Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the desire to see and feel Jesus in their gathering. They believe that Jesus is present to heal and restore those who are wounded and in need. The preacher acknowledges the longing to physically see Jesus like the disciples did after His resurrection, but reminds the audience that even though they may not see Him with their human eyes, they can still have a deep and intimate connection with Him through their inner being. This connection is made possible through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which allows believers to be one with Christ and have the power of God's Spirit within them.
Sermon Transcription
And as he drew near to me, I felt that glorious attraction. Sir, we would see Jesus, sir. We would feel Jesus. We would have his presence come into our gathering tonight, that all might feel him and know him. What are you looking for? Sir, we would see Jesus. We would have that hope that we too would see Jesus. He would reveal himself to some of us as to the disciples in the maze road. He would appear and walk with us. Some, he might come into a locked chamber and there reveal himself. If we could transport ourselves back into that first century and we were all alive with the apostles and with these early Christians, immediately after his resurrection, at this very day of his resurrection, we would hope that we too might be privileged to see him in his resurrection hour. I would love to see Jesus like that, but it's as though in the back of my consciousness, it's as though there comes almost a voice steadying me and a word comes in. Yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet know we him so no more. Don't you realize that he said, Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. And though your human eyes may never see the form of the Lord Jesus, there is an inward, not just an eye, but there is an inner heart. There is an inner being that can reach out and you not only see the Lord Jesus, but you feel the Lord Jesus, and you are one with Christ in an indissoluble union. You are part of Jesus Christ. You are one in Christ and with him. I believe you who are baptized in the Holy Spirit can have a closer union. You can be one with him, baptized in the Holy Spirit. What spirit? What spirit? The Holy Spirit. The spirit by which Christ was raised from the dead. Having that spirit moving in power within you, dominating your life, leading you, directing you, controlling you. What spirit? Stay in ponder. It's not the spirit of a great man. It's not the spirit of a great leader. It's the spirit of Almighty God. You know, as we go along the road and we're attacked by the wicked one, and we're sometimes mauled in the battle, and our wounds run red with blood as the claw marks come down our spiritual being, and we grow weary at times by the way, bloody but unbeaten, arises a longing to just feel Jesus, and I feel tonight I could have gathered the whole company in my arms, and I know that there are needs here, and there are wounds, and there are putrefying sore, and he's there at the sheepfold with the oil of healing, and each as it comes through the gateway is the touch of his hand, and he feels for the wound, and he pours in the oil, and he makes you whole again. Relax. He wants you now.
