Corrie Ten Boom

Cornelia Arnolda Johanna “Corrie” ten Boom (1892–1983). Born on April 15, 1892, in Haarlem, Netherlands, to a devout Dutch Reformed family, Corrie ten Boom was a watchmaker, evangelist, and Holocaust survivor. Raised in the Beje, her family’s watch shop and home, she became the first licensed female watchmaker in the Netherlands in 1922. A committed Christian, she ran clubs for girls and taught Sunday school. During World War II, she and her family hid Jews from the Nazis, creating a secret room in their home, saving many lives as part of the Dutch underground. Arrested in 1944, Corrie and her sister Betsie were sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp, where Betsie died, but Corrie was miraculously released due to a clerical error. After the war, she traveled globally, preaching forgiveness and God’s love, sharing her story in over 60 countries. Her book The Hiding Place (1971), co-authored with John and Elizabeth Sherrill, became a bestseller, detailing her faith and wartime experiences. Unmarried, she died on her 91st birthday, April 15, 1983, in Placentia, California, saying, “Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hatred.”

Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the importance of surrendering our difficulties and problems to God, as He can turn them into miracles. The preacher uses the analogy of a pocket lamp with a dead battery to illustrate how without the power of God, our lives can be devoid of light. The message is directed towards those who have already accepted Jesus and become children of God. The preacher also highlights the significance of confessing our sins and seeking forgiveness, drawing from the example of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. The sermon encourages believers to trust in God's power and to rely on His grace for transformation and freedom from sin.
Sermon Transcription
Friends, I am very happy that so many windows are open here, but I want to say that if it gets too cold for some, then you just have to say it, then we can close it quietly. There is not as little oxygen tonight as yesterday. And that's why I don't want to have on my conscience that you get cold, because I would like to have a little fresh air. Me too. The beggar is actually nothing more than the one beggar who tells the other beggar where to get bread. So it's not that when I talk about sin and move my fingers a little bit, then it's not just for you, but also for me. We need a Lord Jesus to save us from sin, but we also need the sight of his accomplished work and his resurrection. And now I want to read first Matthew 5, 43, because I also want to talk here tonight about forgiving others. So that can be a great darkness in our lives if we don't forgive each other. And Jesus says it very clearly, 5, 43. Because if you love those who love you, what value does that have? And if you are only friendly to your brothers, what is so special about that? The heathens do that too. You shall be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect. That's a very serious word. And then 6, 14. Because if you forgive people their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive people, your Father will not forgive you your transgressions either. And then we read in 1 John 1, 7. But if we go on in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from every sin. But if we confess our sins, if we say we have nothing to do with sin, we deceive ourselves. And the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just that he forgives us our sins and cleanses us from every injustice. What kind of Christ are you? I don't know. I can only hope for the best. From those I know here, I know that you are very friendly people. I can't even look into your heart. But three know what kind of Christ you are. The first is the world. The world around you. The world that is very critical of Christians. We have a high ideal. And if you are such a Christ who goes to church on Sunday and then on Monday, so the difficulties in business, so fought through small dishonesty, if you are unfriendly and have a long face, then the world says, well, look, this is now a Christ. The world demands the truth. And if you see the true Christianity, then you are hungry to know more about it. Even Nietzsche said, I could have believed in a redeemer if the Christians looked more redeemed. Yes, a Christ with a long face does not look very redeemed. And the world knows it. The second way is the devil. The devil knows exactly what is in your heart, in your life. And if you are such a Christ who is so calm in your heart that I leave on the throne, you know, I said yesterday, in the heart of a Christ is a cross and a throne. If that's me on the throne, then Jesus is on the cross. If Jesus is on the throne, then that's me on the cross. And if that's not the case, then the devil has no fear for you. If you have bitterness in your heart, you don't want to forgive, you have a sin that you really love, that you don't want to give up, then the devil has no fear for you and he has no complaint that you take the name to be a Christ. No, you are not in his way, in his work, as through another thrower, the devil in this world. He is almost glad that you are a Christ. Because a Christ who makes a compromise with the enemy, helps the enemy. A third way, and that is Jesus. And I can imagine that he looks at us and that he thinks, Jesus knows exactly what kind of a Christ you are. Do you know it yourself? I read yesterday in the newspaper, that Jesus is a Christian. It is said that the life of a child of God is so rich, that we can hardly say. I don't say easy, the life of a child of God is not easy, but it is rich. And even if the worst happens in the life of a child of God, then the best remains. And I once read in a little book by F.B. Meyer, there he says, the life of a child of God is like the life in a palace of wealth. And then he says, first rebirth, and then faith, certainty, then surrender of will, complete surrender, then the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and connection with Jesus, self over sin, then peace of heart, and the last, and that is a room that is not for all of us, that is participation in the suffering of Jesus. That is only for the martyrs. Today I want to talk about the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and self over sin. You know, I said yesterday when I came back from the concentration camp, I said to my friends, there are three great realities in life. First, God's ocean of love. Second, God's promises. And third, God's commandments. And I hope that we all get a new perspective on how God has revealed his love most in his promises and commandments. And that we as new people take God's promises and commandments as God himself was serious when he gave us his promises and commandments. And a commandment is not a proposal, it is a commandment. Commandment is commandment. And now one of the most glorious commandments in the Bible, where the Lord has revealed his love, is that the commandment becomes the fullness of the Spirit. Billy Graham once came to a church and they told him, there was an old churchman who came drunk into the church last week. They immediately sent him away. Yes, Billy said, I can understand that, but what do you do with an old churchman who is not full with the Holy Spirit? Do you also send them away? No. He said, but it is the same word in Ephesians 5, 18, Do not be intoxicated with wine, for therein lies only destruction, but be full of the Spirit. Yes, the Holy Spirit demands and wants to come into our hearts, is ready to fill our hearts as the light is ready to fill a room that is open to its shine. But the Holy Spirit cannot and does not want to fill a heart where there are sins that we do not want to submit. I'm not talking about sinlessness here, but you yourself know the big difference when you have a sin and you know it, you are aware of it and you bring it to the Lord and ask for forgiveness and then you will be cleansed of it through the blood of Jesus. But it can also be that you have a sin in your life that you love and you don't want to confess this sin, because you love the sin so much. A woman told me three weeks ago in Austria, I'm still so bound to smoking. I said, but then you have to bring it to my Jesus. No, she said, I don't want that, because I love smoking too much. I would be afraid that he would want to take away my smoking. Yes, you see, that's a sin to hold on to. And if there is such a sin in the heart, then the Holy Spirit cannot fill us. But not only such sins, all sins. Now, when I speak about the feelings of the Holy Spirit, then I must first say that there is no such thing as being fulfilled once and for all by the Holy Spirit. There is no light, just like a child of God who does not look redeemed. A child of God with a long face. Yes, you know, I have seen so many children of God around the world. Some had black, others brown, others yellow, others white faces like us. But it was always the same as here in the church this evening. There were two types of Christians, Christians with round faces and with long faces. What's wrong with your long face? I am so glad that most of you here have round faces. Yes, you say, Corrie, you cannot judge me. You do not know what kind of problems are in my heart. You do not know what awaits me when I come home. But this is not a speech to have a long face. I saw Betsy, my sister, starving in front of my eyes in Ravensbrück. Starving is a gruesome death. But until the end I saw in her face God's love for the joy of Jesus. You know, Betsy was a vine leaf. You can read that in John 15. And there you will read that Jesus says, if I hold you tight to me, then you will bear much fruit, like a vine that is tied to a vine. And then he says, that my joy is in you and your joy completely. And that is even possible if you starve in a concentration camp. No, it is not your difficulties and problems. Our problems are meant by God as the material for his miracles. And if you need a great miracle, you have to submit your impossibilities to God. But they are our sins. Well, I can show you, this flashlight can not give light, because there is only one battery, because on the other side there are bulbs. No wonder there is no light. What are these bulbs? Yes, this first battery is what came into your life when you were born into the family of God. You know, it says in the Bible, those who receive Jesus, he gives them the power to become a child of God. Have you already made this decision? If you have not done it, I hope you will do it tonight. Because I have to tell you, otherwise the message tonight is not for you. The message is for children of God tonight. You do not have to say, well, then I'll go away. Because there is only one step to become a child of God, and that is to receive Jesus. And if you say yes to Jesus and bring him your sins, then the Lord Jesus will give you his life, the eternal life. And he does the miracle that you are born into the family of God. If you want to do this tonight, or do it now, then come to me later. And then we will talk to each other a little. Maybe I can pray with you, and I can answer some questions that are still with you. You know, it is so important that if you say yes to Jesus with your heart, then the angels in heaven will be happy. Because a sinner is saved for eternity. Your soul is very important in God's eyes. The Bible says, that is to go from darkness into light. Yes, it is the greatest, the most important decision for a person in time and eternity. But it is not the end, it is the beginning. If you think that it is the end, then you will be like the little boy who fell out of bed. And his mother said, how did it go? Oh, he said, I fell asleep too close to the place where I went to bed. So he fell out again. When you come into the kingdom of God, and you fall, you fall asleep, you say, now stop, that's all, then you will fall back. No, the moment you come into the kingdom of God, through your rebirth, 17,000 names are written on your name and signed by the Lord Jesus. This is now your checkbook, and now you have to deposit your checks. And one of these is, I will send you the Holy Spirit, and you will be full of the Spirit. And that is the second battery. But now these lumps, this is a feeling of inferiority. Is that a sin? Isn't that modesty? No, that's pride. Imagine that I said to a pastor tonight, oh, I'm so sorry, but really, I can't speak for these people. I'm not a pastor, I'm just a watchmaker, I'm just Corrie ten Boom. What would that mean? That would mean that I wanted to shine more than Corrie ten Boom. That I didn't accept that I was just Corrie ten Boom. What is that? That's pride. And when you feel inferiority, that's pride. That's not accepting that you're just you. And a child of God doesn't need to give room for a feeling of inferiority. The Bible tells us that the one who knew of no sin made God a sin for us, that we become God's justice in him. We are what we are in Jesus Christ, God's justice. Then there's no need to give room for a feeling of inferiority. This is not being able to forgive. Can you forgive and forget? I can't, but Jesus can. Can you forgive the man or the woman who buries your work in the kingdom of God? Can you forgive the one who steals your good name by speaking ill of you? There are very decent people who never want to steal a penny, but they're ashamed not to steal a good name. Can you forgive such a person? I can't, but Jesus can. Don't you want it? Then read this evening together with St. Jesus, Matthew 6, 14. If you don't forgive, my Father in heaven will not forgive you. It's very, very clear. I tried to theologize it, but I couldn't. It's so clear. I have a very dirty lump. That's hate. Where did you hate? I hated. When I was in the concentration camp, I had to bring my sister to a mental hospital. And when I went away and looked around again, I saw that a sick sister was swallowing herself. And I hated the sick sister. The night after, Betsy died. I thought I had overcome this hatred. But a few years ago I was in Germany and in a very small congregation, in a house, I saw a woman who didn't want to see me. I asked my hostess, who is this woman? Can't you recognize her? The woman was a sick sister in Ravensbrück. I looked at her, and suddenly I saw her. That's the sister who beat Betsy on her deathbed. And at the same moment, I felt the hatred in my heart again. Then I became very ashamed. I know from the Bible what the Lord Jesus did with my sins. It is written in the Bible that he throws our sins, when we bring them to him, into the depths of the sea. Forgiven and forgotten. And I'm sure, it's not written in the Bible, but I believe that he makes a poster that says, fishing is forbidden. That's what Jesus does. And what did I do? For ten years, in my subconscious, I held my hatred for this sick sister. I was already ashamed. But I know what to do with my lungs. 1st John 1, verse 7 and 9. I said, Father, forgive me, in the name of Jesus, my hatred, my inability to forgive. And the two things that always happen when we bring a sin to God, in the name of Jesus. First, I have forgiveness. And second, the blood of Jesus has purified my heart of my hatred. And when the blood of Jesus does something, then he does it thoroughly. Instead of hatred, I felt love, God's love in my heart for this sister. And after the meeting, I went to her and I showed her in the Bible the way to salvation. And I had great pleasure to bring her to a decision for Jesus Christ. Do you see the miracle? I hated her. Not always consciously, but it was there, in my heart, in my subconscious. I had brought the hatred to the Lord and he purified me with his blood so that he could use me, me, to shine a clear, pure window through which his light could shine into her dark heart. My friends, our sin problem is solved at the cross on Golgotha. But not only because he died for us, but he lives for us Do you want to do something tonight? No, I will not ask you but you will look for the lumps in your flashlight, the sin in your heart. The devil likes it when we always look inside Let's look up and pray, research me, oh Lord. And then the Lord will tell you your sins, confession, guilt, fear of people, disobedience, impurity, not being able to forgive, hatred. And then you do not have to make an apology because the blood of Jesus has never cleaned an apology. But say, yes Lord, it is true, I have a need for repentance in my heart. Yes Lord, it is true, there is impurity in my heart. I am unfaithful in marriage. I myself have compassion or whatever the Lord tells you. And when you have brought all sins to the Lord, then make a new confession and say, Lord, here is my whole life. And then you can trust that the Lord will fill your heart with your Holy Spirit. But remember that God gives his Holy Spirit not to those who believe, not to those who still demand, but to those who obey. And one more thing, the moment you are born into the family of God, the moment you have taken Jesus as your saviour, the same moment the Holy Spirit comes into your heart. Because then the Holy Spirit together with your spirit testifies that you are a child of God. But become full of the Spirit. This is only possible when you bring all your sins to the Lord and surrender yourself completely and then wait for the fullness of the Holy Spirit. And when you have filled your heart with the Holy Spirit, then the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, friendliness, goodness, loyalty, gentleness, self-control. And then you are the light of the world. Then you have a round face. I wanted to say like this flashlight, but he doesn't do it. Oh, I think I forgot a little lump. It may be that we have a very small decent sin in our hearts. Just a little white lie, just a little colorful story, just a little more beautiful than things are. Just a little self-pity. But there are no small sins in God's eyes. And I can tell you that love for a small sin can become a great sin. And in Africa many more people have died because of the small mosquitoes or is it mosquitoes? No, mosquitoes. Because of the small mosquitoes, malaria mosquitoes, than because of lions and tigers. No, small sins can be very dangerous, especially for us decent sinners. And I forgot a lump. Yes. Oh no, it's paper. What is that? Oh, it's a dollar. It's money. Oh, there's nothing wrong with this money. It's not a lump, it's not a sin. It was just in the wrong place. Money doesn't have to be in my flashlight, but in my pocket. You know, it's like this with money. If you have too much of this paper or too little, then the devil brings the money into the heart. But the heart must be filled by the Holy Spirit. You see, now there's light. Do you want to do it? What to do? Do you want to make a clean table with your sins tonight? Then I know that you will have a very good night. Then you can sleep so that you can say there is nothing between God and me. And even if you can't sleep, you can only praise and thank and say, Lord, there is no more lump in the flashlight, there is no more sin in my heart. There is nothing between us. And friends, this is possible for everyone who is here in the church or in the house up there. This is possible for the youngest and for the oldest. Because Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all of us and because he rose. So I actually understood that right away when I was in the heavy class of the school of life when I was in prison. You know, a student in a heavy class of the school learns much more than the class is not too heavy. And I have learned much more in the heavy class of the school of life than in all other classes. And one thing I have learned very clearly and that is what it means that Jesus on the cross did everything for our sins. I was still in prison in Holland when I was brought to a judge for interrogation. He asked me many questions about my degrees, about my free time, about everything and I told him everything. When he asked me about my misdeeds, I did not tell him everything. He knew about eight Jews I saved and maybe there were 800. But when he asked me about my free time, I told him about a work I did among the weak-minded. On the book table you will find a little book called Mind is Not Necessary. And that tells about a little work I did before the war when I found out that the weak-minded cannot enter a church, they cannot understand a sermon and they need Jesus just as we need him. And Jesus died for the sins of the whole world, also for the sins of the weak-minded. And then I had a Bible lesson that they called the church and there I learned that the Holy Spirit is not a high intelligence quotient. The Holy Spirit does not need our mind to reveal itself. I saw that these poor weak-minded would become children of God when they were simply confronted with the living Jesus that everyone loves. The little book is a challenge to bring the gospel to the weak-minded and nervous patients. When I told this to a National Socialist officer, he said, what nonsense! Isn't that a waste of your time? Isn't it worth much more to convert a normal person than an abnormal one? I understood that this was his National Socialist philosophy. But I said, if you knew Jesus, then you would know that he has a great love for all who are despised and small. It is possible that a poor weak-minded has more value in his loving eyes than we both together. There was no answer, but he sent me back to my cell. The next day I was brought back to him. And then he said, you can read this in my little book, then he said, I could not sleep tonight. I always had to think about what you told me about Jesus. I know nothing about him. I have enough time. We have enough time for interrogation. First you have to tell me what you know about Jesus. Oh, that was a chance. Then I could tell him, Jesus is a light in the world that everyone who is in darkness does not stay in darkness. Is it dark in your life? And the man said, dark? There is no light in my life. And then he told me about his problems. And all of a sudden I said, oh, this is not a judge in whose hands my life is. Then I saw a poor human child who did not care about his great problems of sin and death. And I could bring him the good news and tell him, when you receive Jesus, he will bring you into contact with an ocean of God's love. After me my sister came to interrogation. With great joy she showed her faith. And when she was finished she said, it is important to speak of the Lord. It is more important to speak to him. Do you allow me to pray with you? And he said, yes. And she prayed with him. She, the prisoner, with her judge. Four times Betsy came to interrogation. She prayed with him four times. Betsy died in prison. But after the war I met this judge again. He is now a personal friend of mine. He lives there in Bremen. And he told me, never in my life can I forget your sister's prayers. My nephew, Peter von Worden, who was my help because he wanted to play the organ was also arrested with me. And he also came to interrogation. And the judge asked, Peter, do you think that the war will give a better world? I think that he wanted to give him an opportunity to say, yes, National Socialism will give a better world. But Peter said, no. A war is never a blessing. Now do you think that there is a better world? In the future, he said. And Peter said, yes. A much better world Jesus said, I come and do all things new. And then this earth will be covered with the knowledge of the Lord as the water covers the bottom of the sea. And the judge was amazed and said, yes, yes, yes, I believe that too. Peter said, yes. Are you ready to come for Jesus? But all these signs God needed to touch the heart of this man. And I experienced that because there was a terrible moment during the interrogation. The judge showed me papers that were found in my house. And to my horror I read names, addresses and specialties that could be called my death sentence. And the death sentence of my relatives and my friends. Some friends were still in freedom. And here was the address. You will ask, how could you be so stupid to have such dangerous papers in your house? But do not forget that the work in the underground work, we called it, to save Jews, together with many young people, almost children. And God bless you for the good work that the children did. But they were not always careful. And so it happened, that these terrible papers were found in my house. The judge said, can you explain these papers? And I could only answer no. I have never felt so miserable. But because the Lord touched the heart of this judge, he knew much more than me, how dangerous the papers were. And he wanted to help us. And he opened the door of the oven and threw all the papers into the fire. Oh, how happy I was! I was 100% happy when I saw that the flames, the terrible, dangerous papers were burning. There I actually understood something for the first time from Colossians 2, verse 14, where it says, Jesus has nailed the school note whose content he accused us of, torn apart, yes, nailed to the cross. Friends, there are very dangerous papers where your and my sins are written down. From the moment we came into this sinful world, when we were into this sinful world with the roots of sin in our hearts, until the moment we die. All sins are written down. But you have no fear at all when you have accepted Jesus as your saviour. Then you can know, certainly know, until you swear I can know that my school letter is torn apart. But if you do not accept Jesus as your saviour, then he is your judge. And I must warn you, friend, if you have never made a decision for Jesus, one day the time of grace will be over. Therefore, if you have not done it today, come to Jesus. Do not try to make a staircase of your good deeds. The way from the Lord Jesus to the Lord Jesus is very far away for a good man. The step from a sinner to Jesus is only one step. So come only with great courage and bring your sins to the Lord Jesus. And then you can say, because it is written in the Bible, I know not to say that a citizen came who bore my guilt and took the bill and counted himself so completely that the whole sum is not the least missing. What a happiness it is to be redeemed. And that is for all of us, because Jesus has fulfilled everything. But the wonderful thing is, he did not just die for us. The cross is empty. He rose up. He lives. And he lives there at the right of the Father. And he is our spokesman, our lawyer. And the Bible says whenever we bring our sins to God in the name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus makes us clean of all sins that we commit. Last week I had dirt in my eyes. Oh, that hurts. But I knew that there was also tears in my eyes. And I just closed my eyes and the tears washed away the dirt. Yesterday I had dirt in my eyes again, but I was not worried. I knew the tears were there to clean my eyes. And if I get dirt in my eyes the tears are there. I have nothing to fear. Last week I sinned. I had the spirit of sorrow in my heart. But I prayed, Father, forgive me in the name of Jesus my unbelief and my worry. And the blood of Jesus made my heart clean of the spirit of sorrow. Yesterday I sinned. I had compassion in my heart. And I said, Father, forgive me in the name of Jesus my self-pity. And the blood of Jesus made me clean of my self-pity. And I know, if I sin again tomorrow, the blood of Jesus is at our disposal. Hallelujah! Jesus lives, Jesus is. We stand, we need the whole armament of God to stand and to win. But the armament is Jesus himself. In him, he in us, we in him. And we have nothing to fear because Jesus lives. But one thing, the moment that you sin, so bring immediately your sins to the Lord. Because if you don't do that, then you have, then you leave ammunition in the hands of the enemy. So I was a while ago in Japan. And I could once speak in a church which I don't like. How wonderful it is that I can speak here so many times. Tomorrow afternoon I hope to speak here again. And I dare to invite everyone who is free. But there I could only speak once. So I asked the pastor, a Japanese pastor, would you please make the liturgy very short. Yes, he said. But of course not. At half past eleven the service began. At half past twelve he was still busy with his liturgy. Then there was a collection and he had a long prayer for the collection. And after the collection again a long prayer. Then I looked at my watch. Half past twelve. And I was very impatient. Now impatience is a great sin. And I said, Father, forgive me in the name of Jesus my impatience. And there at half past twelve I learned that my lawyer was alive. And I can imagine that Jesus said, Father, I also take this impatience of Coritambom on me. And at half past twelve the blood of Jesus cleansed me of my impatience. And I thought, what a blessed collection this must be. Two long prayers. Why did I say half past twelve? Because I don't only have a lawyer Jesus at the right of the Father, I also have a prosecutor, the devil, who accuses us night and day. And it may be that at five minutes after half past twelve he came to God to accuse me. But I have no fear. Because I don't know how this works. It may be that God said, I already know. Cori was here five minutes ago. And when the prosecutor accuses me, Jesus has already replaced me. When he is about to accuse, Jesus prayed for me that God accuses me. That is my conviction. Oh, my friends, we have nothing to fear. But the moment you sin, bring it to the Lord. Then you will be cleansed at the same moment. Then you will become a happy child of God. With a round face that the world gives the answer for the need. But one more thing about sin. If you once brought a sinner to the Lord, then also take forgiveness. And say, Jesus has completely freed me from sin, fear and suffering. Believe now, he has done it. And start thanking right away. It is written, when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive our sins. And he means that. He meant it seriously. And we must also mean it seriously. And then we must not ask for forgiveness a second time. Imagine that I come into my room and that one sits in front of me. I am terribly spoiled here. I always get tea and coffee, especially last night, after what I told about this peppermint tea. I don't get any more peppermint tea here. I am terribly spoiled. Now imagine that I come and that the dear mother sits in front of me and offers me a cup of coffee. Now imagine that I would say to her, I have spoken all evening, my throat is so dry, please don't you want to give me a cup of coffee? Then I would be ashamed. Then I would dishonor her as my hostess when I ask her for something she has put in front of me. I honor her when I say, when I drink it and say, oh, that is good coffee. My friends, when God says, I am faithful and just to forgive your sins, then you honor him to take forgiveness. He means it. The day before yesterday I was in Austria and for the first time I was in such a, yes, it was, in the mountains, there was a small chair and one after the other and they went up like this. Yes, I had the walk together in another, then you were in such a small room, but this was just a chair with nothing else. And then they came there and then you had to sit quickly and then went up like this. And I looked there and suddenly I had to sit on it and there was a little through another. I hadn't given my card yet. And the man said, where is your card? Oh yes, it is here. And then he wanted to stamp it and the others shouted, no, stay here. And another said, no, stay seated. It was just a very small moment, but everything was through another. And so it was really a shock and I was sitting and the thing went like this and like that. And I, down there I saw that it was getting deeper and deeper and I held on very tight and my heart beat very fast. Yes, afterwards the others came and said, oh Corrie, that was such a suffering that we had. I said, oh, I was not at all afraid. Yes, one said, well Corrie, you were not afraid either. Oh no, I was not at all afraid. I had not done so much. Yes. In the evening when I was lying in bed, I thought all of a sudden, oh, that was a lie. And I said, Father, forgive me in the name of Jesus, that I said that I was not afraid. The lie. The next morning, in my quiet time, I thought about it again. And then I said, and then, Father, will you also forgive me that yesterday I was really dishonest. I said that I did not... Oh, thank you, Father, that you forgave me last night. I had almost asked for forgiveness for the second time, for the same sin. That would not have honored the Lord. I could thank him. Yes, I had something else to do. I had to go to the other people and say, I said that I was not afraid yesterday, but I had it in mind. Be right with God and right with people. Right with God by taking the promises and right with people by going to them and telling them and doing good again. And now, what else can I say about the sin? Yes, I have more to say about it, but tomorrow there will be another day. And I just wanted to conclude tonight with the wonderful words of Romans 8. Yes, everything depends on the community of life with Christ. a judgment of damnation. Then the order of the Holy Spirit applies. This is an order of life in Jesus Christ who set us free from the law of sin and death. And what is left to say about all this? If God is so on our side, who can harm us then? He did not spare his own son, but gave him to all of us. How should he not give us all with him? Who wants as a prosecutor to act against the chosen ones of God? God himself is the one who does justice. Who else is there who wants to condemn or condemn? Christ Jesus is there. He is dead, but much more, he has risen. He is the righteous God and he is the one who enters for us. Hallelujah! What a salvation! Amen! Thank you, Father, that you sent Jesus to this world to bear the sins for us and for the whole world at the cross on Golgotha. Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you did it and that you not only died for us, but that you live much more for us and that your blood is always there to cleanse us of all sins that we confess to you. Oh, research us, oh Lord, show us if there is still a sin in our heart, a lump in the flashlight. Is it greed, criticism, righteousness, mood, frivolity, lovelessness, prayerlessness, not being able to forgive? Research our hearts, Lord. Is it jealousy, righteousness, inhibitions, human fear, concern, impurity, dishonesty? Praise and thanks, Lord, that when we confess our sins, you are faithful and just to forgive our sins and that your blood, Lord Jesus, cleanses us of all sins that we confess to you. Hallelujah. Amen.
