Corrie Ten Boom

Cornelia Arnolda Johanna “Corrie” ten Boom (1892–1983). Born on April 15, 1892, in Haarlem, Netherlands, to a devout Dutch Reformed family, Corrie ten Boom was a watchmaker, evangelist, and Holocaust survivor. Raised in the Beje, her family’s watch shop and home, she became the first licensed female watchmaker in the Netherlands in 1922. A committed Christian, she ran clubs for girls and taught Sunday school. During World War II, she and her family hid Jews from the Nazis, creating a secret room in their home, saving many lives as part of the Dutch underground. Arrested in 1944, Corrie and her sister Betsie were sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp, where Betsie died, but Corrie was miraculously released due to a clerical error. After the war, she traveled globally, preaching forgiveness and God’s love, sharing her story in over 60 countries. Her book The Hiding Place (1971), co-authored with John and Elizabeth Sherrill, became a bestseller, detailing her faith and wartime experiences. Unmarried, she died on her 91st birthday, April 15, 1983, in Placentia, California, saying, “Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hatred.”

Sermon Transcription
Can you pray for everything? Is there something in your life for which you cannot pray? Then there is a sinner. I have always been a watchmaker. And for 25 years. And I can still buy my watches in Switzerland for the purchase price. So, that is very nice. When I was in Switzerland the last time, I bought three watches. And I put them in a corner of my suitcase, so that no watchmaker in the world could find my watches. You know, you have to pay a very high price for watches in Holland. But I know very well how to hide things. I was an underground worker. And I know how to hide things. Before I went to the plane, I prayed. I prayed, dear father in heaven, will you make sure that we have a good flight? Lord, give the pilot wisdom, that the weather is nice, that we have a good landing. Oh yes, Lord, and after the landing, will you help me to smuggle my ears? Uh, no. No, I could not say, will you help me to smuggle my ears? And I did not smuggle my ears. The moment I knew that I could not pray for that, I knew that there was a sin. Yes, of course, smuggling is stealing. And I was very stupid not to realize that. But because I could not pray for that, I knew that there was a sin. Tell me, can you not pray for something? Can you pray for the book that you read? Can you pray for your sex life? For this friendship that you have? For the way you earn your bread? And how you use your free time? Is there something that you cannot pray for? There is a sin there. Yes, it may be that some of you say, oh yes, it is like this, that it is not quite right with me. And I thought that too. Being a child of God, being a Christian, that is for good people. But I can tell you, being a child of God, being a Christian, is not for good people. There was a kind of people that Jesus could not help and wanted to help. They were the Pharisees who said, I am good. But if you are a sinner, then Jesus said, for you I have come into the world and for you I live. You know, every man who knows that he is a sinner says, oh, the bank account of the Bible is sealed by my sins. Yes, there are 17,000 names, but I am not good enough for that. The bank account of the Bible is sealed by my sins. And that is not true. Because this book is the only book in the whole world that gives the answer to your and my problem of sin. And if we know that we are sinners, then we can come. As a prisoner, the interrogation was the most terrible moment and the most dangerous. Of all the tensions that I experienced as a prisoner, not one was as big as the moment I was brought there for my prosecutor, who was my judge. I knew that if this man would interrogate me, and I would tell him what I did, then I would have to name other people as well, and then many would be killed. The life of many people depended on my loyalty. The judge asked me a lot. He asked me what diplomas I had. I had to describe my whole life to him. Where I went to school, and what I did in my free time. And I can tell you that I told him everything honestly. But when he asked me about my misdeeds, I did not tell him everything. He knew of 8 Jews that I saved, and maybe there were 800. But when he asked me about my free time, I told him everything, even about a job that I did as a sinner. In my booklet, Mind is Not Necessary, I talk about a job that I had before the war, where I found that sinners could not go to church, because they could not understand a sermon. And Jesus died for the sins of the whole world, also for the sins of sinners. And you and I, we need Jesus as a friend, and the sinners need him just as much as you and I. And I have learned that if you simply tell these people about Jesus, then the Holy Spirit can make these people happy Christians. And I tell you about this in the booklet, only stories that I have heard. And this is a call to bring the gospel to the weak, because God does not need our mind to reveal himself. And we need the Holy Spirit to understand the things of the Bible. When I told this to the National Socialist officer, he said, What nonsense! Is it not worth more to convert a normal person than an abnormal one? I understood that this was what a National Socialist thought. But I told him, if you knew Jesus, you would ask him to have great love for everything that is despised and in need. Is it not possible that a poor sinner has more worth in his loving eyes than the two of us? Then he gave no answer, but sent me back to my cell. But the next day I was brought back to him. And then he said, I could not sleep tonight. I always had to think about what you said about Jesus. I do not know about him. We have enough time for interrogation. First you have to tell me what you know about Jesus. Ah, that was an opportunity. Then I told this man about Jesus. Suddenly I said, Jesus is a light that has come into the world, so that every man who believes in him does not remain in darkness. And I asked, is there darkness in your life? Then the judge said, there is no darkness, there is no light in my life at all. And you know, suddenly it was not a judge, a lawyer sitting in front of me, but a man, a poor man who was in need. And I could tell him about the ocean of love of God, which we get to know through the Lord Jesus. After me, Betsy, my sister, was interrogated. And when she was with him and had to tell everything, she also told him about Jesus. And then she said, it is very important to speak about the Lord. It is more important to speak to him. And he said, allow me to pray with you. And he said yes. And she prayed with him. She, the prisoner, with her judge. Four times Betsy was interrogated. Four times she prayed with him. Peter von Wörtern, my nephew, was in my house because he wanted to play the piano. And that is why he also came with me to prison. And the judge asked him, Peter, do you think the war will make a better world? No, said Peter. He was 16 years old, this boy. No, he said, a war is never a blessing. Well, he said, do you think there will be a better world in the future? I think he wanted to give him an opportunity to say, yes, National Socialism will create a better world. But Peter did not think about it and said, yes, there will be a better world. And then Jesus said, I will come and make all things new. And then this earth will be covered with the knowledge of the Lord, as the water covers the bottom of the sea. This is written in the Bible. And the judge was a little surprised and surprised and said, yes, yes, yes, I think so too. Yes, said Peter. And are you ready to come for Jesus? I find it wonderful to see a 16-year-old boy who said this to his judge in whose hands his life was. But now it was strange. The Lord touched the heart of this judge, because we have witnessed our faith. And I experienced that. Because suddenly a terrible moment came, which I will never forget in my life. There he showed me papers that had been found in my house. And to my horror I read names, addresses and specials that could mean that my friends had to be killed. My relatives were in danger of life. And my friends, some were still in freedom. And here were the addresses. You will say, yes, how could you have such papers in your house? But you must not forget that I did this underground work with many children. And he praised them for the good work they did. I mean children, such young people from 14 to 18. But they were not always careful. And that's why the papers were found in my house. The judge said, can you explain these papers? I said, no, I can't. I did not feel so miserable. But because the Lord touched his heart through the testimonies of my relatives and me, he wanted to help us. He knew better than me how dangerous the papers were. And suddenly he took them and threw them into the fire, into the oven. Yes, I became so happy. When I saw how the flames were scorching these terrible papers, for the first time I understood something that the Bible says, that Paul says in Colossians 2,14. Christ has nailed to the cross the guilt note whose contents he accused us of, torn apart, disposed of, and nailed to the cross. Yes, there are dangerous papers for us. The papers where our sins are written, up there in heaven. And if we take Jesus as our salvation, then we can trust that he also nailed our papers to the cross. We also come as children of God, as Christians, for the day of judgment, but not to hear whether our future is in heaven or in hell, because the future for a child of God is the house of the Father, like the many homes. The day of judgment is for a Christ, a price day of judgment. But friend, who yesterday said no or nothing to the invitation of Jesus to give him your heart, do not wait until it is too late, because there is a book where your sins are written, and for the day of judgment of God, where everyone comes, you too, whether you believe it or not, it will be terrible if you refuse Jesus. Yes, that is the wonderful thing, that if we know the Bible with all the many incantations, that we need not be afraid that it is not for us because we are sinners. Because most of the wonderful incantations are just the answer to our need for sin. Our punishment is carried on the cross. The handwriting of our sins is nailed to the cross. But Jesus did not die for us alone, much more he lives for us, and he is at the right hand of the Father, and he represents us. And the Bible always says, when we confess our sins, then God is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sins that we confess to him. There has never been an apology cleansed. You know, that's why a child of God must learn to look at Jesus. Look away from your sins to Jesus. A while ago I had an accident in Haarlem, my father's city. It was not so bad, but it was so that I could not go. A policeman helped me to carry me in a car. When a policeman does something in Holland, he always gets his booklet and has to make a report. So he asked me, what is your name? I said, Corrie ten Boom. What? Are you one of the Ten Boom family that we arrested about ten years ago? I said, yes, that's me. You have to understand, that during the war, the good Dutch policemen were in the service of the Gestapo. And they stayed there to help us political prisoners. They praised them for everything they did for us. And this man was justified, he had service the evening we were arrested. And he told me after ten years, I will never forget, that the night, that the Ten Boom family were sitting on the floor of the room in the police station. There were no chairs. And we were all sitting on the floor. My father, my brother, my two sisters, my nephew and about 50 friends. Then the man said, there was an atmosphere as if it was a celebration. So joyful, instead of the most of you in prison had to die. I often tell the other policemen, that their father said, children, let's pray first before we try to sleep. And then he took his Bible and read Psalm 91. This man still knew, after ten years, which psalm father had read. Whoever sits under the shield of the Most High, and remains under the shadow of the Almighty, he speaks to the Lord, my confidence and my brother, my God on whom I hope. When I come to heaven, then I will ask my father a question. I like to fantasize a little about heaven. You too. I think it's wonderful that when I have fantasized a lot about heaven, that reality is a trillion and several times bigger than my greatest fantasy. So we can go on quietly. But one thing I know from the Bible. I know that we know each other in heaven. There is a story here of Jesus and the disciples, who saw Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Glorification. And I don't even read what Jesus said. I can imagine my disciples Moses and Elijah. But the disciples knew that this is Moses and this is Elijah. Why? Because these two glorified heavenly bodies had. And in heaven we will know each other much better than here. Yes, I think my father will ask something. I will say, Father, do you remember the last night in the Smedestraat in Haarlem, in the police station, where we were together the last time? I think my father will say, yes, child, I remember that. And I will say, Father, do you remember that there was a policeman who was on duty? And it can seem very good, and I expect myself that my father will say, a policeman? No, I don't remember that. My father didn't live in a way that he thought, now I have to do something and ask for this policeman to be a blessing. No, my father didn't live like that. My father lived very relaxed. But he was always like that, his whole life was focused on Jesus. And when you are focused on Jesus, then it is written in the Bible, Now let the clarity of the Lord be reflected in us all. Jesus makes us a reflection of his clarity. A reflection doesn't do much. It hangs or stands in the right direction, and then it does its work. When we look at Jesus, then Jesus does the work to make us a reflection. But now the clarity of the Lord is reflected in us all, with a covered face, and we are enlightened in the same image of one clarity to the other, as of the Lord who is the Spirit. I hope that some of you will get a change of perspective. Away from yourself and your sins, to Jesus! Away from your problems and difficulties, to Jesus! And then I know, then you will live very relaxed. Because then you know that Jesus does the work. And then I also know that I believe that when you come to heaven, then you will hear from different people, you invited me here. And then you will say, me? When was that? And then you will find out, oh yes, that was the time that I had a real change of perspective, on Jesus. I hope that many will look up from now on. You know, that is so necessary, especially when you are in difficulties. There was a man in a big store that I visited before Christmas. And he said, oh, I am so busy, I have so many difficulties, I am personal and I don't know how to do my work. I knew that he was a Christian and said, how wonderful that you don't have to do this alone. He said, what do you mean? I said, I am a friend, our Jesus. He said, do you think that I have time to think about it? I said, oh man, have you seen a mountain climber who climbs a very heavy mountain? And then he said, mountain guide, man, give me a hand. But then the mountain climber said, oh man, don't you see that I am too busy to climb this heavy mountain to think about a mountain guide? What a stupid man would that be? Especially when we are having a hard time. Especially when you put your ears up to your ears into work and problems. Especially then you have to have a change of eyes to Jesus. He said, I will be with you every day until the end of the world. And he will do it. Again I have to warn you that your sins do not block the bank account of the Bible, because Jesus did not only die for us, he lives for us. And the moment you have committed a sin, you have to bring it to the Lord Jesus immediately. And there is one of the wonderful chapters of the Bible, when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and the blood of Jesus makes us clean of all sins. But you don't have to wait until later. The moment you sin, you have to bring it to the Lord. Once I was in Japan, and I could speak once in a church. I don't like that. I am so happy that I can speak here three times. You know, it is terrible how people think it is very good, but the poor evangelists, like me, are sent from one side to the other, there once and there once. And I have so much to tell. I said to this pastor in Japan, do you want to shorten your liturgy, because I can only speak once, and I need every minute. Yes, said the pastor, I will do that, but he did not allow it. At half past eleven he began with his liturgy, at half past twelve he was still busy with his liturgy. There was a collector, and he prayed a long prayer for the collector, and he prayed a long prayer for the collector, and I looked at my watch. Half past twelve. And I was very impatient. Impatience is a sin. And at half past twelve I prayed, Father, in the name of Jesus, forgive me my impatience. And at half past twelve I found out that Jesus is at the right hand of the Father, my spokesman, my lawyer. I do not know how it goes, but I can imagine that Jesus says, Father, I also take on this impatience of the collector. And at half past twelve the blood of Jesus cleansed my heart of impatience. And I thought, ah, that must be a very blessed collector. Two long prayers. Why did I say half past twelve? Because I not only have a spokesman, a lawyer, Jesus, I also have a prosecutor, the devil, who prosecutes us children of God night and day. And because we hear too much about this prosecutor, we live like beggars. But it may be that the prosecutor accuses me at five minutes after half past twelve, but I have no fear at all. Because when the prosecutor accuses me, Jesus has already reprimanded me. When he is ready to watch, Jesus has prayed for me. That God protects me, that is my confidence. And immediately when you pray, immediately bring it to the Lord, then you immediately have purification through the blood of Jesus. And when you have brought it to the Lord, then you must thank for 1 John 1, 7 and 9, that God is faithful and just to forgive our sins. I can tell you, because the incantations of God are the greatest reality in the whole world. And we, with our doubts and with our problems, yes, I am in Germany, and with our yes-buts, have almost lost the joy of the reality of God's incantations. When we have brought these sins to the Lord, we do not have to ask for forgiveness for the same sins a second time. Two weeks ago I was with Mrs. Schmidt, a very dear woman, but I do not know, she has something that makes me impatient again and again. She meant well, but I was, I was very unfriendly, very impatient with her. In the evening in bed I thought, yes, I thought, that is terrible, she was so good to me, and I was so unfriendly. I said, Father, in the name of Jesus, will you forgive me my impatience and unfriendliness for Mrs. Schmidt. And I know that I had forgiveness. The next day, in my quiet time, I thought again about this impatience, and before I realized what I had done, I said again, Father, yesterday I was so unfriendly to Mrs. Schmidt. Oh yes, Father, thank you that you forgave me last night. I had almost asked for forgiveness again. God would not have honored that, if he said, I am faithful and just, to forgive you your sins, and the blood of Jesus is purified from all sins. Then he meant it. And he meant every word with his proclamations. And it will be the highest time, that we also mean it and make it serious with his proclamations. Imagine that I come home tonight, and that my dear host sets in front of me a good cup of German bean coffee. Now imagine that I say to her, I have spoken twice today, and my throat is a little dry. Won't you give me a cup of coffee? Oh, I would be ashamed. She has put it in front of me. I honor her as my hostess, when I ask again. I honor her when I say, oh, that is when I drink it and say, what a good coffee it is, almost as good as the Dutch coffee. My friends, when God gave a proclamation in his word, then he meant it seriously. And it will be the highest time, that we children of God also mean it seriously, with the glorious proclamations of God. Then we are happy children of God. Then there will be fewer long faces among the children of God. Then we will have round faces again, which we need very much. Because the world does not read this book, the world reads us. We are the Bible for the world. You know, the devil likes it when we always look at our sins. But we have to look at Jesus. Look at Jesus, and otherwise you will not become the greatest sinner, as soon as a child of light. A visitor came to a weaving school. And he saw the magnificent patterns, which the people were weaving there. And he said, what do you have to do when you make a mistake? Do you have to cut it out? Or start again from scratch? No, said the student. Our master is such a great artist, that when we make a mistake, then he uses this mistake to beautify the pattern. Isn't that wonderful? When we submit our sins to the Lord, then he himself can beautify the pattern of our lives with our sins. So that Paul almost made a great theological mistake and said, we have to sin even more, to get even more grace. No, no, no, Paul, that was not good. But it is good to know, that we have to submit it. And then we leave it in the hands of the Lord, to beautify the pattern much easier. I was in Japan. Now the Japanese are so, that when you are there for a short time, all faces are about the same. Something like that, six different types. There I see a Hasekiya, there I see two Hasekiya, and there are all the same flat faces, Japanese faces. It is said that the Japanese have the same difficulty, when they come here, then they all see the same faces here in the church. Now this can be very difficult. Once I was in a Bible circle and saw a Japanese man coming in. I thought, ah, that is the director of the pastors' seminar, where I spoke every week. But he was not. He was a professor of a university, where I also came, and where there were no Christians at all. And when I thought, that is the seminar director, when I was finished, I said, and do you want to pray with us now? Then the professor said, I pray? I have never done that in my life. Suddenly I saw my mistake. I said, oh professor, it does not matter, I will do it. Yes, now the Japanese are very polite people. And then he came to me, so ten times, bowing down, and said, oh, Fr. Bohm, I am so sorry that I could not do what you asked me. I said, oh professor, I honor you. You are far too honest to say a prayer when you can not pray yet. Maybe someone else said something without believing it, but you are far too honest. I honor you. But, oh professor, why are you not a Christian? No, he said, then I have to study Christianity first. I said, oh professor, this book does not say that one who has studied Christianity gets the power to become a child of God, but it says, those who accept Jesus, he gives them the power to become a child of God. And then I read him different texts, talked to him, after half an hour this professor made the decision for Jesus that the angels in heaven gave joy. Then the Lord used the error of the stupid Corinthians Bohm to beautify the pattern, to make this professor the glorious decision that brought him into light from darkness. Oh, that was so glorious. That is what I mean, that the Lord often uses our errors, our errors, to beautify the pattern. But now I read something in the newspaper, and I have to say, errors have their value, but only here and there. Not everyone who goes to India discovers America. We are called children of light. Yes, we children of God, I have only spoken about the sins, and also about the long faces. Oh, I have to say, in Germany there are many children of God with long faces. Yes, I have to say that from the heart. You know, Germans take themselves so animalistically serious. We Dutch are also very problematic, we really are, but every Dutchman goes to stand in front of the mirror from time to time, and then he laughs at himself. You have to do a little more. Now maybe some of you say, but Corrie, you can't tell me that I have a long face. I have so many problems. Yes, that may be. But our problems are, a child of light should not have a light barrier. If we know the word of God, with all its meanings, then we know that our problems and difficulties are meant by God as material for his miracles. And if we need a great miracle, we have to submit to God our impossibilities. No, they are not our problems, they are our sins, those who heard me six years ago still know about the flashlight. They told me, I still know about the flashlight, but not everyone heard me six years ago, so I want to show it again. This flashlight gives no light, just like you with your long face. Now it is not broken, it is not broken, but I will show you what is going on. Instead of the last battery, there are lumps in the flashlights. No wonder there is no light. We all know that I need two batteries to give light. What do I mean by that? The first battery is what happened to different people yesterday in this sacristy. When people made a decision for Jesus, and I hope that tonight many will do it again. And it is written in the Bible, if we decide for Jesus, then he gives us the full power to become children of God. Then one comes from darkness into light. Then one comes into a world of wealth. Because the moment we make the decision, all promises are written in our name and signed by the Lord Jesus. Now we have to pay these checks. This is your checkbook. And if you think that the first decision is everything, then you are just like the flashlight with one battery. Yes, I know, it is very important. It is so important that the angels in heaven rejoice over the decision of a man who says his truly meant yes to Jesus. And yet this is only the beginning. Now the Lord opens the door of the treasury and you can come in. And you don't have to start on the ground. You can start on the height where Jesus fulfilled everything on the cross. And one of these promises is that Jesus said, I will send you the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit is here. And the Bible says, become full of the Spirit. This is a commandment. A commandment is not a proposal. God meant it. And this is one of the most glorious commandments. Become full of the Spirit. And if we demand this, then we must know, yes, if we have made the first decision, then we have the Holy Spirit. Because the Holy Spirit promises with our spirit that we are children of God. But we must become full of the Spirit. This is the second battery. But the Lord cannot lead a heart where there are sins. These lumps are sins that we have not delivered. This is a need for redemption. This is a sense of inferiority. Is this a lump? Is this a sin? Is this not humility? No, this is arrogance. Imagine that I would have said tonight, oh, really, I cannot speak to these four people here. They know so much more than Corrie ten Boom. I am just a watchmaker. I am just Corrie ten Boom. What did I mean by that? I meant that I would much rather know more than Corrie ten Boom. What is this? This is arrogance. If you have a sense of inferiority, then you will appear to me as you are. This is arrogance. This is hate. Have you ever hated in your life? I have hated. When I brought Betsy to a hospital in Ravensbrück, I saw that a sick nurse was beating her. And I hated this sick nurse. The night after, Betsy died. I thought that I had overcome this hatred. But six years ago I was in a small meeting and suddenly I saw the nurse. And at the same moment I felt hatred for her. Why couldn't you be good for my dying sister? Then I was very ashamed. I know from the Bible that when I brought my sins to the Lord Jesus, then he threw them into the depths of the sea. Forgiven and forgotten. And I know for sure, this is not in the Bible, but I know this, I imagine this, that he makes a poster that says, Fishing is forbidden. This is done by Jesus. And what did I do? For ten years I hated this nurse in my subconscious. And Jesus said that we have to forgive. But this is the glory of a child of God. That he knows what to do with the sins. Oh, we are attacked by the devil. Just as much as the people in the world. Maybe even more. But we know what to do with the lumps. When we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive our sins. And the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sins that we confess. I said, Father, in the name of Jesus, will you forgive me my hatred? And the two things that always happen when we confess a sin in the name of Jesus. First, I had forgiveness. And second, the blood of Jesus cleansed me of my hatred. And when the blood of Jesus does something, he does it thoroughly. Instead of hatred, I felt love, God's love for this nurse. And after the meeting, I went to her and I showed her the way to salvation. And I had the great joy to bring the nurse to a decision for Jesus. Do you see the miracle? I hated her. But I was not aware for ten years, but in my subconscious, I brought the hatred to the Lord Jesus and he cleansed my heart so that he could use me as a pure window through which his light could shine in her dark heart. Friends, our sin problem is solved. There remains a fight until the last moment of our lives. Because we need all the armor of God to stand and to win. But the armor of God is Jesus himself, who died for us and lives for us. Live! Do you want to do something tonight? No, I don't want to invite you. Will you look for your lump in your flashlight? Your sin in your heart. The devil likes it when we always look at ourselves in retrospect. No, look up and pray, oh God, and God will tell you what sins there are in your heart. Injustice, impurity, witchcraft, marriage, not being able to forgive. Whatever the Lord tells you, don't make an apology, because the blood of Jesus can and does not want to make an apology. But say, yes, Father, that is true, forgive me my jealousy, my righteousness, or whatever the Lord tells you. And when you have brought your last lump to the Lord, then give yourself completely to the Lord, and then you can believe in him, the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and he will make you a child of sin. I wanted to say like this flashlight, but it doesn't work. Oh, I think I forgot a little lump. You know, it may be that you have it in us. A very small and constant sin is just a little inhibition, just a little righteousness, or grudging. But friends, in God's eyes there are no small sins. I said yesterday, in Africa more people died because of the little mosquitoes than because of lions and tigers. And indeed, I forgot a lump. But it is paper. Oh, no, it's not about this 10 Mark bill. It's not a lump, it's not a sin. You were just in the wrong place. Money doesn't have to be in a flashlight. You know, it may be that if we have too much of this paper or too little, then the devil brings the money into our hearts. But our hearts don't have to be full of money, but with the Holy Spirit. Do you want to do it? Yes, because I'll say one more word. When you have everything in your hands and your heart is cleansed, give yourself to the Lord Jesus. Completely. Completely. You know, we can't compromise with the Lord. We can only really be victorious, joyful children of God when we give ourselves completely. Are you afraid of that? You don't need to be afraid. You know, I heard an old pastor say that he had his granddaughter with him on the weekend. The little thing was only three years old and for the first time a weekend without a mother. The old pastor put the little bed by his bed. And that was good, because in the middle of the night he heard a voice, he said, Grandfather, I'm afraid. Will you give me a hand? And in the dark he gave his hand to the little one. Then he heard a voice, Grandfather, is your face facing me? He said, yes, my child, all night I will lie so that my face is facing you. Oh, he said, then I understood the joy of giving. When we give ourselves completely to the Lord, with our worries, with our sins, then we know that Jesus holds our hand, the hand that does not let us hold it. And Jesus' face is always facing us. And we can look up to Jesus in faith, but we do not yet see him face to face. But Jesus sees us, because when we give ourselves completely, look at my thumb, then we are hidden with Jesus in God. Do you see? The thumb is you. This hand around me is Jesus. This is God. Give yourself completely, and you will experience that it is glorious to be in Jesus, Jesus in you, and also your disappointments. Oh, how often I have seen children of God who were so disappointed. When you put your disappointments in the hands of the Lord, then he makes you a winner. When I was a young woman, I suddenly realized that I might not get married. But I wanted to get married. I was healthy. But the man I loved, and he loved me, he actually wanted to marry a woman with a lot of money. Actually, his mother wanted that, and he did. And when this young man put his wife's hand in my hand and said, I would love for you to become friends, then something broke. That's what I thought. But then I went on my knees and said, Lord Jesus, I belong to you 100 percent. Not a corner of my life is there that doesn't matter that you are the winner. Here I bring my sex life, Lord. I want to give myself completely to you. I bring my disappointment to you. And friends, it was a fight, but short. And then came the son of Jesus. And in this I also learned that Jesus is the winner. And I didn't become a sour old woman. You know, the wonderful thing was that I learned that the energy that a woman needs for her marriage I could always give to the work of the Lord. And those who love God do all things, including this, for the best. And don't forget that we are all in training for higher services. And it may be that this is also a part of the training. An athlete doesn't complain when the training is hard. He thinks about the future and doesn't forget about God. The best is yet to come. And bring your disappointments to the Lord. Because tonight at the end I will say again what I said yesterday that there in the sacristy there is a room where anyone can come who wants to make the first decision for Jesus. You can do that with Jesus alone. But I can tell you it is much easier when you speak to another child god. And I will be there and also various others who can help you. And if you want to do that you have to come. If there is still this lump in your pocket lamp, the inhibitions, then throw them out. The inhibitions make life too complicated. Live a little easier and happier. Accept this wonderful offer that we want to help you and let the others go away and they won't laugh at you when you go there. But if you don't want to do that, then what's the problem? It doesn't matter. To make a decision for Jesus with the happiest, happiest, most glorious thing of your life. That is a decision, the greatest that a person can make in time and eternity. And I can tell you there is no risk to follow Jesus. I heard from Napoleon that he said to his soldiers, Men, I can't promise you that if you are hungry that there is something to eat. I can't promise you that if it rains that you get a house. Blood and sweat. But I can tell you one thing, you are in service of a general, of a king who has never lost a battle. He has lost the last battle. But my friend, if you come to Jesus tonight, then you will give your life to a king. A king who has never lost a battle and will never lose it. Jesus has never lost a battle and will never lose it. Because with unlimited power he can lead wars. Under his cross is the best place ever. Hallelujah! Amen! We will pray. We can sit down. Lord Jesus, how wonderful that you invite us to come to you. And when we come to you to bring all our sins to you and to lay our whole lives in your hands. Oh Lord, how wonderful you are for us that you want to have us 100% to fill us 100% with your Holy Spirit, your joy, your love. Thank you Lord that you gave us the Holy Spirit and thank you Holy Spirit with round faces, children of light, without light barriers. Thank you Lord. Amen!
