Sermon Summary
In this video, the speaker discusses how North Korean propaganda songs have been transformed by Christians into messages for God's people. The first song, originally praising the Communist Party and the country, is reinterpreted to emphasize following the Lord and living only for Him. The second song, renamed "Song of Faith," focuses on the unchanging love, hope, and faith shared among believers, even in difficult times. The speaker expresses admiration for the creativity and boldness of North Korean believers and encourages listeners to pray for God's work in North Korea and in their own lives.

Welcome to the audio weblog of the Hackberry House of Chosim. Today, how to use propaganda for Jesus. All praise belongs to Jesus. The North Koreans have been grabbing songs of praise and commitment to communism and Kim Jong-il and turning them into messages for God's people. How we love their boldness and creativity. Here are numbers two and three of this series. Remember that these are translated from the original North Korean, a little bit stiff in English, but you'll get the picture. The first one, What is Life? This was a propaganda song asking North Korean young people to offer their lives for the Communist Party and the country. In mid-1990, Kim Jong-il complimented this song, saying that it combines literary and artistic qualities. It's commonly sung by North Korean people. In the original, it goes like this. If somebody asked what life is, we will answer like this. It is the past that you can look back with a smile on your last moment. As the streams gather to form a river, each day gathers to make a lifetime. Who can blame if it is short? Eternity has nothing in common with time. If somebody asked what life is, we will answer like this. It is the moment that was given to the country that will never be forgotten with time. Well, the Christians got a hold of this and turned it around a little bit. They wrote it like this. What is life? If someone asks what life is, we will answer like this. It's the way of following the Lord who suffered for our sins. If someone asks what life is, we will answer like this. It's the way of living only for the Lord. That is what eternal life is for you and me. If someone asks what life is, we will answer like this. It is the way of only serving the Lord, the one who gives us faith and hope. Then there was one called Wait for Me. It was renamed by the Christians Song of Faith. They actually rewrote the whole song so that the rhythm stays the same and maybe the tune in the original, but all the words and ideas are different. But in the original, it goes, Let's not cry when we depart from each other. Let's not be sorrowful when we walk on the thorny road. Wait for me, wait, wait for me. We'll meet again when the day of independence comes. Well, the Christians look at it this way. May the love we share never change. May it never change though time passes by. As the flower that follows the sun, may our love for the one never change. May the hope we share never change. May it never change though we walk the thorny path. Like the sun and moon that lights the dark world, may we live tomorrow as a beam of light May the faith we share never change. May it never change though the storm is heavy. Though it may be lonely to walk to the end, may you and I live eternity in faith. And we here in the West say amen. And we say thank you again, North Korean believers. You inspire us so much.
