Walid Bitar

Walid Bitar (birth year unknown–present). Born in Maasser el Chouf, Lebanon, Walid Bitar is a missionary and evangelist affiliated with the HeartCry Missionary Society, serving primarily in Lebanon and Egypt. Raised in a non-Christian family, he survived the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990), losing his brother to shelling in 1975, which led his family to relocate to Beirut. Struggling with despair, Bitar converted to Christianity in February 1985 after entering a church and hearing a message of repentance. He began ministry work, studying homiletics at a Bible college, and moved to Canada, where he planted the first Arabic Evangelical Baptist Church in Ottawa, serving as a missionary pastor. Bitar’s ministry with HeartCry involves preaching to Syrian refugees and United Nations soldiers in Lebanon, distributing Bibles, and providing aid like blankets and audio Bibles for illiterate refugees. He also supports Pastor Samuel in Egypt, facilitating church transportation and evangelism. His work includes translating at HeartCry conferences, such as one in Upper Egypt with Marc Glass. Married to Rima, he has four sons—Karim, Daniel, Gabriel, and Andrew—and continues to travel to the Middle East for leadership conferences and refugee care. Bitar said, “The joy of my life is preaching the Gospel to those I meet on the streets.”
