Bakht Singh Chabra (1903 - 2000). Indian evangelist, church planter, and Bible teacher born in Joiya, Punjab (now Pakistan), to a devout Sikh family. Educated at Punjab University, he studied agricultural engineering in England (1926-1928) and Canada (1929-1932), embracing a Western lifestyle, including smoking and drinking, while rejecting his Sikh roots by shaving his hair. Initially hostile to Christianity—once tearing a Bible apart—he converted in 1929 in Winnipeg after reading the New Testament, influenced by Christian friends John and Edith Hayward. Returning to India in 1933, he began preaching as an Anglican evangelist, later becoming independent, sparking the 1937 Martinpur revival, a pivotal movement in Indian Christianity. In 1941, after a night of prayer in Chennai, he founded Hebron Ministries, establishing over 10,000 indigenous churches modeled on New Testament principles across India and South Asia. Singh authored books like How I Got Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory and held annual “Holy Convocations” in Madras, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Kalimpong, drawing thousands. Married to Rama Bai at age 12 in 1915, little is recorded of their personal life. His contextualized gospel, blending Indian spirituality with biblical truth, earned him the title “Elijah of the 21st Century” in Indian Christendom. Singh’s words, “I have never asked any man for anything, but the Lord is richly supplying all my needs,” reflect his faith-driven ministry. Despite Parkinson’s disease in his final decade, his legacy endures through Hebron’s global network and writings, praised by figures like Ravi Zacharias.

Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the speaker focuses on the last message that Jesus gave to his disciples before his crucifixion. The disciples were feeling sad and struggling to understand why their master would suffer and be killed. Jesus reassures them by speaking of his peace, telling them not to be troubled or afraid. He emphasizes that the peace he gives is not like the peace of the world. The speaker also warns that even though people may think they are saved, they may not have truly experienced the peace of Christ.

We have a living father, seek to ask for this living world. May we remind you about the few announcements for this convocation. Loving Heavenly Father, in the name of Lord Jesus, our saviour, we thank Thee for this evening. Thank Thee for Thy prayers with us. Thank Thee for Thy desire to speak to us. Thank Thee that all of us can receive from Thy loving hands an equal blessing. Thank Thee that Thou art here to bless us. We claim Thy eternal to be with everyone. May Thy word enter every heart. By faith we bind Satan. We humble ourselves. We come under pressure of blood. We claim Thy help and enabling grace. May Thou keep us conscious of the head upon us. To love without hope and peace may find Thy true peace. To love without peace may recover it. To any burden upon their heart may find their burden rolling away. To love in darkness become in Thy light. May every need be fully met. And Thy love be fully tasted. And Thy grace be abundantly experienced. By faith we humble ourselves. And come under pressure of blood. And pray in the name of the Lord, our saviour. In the name of the Lord, our saviour. John 14 John 14 Verse 27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you. Not as a God-giver give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled. Neither let it be afraid. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you. Not as a God-giver give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled. Neither let it be afraid. Peace I give unto you. My peace I give unto you. Not as a God-giver give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled. Neither let it be afraid. These three chapters in John Gospel, from fourteen to sixteen contain the last message the Lord Jesus Christ gave to his disciples before he was betrayed and crucified. And every verse of these three chapters is full of many many deep truths. You can never exhaust the full message of any verse. You may read these words again and again and you may find something fresh coming up to you. It must be for those who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ nor for those who know him by experience. And I have lost track of the time and my disciples are feeling very sad. The Lord told them beforehand how he was going to suffer and be reviled and mocked and suffer and be killed. And they found it hard to understand. Have you seen the power of the Lord Jesus Christ so wonderfully? Now they are being told their master is going to suffer and be mocked and reviled and then killed. And that is why Jesus said, At that time our Lord gave this message. And these three chapters can be summed up just by three very short fragments. In chapter 14, the Lord speaks of my peace. In chapter 15, my joy. In chapter 16, my victory. By these three short fragments, he asks all their questions. Because they were wondering in their hearts. Why should their Lord with so much power and authority suffer like this? Why should their Lord with so much power and authority suffer like this? And the answer was because our Lord wants them to have his peace. He said, peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. Not as a world giver, give I unto you. Not as a world giver, give I unto you. Now that is a very common longing in the heart of every human being. To find true peace. And they struggle for many years and cannot get peace. Here the Lord says, my peace I leave with you, not as a world giver. Here the Lord says, my peace I leave with you, not as a world giver. Similarly, another longing is in a man's heart to find true joy. Similarly, another longing is in a man's heart to find true joy. And as they adopt so many means to find that joy, they cannot get it. And as they adopt so many means to find that joy, they cannot get it. So what is saying in John 15, 11? These words have I spoken unto you, that my joy might fill you, and that your joy might be full. So what is saying in John 15, 11? These words have I spoken unto you, that my joy might fill you, and that your joy might be full. Full joy. And those very means can give any human being such a joy. And those very means can give any human being such a joy. You may acquire anything, or you may possess anything, or do anything. You may acquire anything, or you may possess anything, or do anything. You won't find the real joy. Here the Lord is saying, I am suffering and going to die, that my joy might come to you, and that your joy might be full. Here the Lord is saying, I am suffering and going to die, that my joy might come to you, and that your joy might be full. The same way is men love power in their life. But they are defeated. Yet we have put a new power in our life. And the Lord is saying that in John 16 and 33. In the world you shall have tribulation. We have good cheer. I have overcome the world. Yes, that victory is for you and me. To make our lives fully victorious, triumphant, fruitful, full of power, our Lord had to die. To make our lives fully victorious, triumphant, fruitful, full of power, our Lord had to die. So the real Christian life can be summed up by these three simple words. So the real Christian life can be summed up by these three simple words. Peace. Peace. Joy. Joy. And victory. And victory. See, the whole Christian life is centered around these three words. If you haven't found true peace, then you haven't found Christian life. If you haven't found true peace, then you haven't found Christian life. If you haven't found true joy, then there is something wrong with your salvation. If you haven't found true joy, then there is something wrong with your salvation. In the same way, if your life is defeated, then you don't know the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the same way, if your life is defeated, then you don't know the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. This evening we only want to spend some time on the peace which we have in the Lord Jesus Christ. And that's why we put the same question to you this evening. And that's why we put the same question to you this evening. Have you found true peace? Have you found true peace? And you find by the word of God, in many cases, they haven't got your peace. The enemy can deceive you. I give you one simple illustration. When I came to England for the first time many years ago, one day my friend came to see me. I said to him, My landlady is a very good landlady. He said, what do you say that? Because she gives us plenty of butter for every meal, for breakfast, for lunch, for every meal. Because she gives us plenty of butter for every meal, for breakfast, for lunch, for lunch, for every meal. Because she gives us plenty of butter for my breakfast, lunch, for tea, water, etc. Normally the landlady doesn't give much butter for the meat. In very small quantities. Normally the landlady doesn't give much butter. I happened to see my friend also, and I saw how he was having a very small buttermilk meal. He said to me, today I will come with you for the meal. So I took him with me that day for the food. I showed him the dish of butter on the table. Then he started to laugh. He said, this is not butter. This is just margarine. This is just butter. It looks very nice. Very nice colour, very nice taste also. You would never suspect that this is so many rice table butter called margarine, but not pure butter. And for three months I never knew about it. I made that deception. Why find everywhere so many Marginal Christians? You see, they say they are saved. They say they are born again. But going by the test, going by their life, going by their experience, there is something wrong somewhere. Now see how important it is for us to know what kind of peace we should have in Lord Jesus Christ. The first thing is, Lord Jesus Christ came into the world to give peace. And that is why Isaiah called him as a prophet of peace. Now this prophet has not a side in minute details about the birth and the life and the suffering and second coming to Lord Jesus Christ. This prophet has a lot of details about the birth, the life, the suffering and the second coming to Lord Jesus Christ. So Isaiah 9.6 of the Lord is called among many names the Prince of Peace. Because only in him and by him and through him man can find true peace. Then we find the same message brought upon the earth by the heavenly host at the birth of Lord Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. Now Luke 2.14 Now that message was brought to heaven by a multitude of the heavenly host. Glory to God the highest and an earth peace. Glory to God the highest and an earth peace. Now these words are sung by many people just before Christmas time whole night. And many go as a singing party, singing whole night the same thing. But they sing these words only for the sake of cakes and coffee and tea and dust that they get out of it. They are not concerned with the real peace. They are concerned much more with the cakes and other things. Let me find a photo please. In St John's chapter 20 and verses 19 and 21. Peace be unto you. There is a very first message our Lord is giving to his disciples after resurrection. Peace be unto you. Now these disciples were full of fear and they were hiding themselves in a room with every door and window shut. Now these disciples were full of fear and they were hiding themselves in a room with every door and window shut. And all of a sudden the Lord Jesus Christ came inside. And there is a very first word he spoke. Peace be unto you. What he was saying in John 14 is now being repeated. What he was saying in John 14 is now being repeated. Now these disciples have seen many miracles for three years. And they heard of the Lord's preaching also on his sermons. And for his sake they of course took all and followed him. And they were good people. They are fully familiar with the word of God. But till that day they have not found your peace. Now the Lord is saying peace be unto you. Now he is saying that is why I have to suffer for your sake that my peace may come into you. Now he might be fully familiar with the whole Bible. And also he has seen many miracles being performed here and there in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in you and around you. But tell me have you found true peace? Can you say truthfully, can you say sincerely that the real peace has come into you? And then in every epistle you find the very same word repeated in the beginning. And in every epistle you find the very same word in the beginning. Romans 1-2 Romans 1-2 Romans 1-7 All that we in Rome, beloved of God, call to be saints, grace be to you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Leave it. Then we see further, 1 Corinthians 1 And verse 3 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Then 2 Corinthians 1 And verse 2 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Then Ephesians 1 Verse 3 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Then Ephesians 1 Verse 2 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Now Colossians 1 Verse 2 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Now Colossians 1 Verse 2 Last part Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Now 1 Thessalonians 1 And verse 1 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Then 2 Thessalonians Verse 2 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Then 1 Timothy 1 Verse 2 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Then 2 Timothy Verse 2 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Then 2 Timothy 1 You find the same thing also in Peter 4 Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Now receive Peter 2 Verse 2 And verse 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. Now same thing repeated Same thing repeated Now Peter 2 Verse 2 Peter 2 Verse 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. So in every episode in the beginning the pastor repeats the same thing That means grace of God and the peace of God must go together That means grace of God and the peace of God must go together The more grace, the more peace, the more peace, the more grace You can't have God's grace without 22 peace You can't have God's grace without 22 peace That's why you got to make sure please you have found true peace Then you are deceived by the worldly peace The Lord said not as the world give up, give I unto you Then further please Romans 16 Romans 20 And the God of peace shall be taken under your feet shortly The God of peace shall be taken under your feet shortly Your victory depends upon peace again We don't defeat the devil by Bible knowledge Neither we defeat the devil by fasting and long prayer Nor we defeat the devil by fasting and long prayer Nor we defeat the devil by vision, dreams or miracles The scripture says God of peace shall be taken under your feet The scripture says God of peace shall be taken under your feet shortly And that's why devil will try to disturb your peace before you can come inside And that's why devil will try to disturb your peace before you can come inside He has many many devices to disturb our peace Because only then he can come inside So kindly make sure you have found true peace Otherwise remember you are going to be defeated by devil by some trick or some device Now further please Romans 14 And verse 17 In the name of God we will not eat and drink But righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost In the name of God we will not eat and drink But righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost So your share in God's kingdom also depends upon your peace So your share in God's kingdom also depends upon your peace And similarly in verse 22 Verse 17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace And the work of righteousness shall be peace If you want to become more righteous or more holy then you must have more peace If you want to become more righteous or more holy then you must have more peace And the work of righteousness shall be peace Just by looking outwardly good people we have no proof we are righteous people Even though outwardly you may look very good people Even though outwardly you may look very good people Inwardly you may find the thorn of a devil in your heart Now please see Romans chapter 15 And verse 13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing He may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace God of hope fill you with joy and peace God of hope fill you with joy and peace He may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost Can you find God's power can only work fully in you when you have true peace Can you find God's power can only work fully in you when you have true peace Only by inward peace we hear the voice of God Only by inward peace we hear the voice of God Hebrews 13 Hebrews 13 Now the God of peace from verse 21 Make you perfect in every good work do His will Hebrews 13 verse 21 Hebrews 13 verse 21 God of peace verse 20 and 21 Make you perfect to do His will Hebrews 13 verse 21 God of peace verse 21 God of peace verse 21 Only by inward peace we can be sure and clear of God's perfect will God of peace verse 21 God of peace verse 21 Without inward peace you can't find God's perfect will There is one question put to us again and again everywhere There is one question put to us again and again everywhere Not only by young believers but by matured believers and God's servants How to find, how to make sure of God's perfect will How to find, how to make sure of God's perfect will And because people don't know how to find God's will they make many mistakes They make many mistakes in their business, in their marriages, in many plans of life They make many mistakes in their business, in their marriages, in many plans of life And they pay heavy price for many years And they pay heavy price for many years Now can you see how to make sure that our peace is real and not imitation Now can you see how to make sure that our peace is genuine, real and not only an imitation Now can you see how to make sure that our peace is genuine, real and not only an imitation The first test is John 14 The first test is John 14 Verse 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you Let not your heart be so bored, neither let it be afraid Let not your heart be so bored, neither let it be afraid This peace does not come by any human effort It does not come from any other human being This peace Lord justifies He says my peace I give unto you, I want peace He himself, the living person does become our peace That is why he died and rose again That is why he died and rose again We may die to oldness Only then our Lord himself can come and live in us by the power of resurrection Only then our Lord Jesus Christ can come and live in us by the power of resurrection Unless you are indwelled, but the Lord just dies himself, you won't find that peace Unless you are indwelled, but the Lord just dies himself, you won't find that peace That peace is not depending upon the Bible knowledge or any other human qualification That peace is not depending upon the Bible knowledge or any other human qualification He says my peace I give unto you, not as the world gives He says my peace I give unto you, not as the world gives He cannot live in us unless we are indwelled, purified, cleansed and washed He cannot live in us unless we are indwelled, purified, cleansed and washed And nobody can purify us by one effort And nobody can purify us by their own efforts To cleanse us of every impurity, filth and blood Our Lord Jesus Christ himself cleanses our inner impurities by his blood Then he says, let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid He began the message with the very same words in John 14 That true peace will never use all your fears That true peace will never use all your fears Fear of the past Fear of the future Fear of the enemies Fear of disease Fear of death Fear of war or famine or calamities Fear of poverty, fear of loneliness Poverty, poverty All these fears are driven away by the Lord to become his height Fear of the Lord No human activity can free you from this fear The scripture says, fear has torment The scripture says, fear has torment And that fear will make you restless, take away your sleep, take away everything Fear is much more painful than any painful disease Fear is much more painful than any painful disease Fear affects all your nerves, your whole system, your whole body, your whole being As soon as your whole body starts trembling, fear comes As soon as fear comes in, the heart starts beating fast And the heart starts beating fast What will happen now? What will happen? What will happen? That is fear, isn't it? All these fears are there And no man can take the fear away But the Lord can Let not your heart be troubled Neither let it be afraid Real peace will take away all these fears one by one when you have a living saviour Real peace will take away all these fears one by one when you have a living saviour Secondly, Colossians 3rd chapter Verse 15 Peace of God rule in your hearts and enrich your carbon body and be ye thankful This peace will make you feel one with everybody else No more Andhra, no more Tamilian, no more Punjabi, no more white, no more black, no more rich, no more poor No more Andhra, no more Tamil, no more Punjabi, no more Madhya Pradesh No more Telangana, no more Andhra Whatever may be No more Komti, no more Shomti, no more Reddy's All go the way But Kripta says His Shastra says No man can do it He has tried it and failed He tried but he failed But in Lord Jesus Christ we can feel perfectly one with everybody In the past 5 months I had the privilege to visit 15 countries And never felt other strange countries I did not know their language But I could feel completely one with them But I could feel completely one with them There is no difference between us Only Lord Jesus Christ can make us one like this Only Lord Jesus Christ can make us one like this He says, be ye thankful And says, be ye grateful He will make you and keep you thankful There will be a note of praise and thanks coming in all the time Otherwise you are never satisfied Otherwise you are never satisfied You begin your day murmuring and by murmuring Always something wrong somewhere Either in the coffee or in the rasam or in the upma or in the rice or sambar Same is happening with the coffee and sambar In the coffee, I got the nuts and in the rasam, I got the nuts Otherwise, the mouth, mouth, throat, mouth, throat, throat, throat Guts, guts, guts, throat, throat, throat, throat, throat All the same mistakes All the same mistakes Nothing is right or wrong Everything is wrong In all situations, circumstances, conditions of life, we can thank God for love and mercy and grace. God, we know all these things will eventually turn out proper, good and good, then the second Thessalonian, and number three, and verse sixteen, Lord of peace himself, give you peace always. By all means, the Lord be with you all. Peace for always. Lord himself will give you peace, and he says, the Lord be with you always. That means this peace I am talking about will make you and keep you conscious of the presence of the Lord with you. You will be conscious of his very presence. There are some people, they sleep at night time and alone. They are terrified when they are alone. Nobody in the house will find a dog or a cat to be with them. They are so afraid. They have somewhat zero bulb burning whole night. Otherwise they are afraid. Now you don't require the cat and dog to put you to sleep. God himself is with you. He will put you to sleep. And he will say to you, I am with you, don't be afraid. He will say, I am with you, don't be afraid. That consciousness of the presence is wonderful thing. Now further please, Philippians chapter four, verse seven, and the peace of God we are asking you to keep your heart and mind true to Christ. He will keep you strong in him. Let the people with a very strong army feel safe inside. Same way God peace. He will garrison you around you like a very strong army with many big weapons. Let there be famine or war or earthquake or calamity, you are safe and secure. Let your hair are numbered and your teeth are bottled. You are safe in him. Let there be any change in the world around us. We are safe in our Lord. Perfectly safe, entirely safe, completely safe. Perfectly safe, entirely safe, completely safe, we are safe. And verse six, behold I will bring health and cure and will be in the bundle of peace and truth. I will bring health and cure and will be in the bundle of peace and truth. I will bring health and cure and will be in the bundle of peace and truth. The true peace will heal all your wounds. There are some wounds which cannot be healed by any ointment or medicine. There are some wounds which cannot be healed by any ointment or medicine. They are inside. These wounds are caused by friends or relations or strangers. These wounds are caused by friends or relations or strangers. When the friends betray us, they cause a very deep painful wound. They fail us. The same way you find when your children become unthankful, they leave a very deep wound. These wounds cannot be healed by any method. These wounds cannot be healed by any method. But this peace heals every kind of wound caused by your friends or by enemies. But this peace heals every kind of wound caused by your friends or by enemies. When our enemies try to hurt us by words or by evil speaking, they cause wound. When our enemies try to hurt us by words or by evil speaking, they cause wound. But this peace can heal any kind of wound. But this peace can heal any kind of wound. Psalm 119 Bhajansata 119 165 Great peace have they. Love thy Lord, nothing shall offend them. Psalm 119 165 Great peace have they. Love thy Lord, nothing shall offend them. Love thy Lord, nothing shall offend them. But many believers are very easily offended. Because nobody offers them a cup of tea, they are offended. If somebody does not smile, they get offended. If somebody does not smile, they get offended. And they keep away from the meeting for many many weeks. I went to Hebron and Augustine never even spoke to me. I am not going to go there now. I will not go to Hebron for two months. Their peace is gone. That is a worldly peace. What this peace is here. Nothing shall offend them. Tea or no tea, peace won't go away. Tea or no tea, peace won't go away. This peace is a great peace. Have you found that peace? Book twice here. 26th chapter. Verse 3 Keep in perfect peace, whose mind is set upon thee. It is a perfect peace. It gives you strong faith. In all situations you can trust God and God's word and promises. Now please tell me, have you found that peace? Now how to find that peace? There were two Ephesians. Ephesians 2. 14th chapter. He is our peace. He has made both one and has broken down the middle wall of partition. He is our peace. He has made both one and has broken down the middle wall of partition. Romans 8. Romans 8. Verse 6. What we chronically minded is death. But what we spiritually minded is life and peace. By being spiritually minded we find true peace. By being spiritually minded we find true peace. By dying to old nature we find true peace. By receiving divine nature we find true peace. By receiving divine nature we find true peace. That is why the Lord died for you. He may die to your nature. He also died to take away your punishment. He also died to take away your punishment. And rose again to give you new nature. Divine nature. And that nature gives peace. And by obeying God's word we have peace multiplied. Book of Isaiah. Chapter 48. Verse 18. Verse 18. O Lord, hearken to my commandment. Then hath thy peace been delivered. By hearkening to his voice our peace multiplied. By hearkening to his voice our peace multiplied. May the Lord speak to you. And give that peace to you. We haven't got it. Ask for it. Don't remain without it. And you can have it right now. Now you are going to pray. And please don't give up your prayer. Now please don't give up your stuff, don't give up your cycle, don't give up your car, even resign. And you keep the gate locked. And present before the Pentecostal of the glory is a sitting joy to the only one God of our Saviour. The Lord in His glory, in His power both now and evermore.
