lost again into this. When you're the biggest fool I ever listened to. Some of the old Methodists you know this is a pet phrase of theirs. You know you can fall away. Well I'll read it over to you. Are you listening for two years? It says it is impossible if they shall fall away to renew them. That's what it says. So that if you say they can be lost again they can never come back again. It is impossible. Would you stop reading sites like that into it? You have given them a free ticket for hell with no restoration. That's what you're doing. You're mighty clever aren't you? I'm telling you the word is impossible Matthew. It is impossible to renew them again. That's what it says. But it's not talking about believers at all in the beginning. Because you saw that he departed from that crowd and it's talking about another crowd. It's not talking about believers. He was talking about believers when he said let us go on. He was talking about believers when he said this is what we do. But he's talking about another crowd when he says it is impossible for those. You see when these Hebrews had had this enlightenment. When the Holy Ghost had come upon them. You know they could see clearly that Christ was all they needed. But they were deliberately turning their backs from Christ. If they shall turn their backs, you can read it. They're falling away from all the revelation they've got. If they shall turn their backs from Christ. And they're making a definite decision now. They're making Judaism. And the offering. And the sacrifice of the old economy. The basis of the salvation. If you get a revelation of Christ. And turn away. And say no I'll stick to this. You become an apostate. If only any Baptist church in the country has turned away from Christ. Could you? Unless it's only one. Because I would tell you. Don't you put that word on your lips unless you know what you're talking about. I've even talking about apostate denominations. I even hear them talking about apostate men. You'll need to be pretty careful. You'll need to know that they have turned their backs on Christ. And taken something else. You'll need to be able to prove it. Yeah I'm sure there are apostates in the lab mind you. I would say that Weatherhead. Who was once the president of the Methodist church in England. I would say that when he came to the place in life. And I read this. It's all in my things. You can find it any day. He said that Zacharias. Zacharias was the father of John the Baptist. He was one of the Levitical priests in the temple before Christ was born. And this book says of Zacharias. That he kept the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. That's what the book says. He kept them blameless. That's a tremendous testimony. But Weatherhead doesn't pay any attention to that. He said that Zacharias took the Virgin Mary. And he shut her up in the temple. And he kept her there until he had made her pregnant. He says that's where Christ came from. He says he Zacharias made her pregnant. That makes Zacharias a wicked old man. That makes the Virgin Mary a bad woman. That makes this book that I'm reading out of a liar. Because it tells you a different story about the child altogether. That makes our Lord Jesus the sinful son of a sinful woman by a sinful man. And if he was a sinner's son. Calvary is a farce. You can go home and tear the book up and we'll all go to hell. A man that writes that sort of stuff. He has swung round to something. I don't exactly know what he has swung round to. But he has swung round to something. And if he is not an apostate he is desperately near death. And if he is an apostate he will go to hell. And every man, sinner on the face of God's earth is in danger of becoming an apostate. But these are dangers of days gone by. You know the dangers of the last days are quite different. And I want to make a distinction between the dangers of the last days and the dangers of days gone by. You think there is the danger in the last days of this Noahite nightmare I call it. Let's have a look at Hebrews. Luke's Gospel chapter 17. Luke's Gospel chapter 17. Verse 26. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the preacher. Luke's chapter 17. Verse 26. Jesus speaking said, And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man. And in one of the other Gospels it says, As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the coming of the Son of Man. Now I want to get this a little bit tidied up. Sometimes we talk about the Word coming. Sometimes we talk about the Son of Man coming. Of course you know the Lord and the Son of Man are the same person you know that is all right. But you know when we talk about the Lord we are talking about his heavenly character. And his connections with the heavens. Remember really he is the Lord from heaven. And you know one of these nights or days he is going to rise from yon throne where he sits in the land that is fairer than day. And he is going to step into the heavens. And all the believers on earth will rise to meet him. For a moment that will be and we will look at the moment next week. And he will take his believing people away. And we will look at where they go to. They will go to the judgment seat of Christ. And what an examination will be there. And there will be a crowd left behind on earth. The Lord should come now. I wonder how many will be left in this meeting. You go, feel about it. Belong to the Lord. Baptist tag wouldn't save you you know. You belong to the Lord. But then we talk about the coming of the Son of Man. You see this is the title that connects him with earth. He is the Son of Man. When he was here in the days of his flesh he was called the Son of Man. The Son of Man has come to teach him to save that which was lost. You know after he takes his people to the judgment seat. You know he will come again to the earth. And his feet will stand in that day on the Mount of Olives. And he will come as the Son of Man to take the throne of his father David. Because as the Son of Man he is of the house and lineage of David. Now when he is going to come to the earth. Which I believe and I hope I should be able to prove. Will be seven years after he comes to the earth. You know there is going to be things on the earth in those days among sinners. Thankfully like things that were in the days of Noah. As it was in the days of Noah. Now let's try to get a few things out of the days of Noah just to see. Let's go back to Genesis. And we are at Genesis chapter 6. Genesis 6. I can see that we are going to have quite a session tonight. We are only started and mind you I have no notion of talking for a minute. And I see one gentleman has his coat off. And if there is any more of you who would like to take the coat off that's all right. I always think the ladies are far wiser in their dress than men. They are sitting so comfortably the most of them. And some of you fellows are those big sweaters on and coats. You are going to be here for a minute or two I assure you. Now we are at Genesis chapter 6. Verse 1. It came to pass when men began to multiply on the face of the earth. And daughters were born unto them. That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they would fear. And they took them wives of all which they choose. Now there have been great arguments down through the years about this phrase. The sons of God. And this phrase the daughters of men. And I will tell you the schools of thought that are abroad just now. You see if you go back to Eden's garden and come into chapter 4 of Genesis. You remember Cain and Abel begin there. And you remember how Cain flew Abel. And then Cain had to run out from the presence of the Lord. And you know you can find all his descendants in the next chapters. The Cainites. And if you look at what they are doing you will find that they are carnal Cainites. And in fact I have reached the message here on the carnality of the Cainites. Now I do not know another son called Seth. Cain, Abel, Seth. And Seth was a godly character, a saintly character. And you can see his descendants. You can see that they are saintly people. Now what some of the scholars say that these sons of God are the sons of Seth. They are the saintly people on the earth. And that these daughters of men are the daughters of Cain. And this is what is called unequal youth. That the saintly crowd are mingling now with the carnal crowd and they are marrying. I may as well tell you I don't accept this. Quite bluntly. I'll tell you for why I do. An idea like that is so harsh to me because I'll tell you what. It makes it that all the males in the saintly line went wrong. And all the females in the Cainite crowd went wrong. I can't accept that all the males in one camp and all the females in another camp had only said that. That was announced to the fox. And they say that the sons of God, this term could be the angels of God. And I know from the Hebrews that that can be so. I know that when the story of Job begins, it begins by the angels standing before God and sitting among them. But it doesn't say that they are the angels of God. It says they came a day when the sons of God presented themselves before God. And it's actually talking about the angels of God. And I know that this phrase can be termed the angels of God. And of course you know that when Satan fell, well some of the angels fell with him. We do talk about the angels that fell, the fallen angels. Some of them, of course, on our chapters tonight, deserve unto judgment. But there are some at large who are standing in with Satan at this moment. They're actually demons now. And what some of the scholars say, that these demons came down and that they married women. I can't accept that. I don't think that is possible at all. This book that I read either says that the angels neither married nor have ever been married, and I accept that. That's a large one. But I think that the folks who talk about these being demons are on the right track. I think in those days, you see, as men and women got married, demons took a lot to do with the sex life. I want you to watch it full very carefully. Watch what it says. It says, the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and they took them wives of all which they choose. Leave out verse 3 for the moment. There were giants in the earth in those days. I don't think for a moment it means that they were physical giants. I think that the children born because of this demon activity were giants in thing. I shall prove that. Watch. There were giants in the earth in those days, and also after that when the sons of God came in onto the daughters of men, they bared children to them, the same became mighty, men which were of old, men of renown. Ah, but wait a minute. Renown for what? Renown for sin. Watch it. And God saw, God saw, that the wickedness of man was great in the earth. I want you to watch every word. And every, hit the word every, imagination of the thoughts of his heart, was only, only, every thought, only evil continued. You can't imagine. You can't imagine a world like that. You know all of us have had evil thoughts. Let's be honest now with one another. The person in this crowd tonight, pictured included, who hasn't had evil thoughts. Yes, I've had evil thoughts. But I'll tell you this, if I've had evil thoughts, I've had good ones. My thoughts are not only evil continually. No. Ah, but this was this world. They're thoughts. Only, only, did you get the word only? Only evil, did you get it? Only evil continually, did you get it? No wonder God destroyed it. In fact, our holy God could do nothing else. He couldn't tell me God would be holy and let that go on. There was some sort of demoniac interference here, in the sexual. You know, we're coming to a tremendous spot in scientific activity in the world just now. There's a thing going on among scientists which is called genetic surgery. Ah yes, they're beginning to even work upon the seed for man and the seed of woman. And they can so magnify this, that they can bring surgery to work upon it now. And they openly say, in some of the medical magazines, that they could produce whatever kind of man they like. They openly say that. If they wanted to put a multitude of warriors on a battlefield, they can rear them, they say they can rear them. If they want to make a man with only brains and very little body, they can give them all brains. In fact, they say this and they have done this. They can take the seeds and they can still work upon it. They can put it into a packet like a packet of seeds. And they can put the colour of the hair, the colour of the eyes, the size the man will be when he's fully grown. And they can tell the mother beforehand all about it. And she can go and buy it and get it inserted by a doctor and have that kind of child. Now they've gone a step further. Our great Labour government has gone in for abortion. Who said? Oh yes, we're standing up now, wanting votes of course. To get all the harlot's votes. There, they're going to have abortion. They're going to put it on the house now. You're going to pay for it. God said to Jeremiah, before I form thee in the womb. And God pity the man or woman that touches the thing that God formed. Yes, I want you to get the hell out of there. They're now doing abortions wholesale, back street ones and front street ones now. And they're taking the fetus, which is the little embryonic thing, not even yet formed, the child. In the embryonic stage, and they're following them. And those boys, clever fellows they are. They can put them in a glass womb. And they can bring them into childhood. They can make a child. They'll be making some children before long. We're only at the beginning of this. But by the time the Lord comes and takes the things home, and by the time he comes back. When the gospel has left this world and there's no thought on the earth. I would, wouldn't like to be here. They'll be making the kind of children they want to make. And there'll be mothers buying them. And inserting them into their womb. There are great faiths, for a minute or two. We're living in that kind of world. The sort of world we're living in. I tell you this. Arms involved in the days of love. And every unsaved person in this world tonight. You're in danger of that nightmare. Of a horrible, shameful, some unsaved young woman that grew up anxious. Why, it's a danger. It's the danger of the nightmare. Where we were reading in Luke's gospel, have another look at it. That old clock's annoying me tonight. It's a horrible thing. Someday I'll shift that clock as sure as your bed. We're at Luke's gospel 17. And here's verse 28. And likewise the Lord Jesus is talking, likewise also as it was in the days of lots. They did each. They'd rant. They bought. They sold. They planted. They built it. But the same day that lots went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. You can see them eating and drinking, can't you? You could call it the club if you like. Wining and dining. You see, they bought. They sold. It's the market, isn't it? They planted. They built it. Planted and plumbed. It may well be the home. But there was something that entered into the club and something that entered into the market and something that entered into the home. That you'll only find over in Genesis. It was thots. And have a look at it. Let's go back to Genesis 19. Genesis 19 is the story of lots. And lots certainly. Verse 1. And they came through angels to Sodom at evening. That is, they were so ashamed of this horrible place that they couldn't come in daylight. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot seeing them rose up to meet them and he bowed himself at his face toward the ground. And he said, Behold, my lords, turn thee, I pray thee, into your servant's house and tarry all night and wash your feet. And ye shall rise up early and go on your way. And they said, Nay. We will abide in the street all night. Somehow they didn't want to enter into this house. But he pressed upon them gratefully. And I think you'll see in a moment why he did so. And they turned in unto him and entered into his house and he made them a feast of bacon, lamb and bread and made to eat. Verse 4. But before they lay down, the men of the city. One is to get the phrase, the men of the city. The Holy Ghost is very particular here. Even the men of Sodom. And it is not women that's named at all. It is men. Compass the house round. And watch how careful the Spirit of God is. Both old and young. All the people, all the men. From every quarter. From the clubs, from the markets, from the homes. All the men. Are all there. Old and young. All the old fellows. All the young fellows. All there. And they called unto Lot and said unto him. Where are the men which she meant to leave this night? They thought these two angels were men. They were probably in this militude of men. Bring them out unto us that we may know them. And the word knows in a very special sense. They didn't want to know their names or anything. They wanted to know them sexually. He said you're sure of that? I would need to be sure before I talk to a friend like this. I'll prove I'm sure. You know these were two fresh men. I almost hate to say it. They were two fresh men into the city. And the whole city. All the men. Old and young. Bring them out so that we may know them. Now Lot, very thick. Lot went out at the door unto them and shut the door up to him. And said I pray thee brethren. Do not go wickedly. Is that opening your eyes now? Oh I think you can see it all right. Yes he knew what they were going to do. He was begging them. I'll tell you what he did. He said behold now I have two daughters which have not known man. Let me I pray thee bring them out unto you and do ye to them as is good in your eyes. Only unto these men do nothing. You know these girls had never known man in a place like Sodom. And they never went after a woman in Sodom. They went after men. That's what Sodomy is. Do you know what Sodomy is? A woman with a rare wife. Two big girls had grown up. They never knew men. Ah but the men were after men. So I need to do one. That's it. And he said this slowly. As it was in the days of Lot. So shall it be. See our great wonderful British Parliament. Man we should nearly hunt a clergyman. That goes for liberal and conservative elections. They shot up there. Yes. And some of the so called ladies. Lady so and so they called them. In the house of Lord she stuck. And she gives up. I read Hansard you know. I've got to get news from everywhere. She gets up and says. That she wanted men to have a license. That they could send factory with men. She's an old lady. I gave you wood for her. That would be. You shouldn't have asked. Oh I should say it you know. I should really say it. Yes this is the land we live in. This is our wonderful land. This is our famous British Parliament. They're looking for votes. They should be hoping for them. Friends. Every man on set. Is in danger. Of this sort of attack. Which is a wonderful story. Young man you'll be cackled in the streets before you're much older. Ah yes I could tell you stories you know. I wasn't brought up old up in Cochrane you know. I happen to live in this horrible world. Yes. I tell you this is one of the dangers. It's going to multiply. Old men and women. Pay for your sons. We used to pay for our daughters. Now pay for your sons. Why I tell you. It's time the church had a vision of this. Church should see. This. Murex. Nightmare. Church should see. This father night cycle. I tell you look at this. This is Martin's gospel. And it's chapter 25. This is the one we were up on Sunday evening. But I was just preaching the gospel from then. It's the story of the five wise and the five foolish virgins. And do you mind remember the foolish and the oil and the lust. And they had to go to buy oil. And it says in verse 10. Matthew 25 verse 10. And while they went to buy. The bridegroom came. Here's a great little phrase. They that were ready. They that were ready. Went in with him. Oh that's a lovely phrase. They that were ready went in with him. To the marriage. And the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgin saying. Lord. Lord. Open to us. The answer said verily I say unto you. I know you not. They were shut out you know. Have a look at Luke's gospel. Chapter 13. Luke's gospel chapter 13. The Lord Jesus is preaching. Verse 24. Saying to every unsaved one. Strive to enter in at the street gate. For many I say unto you will seek to enter in and shall not be able. When once the master of the house has risen up. And hath shut through the door. And ye begin to stand without him to knock at the door saying. Lord. Lord open unto us. He shall answer and say unto you. I know you not whence ye are. Then ye shall begin to say we have eaten and drunk in my name. You know I want you to get the hold of this. In one place he's called the bridegroom. In the other place he's called the master of the house. But you know it's not so much the master of the house. Or even the marriage of the lamb. That's brought into the forefront in these wonderful portions. It's the manifesto of the marriage of the master. He's just telling the people on the other side of the door. I never knew you. Actually in one place it says. Be persecuted. Say what a change that will be. You know dear you could be sitting in this meeting tonight. And tonight the Lord Jesus is holding out his hands to you. And he's looking into your eyes because he loves you. And he's tenderly pleading with you. And he's saying. Come. Come unto me. And I will give you rest. Learning to say Jesus. You know in the next second. The distant session of grace can end. And the master of the house. The bridegroom can come and shut the door. And if you refuse those tender pleadings you'll be outside. And I tell you the tone is going to change. You know we used to sing a hymn in the old days in the pub where I used to drink. The tables are turning on you. And the tables are turning. Because tomorrow. The one who is paying today. Come unto me. Make his paying tomorrow. Be persecuted. You're in danger of that you know. You're in danger of the master's manifesto. Who can tell you to go you know. I'll tell you this and can let you go to hell. Before. Judas went through violence. And Judas rose from the table. Passed over table. Took a look at the master. Took a deep breath and tossed about thirty pieces of silver. And slowly turned his back on Christ and went through the door. And the Lord Jesus knows now. That he's the son of perdition and that he's going to be lost for all eternity. Because before Judas dropped the toll mind you and finished it. The Lord had said to the disciples. The son of perdition. He's lost. He's lost. But the thing that shakes me is this. You can hear Judas going down the stairway. You can hear the rattle of his sandals on the cobbled street. He's going along the darkened street. He's going quickly. And Christ never moves. He lets him to the hell. If you sit down and let you go to hell. You'll not settle forever with the Savior. It's a very serious. You're in danger dear. You're in danger. There's something else I must do before we stop tonight. Let's have a look at 2 Thessalonians for a moment. Paul's second letter to the Thessalonians. And we're at the first verse. 2 Thessalonians. And we're at the second chapter. And the first verse. Now watch it closely and it will save a lot of preaching. It's far better than the preaching. Now we beseech you brethren. And you can see when he injects that little word brethren in. That he's talking to believers. It just settles the whole question. This is all for believers. He's saying to the believers of Thessalonica. It's when we beseech you brethren. And he's beseeching them. By the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. That's one of the things he meets the Queen upon. I'm beseeching you by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. And by. Because he's two saints on the platform upon which he pleads. I'm beseeching you by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. And by our gathering together unto him. He says you know I want to beseech you boys. I want to beseech you. By his coming and our going. We're going you know. We're going to be gathered unto him what a day it will be. What a moment. Yes. Now he says on these two planks. By his coming and by our gathering together unto him. I beseech you that you be not soon shaken in mind. Or be troubled. Neither by spirit nor by word nor by letter ask from us. You see somebody had written them a letter. And they put Paul's name to it. This young church began to think that Paul was telling them something. Different from what he had told them before. He says now I beseech you on two accounts. I beseech you by Christ's coming and by our gathering together unto him. Now don't you be troubled. Don't let the spirit or the word of the letter that my name's asked trouble you. The people who had written this letter were saying to these young believers. That the day of the Lord it should be. In one of the old translations it's the day of the Lord. Is the time. And this was simply meaning. That all that Paul had said about the rapture. It wasn't taking place anymore. The writer of the letter was trying to rob us of rapture. And go on to the day of the Lord. And it troubled these young saints. Folks going around now saying there's no rapture. I wonder what book they're reading now. Somebody should buy them a new Testament. And then it begins to correct the affair. It says let no man deceive you by any means. For that day, the day of the Lord shall not come. Except there come a falling away first. And that man of sin be revealed. You see we'll have a lot of apostates. Before that day comes. And the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. Who opposes and exalteth himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped. So that he is God-sitted in the temple of God. That's a great rephrase you know. Because I think that the Jews are clearing a site just now in Jerusalem. Where the mosque was burnt to build a temple. In fact the Lord's just told me not so long ago. He says we're nearly all the stones ready. You know they'll come down and they'll put a big temple up in no time at all. I'll tell you who's sitting. The man of sin. Sitting over there. Sitting in the temple of God. Showing himself that he's God. And the whole of them will believe him. Here they'll likely have aeroplanes going from Ireland to Palestine to see him. Watch. He says remember Enoch that when I was yet with you I told you these things. You see sometimes I have to repeat something I said to me a few weeks ago back again. It's good for you because I tell you you soon forget you. One night I stood up here and I swept my lace and my shirt was soaking and I was getting something over. And I was trying my best for the saint and then down comes nine o'clock next morning. A wee fellow who was in the meeting and wanted to know the same thing all over again. I said were you sleeping last night? Soak it in. Soak it in. That's what it's for. The rest of the night son. Put it on the back of it. Whatever you like. It's for your edification. I said do you not remember I told you. Should have told you about this. When I was with you. And then it was on. He says aunt now ye know what withholdeth. That he the man of sin be revealed in his time. There's something keeping it all back. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work. You know what's going on tonight. This mystery of iniquity. What's the mystery of iniquity now? Best way to get hard questions settled is buy on scripture with scripture. The mystery of godliness. What is it? Is god manifest in flesh? That's the mystery of godliness. What's the mystery of iniquity then? It's the devil. When you dwell into the soul of some man. The man of sin of course. It's going to take him over. Now. Pharaoh is saying it's already at work. He says only he who now let us rule it. There's somebody keeping them back. Until he be taken out of the way. And I believe it's the holy ghost. Who should keep the devil back? Only the holy ghost. The church is not keeping the devil back. Holy ghost is here. And the holy ghost is going out of this world. When the last battalion of the believers leave. And when he goes. The devil will get on with the job down here. All the things that lie ahead. He'll get them. Says then shall that wicked be revealed. That wicked one be revealed it should be. Whom the lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth. And shall destroy with the brightness of his coming. Even him. Whose coming is after the working of Satan. With all power and signs and lying wonders. My old Satan will give him a bit of sensation you know. Is given power and signs. Lying wonders will be. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness. In them that perish. All perishing sinners are going to be deceived. And they're going to be deceived first because. They're deceived not the love of the truth. That they might be saved. And for this cause. God shall send them strong delusion. You could certainly believe that couldn't you. The God who sent Christ. The God who so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. The father who sent the son to be the savior. Is he going to send strong delusion upon sinners. He isn't doing it. Now if you think that's a horrible statement. If Jesus Christ came now. And the believers rise out of this meeting. You think you know. That you would turn to God and cry. And just like you would see the whole true strength. I'll tell you what God will do. He'll send strong delusion on you. You'll not pray at all. You'll not even be afraid. You'll be glad there's no church. God will send strong delusion. And he'll send it for this purpose. He says for this cause. God shall send strong delusion. That they should believe. And the word should be the lie. Capital T capital L. It's the man of sin. It's the wicked one. That they should believe the lie. What's it? That they all might be damned. God's determined to damn sinners. Who refuse his son. And say a friend. You're in danger. There are dangers of the last days. That were never before. You're in danger. Of all the demons can do. You're in danger. Young man. Of this sodomite saga. You're in danger of a master. Giving a manifesto to depart. You're in danger of God's delusion. They like preaching at the on stage. What about us believers? Do we believe? Do we accept this? Why if we really accept this. You know. This place shouldn't hold the prayer meeting. We've got the big clubs. If we've got vision at all. Man it's time we were on our toes. Awake. Now let's sleep as they've required. Oh my God awake. Next week we're looking after that moment.
