Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

He refers to the book of Acts as a pattern for the church, where believers had one heart and one mind, and no one lacked anything because they loved one another. The preacher warns against following those who claim to have the truth but do not demonstrate love for God and others. He encourages listeners to draw near to God, submit to Him, and resist the devil in order to truly love the Lord and their neighbors. The sermon also touches on the consequences of not loving God wholeheartedly and the blessings that come from loving Him.

And then as you continue to walk and you don't get in on the blood, then the powers of darkness, he's in there getting more ground and they get more ground until it chains and bondages and it starts building fortresses in you. And then the diseases come in until you're destroyed. And that's where a form of godliness has been leading us. That's where we've been being deceived. And right now, the Lord's calling out the wise virgins to come and get ready. Get ready to meet the bridegroom because he's coming after a holy, righteous, blameless bride. She's going to have a pure heart. And they say, well, I don't believe I want to come to the marriage supper of the Lamb. I've got this farm down here, Lord. Lord, I've got these oxen down here to take care of. Lord, I've got a family here to take care of. I don't want to have my heart warched. I don't want to sit there all that time and be bored by the word of God and eat that bread that come out of heaven because my heart's really interested in the world and the things of the world. Well, Luke 14 said that's all right. You'll never taste of the dinner. You just show up somewhere where they tickle your ears and be a good tither and help that God out you're following. But you're going to spend eternity in hell. Folks, I want you to know something. When we're talking about blessings and curses, we know what the curses are. Now, right now, God's trying to lead us into the blessings. And the easy way you receive the blessings is to love God and want to be like him. Isn't that wonderful? And it's all grace. Faithful as he had called you, and he'll bring it to pass. You say, well, how am I going to love the Lord with all my heart? You start drawing near and he'll draw near to you. You start submitting to the submitting to God and start resisting the devil and you'll fall all over yourself. I still fall around myself. I'm working through it too. And when I come to the place one of these days where I love the Lord with all my heart, my neighbors, myself, then I'll walk in here and I'll say, be like me. Just what Paul did. And there are all kinds of patterns that get in partial truths and things like that. And they get a little more revelation and it gathered around a bunch of doctrines and traditions. And they say, now, this is the latest right now. Here's a real church and all of them wanting to be patterns. And I'm going to tell you where the pattern is. In the book of Acts, there were one heart and one mind. There's not one of them lacking in anything because the ones who had solar possessions, so that the ones who are in need were not lacking in nothing because they loved one another as themselves. They knew going in what the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ was. And when anyone that gathers around partial truth and leading in slogans and whatever today, and they say, this is it. We're the pattern. You look real closely. If they don't love the Lord with all their heart and their neighbors or self, you can decide in your heart that that's not it. You're going away. You've never been before. The ark is coming through. You're not going to touch it. You're not going to hash it. You're not going to rehash it. You better leave it alone. You better follow after it. That ark's the Lord Jesus Christ. It's going across the Jordan and it's going into the promised land and it'll lead you. You will possess a land and you're going to have rest from all your enemies and you're going to be blessed. Everything you put your hands to coming and going and you will prosper and you will prove that you love the Lord with all your heart. And then with his gospel, his Jesus, his son and his spirit, he'll cleanse your heart as you're approving it and he'll perfecting the love in you that loves your neighbors, yourself.
