Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

This is tape number five in a series. We urge you to listen to all the tapes in the series in numerical order so that the whole teaching can be received and understood. Listening to a part of this series or to the tapes out of sequence can lead to a misunderstanding of the nature, the intent and the importance of this series. But if you want to if you want to build your treasure here on earth then you're going to work for all your comforts here. You're going to go scheme and use all these schemes to out quick and out smart people. See God may have given you a little more intellect a little more strength than somebody else and you're going to use that strength to live for yourself and you'll exploit the ones other people and there'll be people all around you hurting and you'll never see to their needs at all. You'll spend a life in selfishness. You'll go to hell forever. You'll die with sickness and disease and hell all over you. That's the life of those who do not know God. Now i'm reading this out of the bible. Now verse 36 John 3 36 He who believes in the son has eternal life. Let's do this thing. He who For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. But there's more bible to that isn't there? Well you see it right there it says the same thing. He who believes in the son has eternal life but he who does not what? I can't hear you. If you do not obey the son if you don't obey the gospel you now shall not see life but the wrath of God's continuing on you right there. You see the only way that we'd be saved from the wrath of God is by obeying the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 5 and 9 says the same. You don't have to turn there. I'm just going to read it to you. Just write it out for me if you want to. 5 verse 9 says And having been made perfect Jesus he became to all those who obey him the source of eternal salvation. There's another salvation scripture when you obey the gospel. That's the only way you can be saved from the wrath of God. If you come back here to ah ah verse 19 And we see this is the judgment that the light the Lord Jesus Christ is coming to the world and the world loves what? Men love what? They love the deeds of darkness here. They love their selfishness and self-centeredness. Rather than the light. For their deeds are what? Evil. That's what lawlessness is. For everyone that does evil what does he prove he does? What does he prove? He hates the Lord. He hates the light. He hates the truth. And he does not come to the truth. He won't come to the light. Lest its deeds should be exposed. He doesn't want to be exposed. He runs from the light. He runs from the word. He doesn't want to obey God. He loves his idols and selfishness. Verse 21 But the one who practices the truth that's walking in righteousness he comes to the light. Never a jot and tittle in his word that his deeds may be what? He's going to manifest this righteousness and love is having been wrought in God. Now if you look back down in verse 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world. The world's already judged. But that the world should be what? Saved from the wrath of God's law through him. And he who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ is not going to be judged. He's going to be saved. But he who does not believe and obey the gospel has been what? The wrath of God continues on him already. Amen? Now I want you to back up to Romans 2.13 Romans 2.13 For not the hearers of God's law verse 13 are going to be just before God but it's what? I don't hear. I can't hear you. The doers of God's law are going to be justified. Now is that what we know? That the doers of God's law is what eternal life is? I can't hear you. And we're fixing to see that it's instinctively done by those who obey the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and that's what salvation is. Amen? Praise God. Alright, now we're going to see it right there. Verse 13. For not the hearers of the law are going to be just before God but the doers of the law are going to be justified. But when the Gentiles, that would be you and I, do not have the law. We don't have the law. We, what do we do? We do instinctively the things of the law. And these not having the law are law themselves in that they show the work of the law doing what? Does Hebrews 8 and 10 show the law is going to be written in their hearts? And we instinctively do that. See, that's why our conscience bears witness. Amen? Right, that's right. And their thoughts are oddly going to be accusing them or defending them. Amen? Alright, now I want you to turn with me back over to 1 John 3. And I want you to see something right here. I didn't intend to kind of go this way tonight, but I thought we'd just tie this together. 1 John 3. I wanted to intend to go about how we lay down our life. But anyway, we see now that we instinctively do the things of the law. Look at me, folks. Our thoughts are audibly going to condemn us or whatever. Now, if we are walking in love, our heart is not going to condemn us. Amen? Our heart condemns us. See, the law is written on our heart and our heart condemns us whenever we break God's law of love. Amen? See, now, we don't think about the ten commandments. We program legalism. Well, it is legalism if you try to become holy and righteous in any way except through the Lord Jesus Christ because it's impossible to do. It's impossible for you to keep the commandments for the love of the Lord with all your heart and all your sense. That's why it's all grace. Grace has been perverted as a canopy for lawlessness. That's what's leading people to hell. And now that's why the churches were all in place of demons. You can have deliverance, medicine, inner healing. You can have all the other byproducts of the Lord Jesus Christ, but what good is it going to do if you don't deal with why they're there? You know, you've still got the chains and everything. People are not free. We have a measure of freedom when you're being worshiped. Are you being worshiped by the Word of God here? It's causing you to repent from these things right here, isn't it? That's what's setting you free right now. This is how you're sanctified and so you keep on. You keep on. And if you keep on with your heart and you don't, you know, you don't get bored with Jesus and, you know, and the powers that are going to test you and try to get your heart interested about other things and I'd like to show you that the ones that bear the fruit of righteousness and the ones that don't, I'll show you the ones that save and the ones that's not in the Word, you know, a little clearer tomorrow. I want to tell you it's going to get a lot gooder than all the time. Now we see that if our heart doesn't condemn us, we're walking in peace, aren't we? And our heart doesn't condemn us when we're being led by the Spirit of God because you walk with the Spirit and you'll not carry out the desires of the flesh. Look in verse 21. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have what? Confidence for God. And our heart condemns us when we break the law. Now who are we talking about? We have confidence before who? God. One more time. Who's it talking about there? God. We know we're obeying God. And verse 22. And whatever we ask, we're going to receive from who? God because we keep whose commandments? God's commandments. We instinctively keep His commandments and we do the things that are pleasing what? In His sight. Jesus said, I do all things to please the Father. Amen? Now you look there in verse 23. And this is His commandment. That we believe in the name of His Son the Lord Jesus Christ and love one another just as what? He commanded us. To love one another as yourself. Isn't that interesting? Huh? Glory be to God forevermore. This is the reason, look at me, turn back to 1 John 2, 15. This is the reason it says, 1 John 2, verse 15. Do not let your heart love the world. Do not let your heart love the things in the world. If anyone lets your heart love the world, you don't love the Father. The love of the Father is not in you. If you go to the parable of the Word, you'll see that's what the power of the Lord is bringing to you. The Word is the world to seek from the rich and the desirous for other things to steal the word out of your heart so you'll not be saved. It's the love of the world and the love of the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in you. Now what's the opposite of that? Look over in 1 John 2, verse 4. The one who says, I've come to know the Lord Jesus Christ and does not keep the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ is a liar and the truth is not in him. Now watch very closely. But it's the ones that keep the word, the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, in him the what? I can't hear you. A true love of God has truly been what? Glory be to God. Jesus perfects the love of God in you. But if you don't come to the Lord and you're going to continue to love the world and the things in the world, your heart goes, the love of God cannot be perfected in you. The nature of God, if you don't love God what's the work you're going to do for you? You can't be sanctified and worship, be religious, join up and give us some of your treasures that you've got in the world to help God out. Go help somebody build their selfish ambition. Build up his kingdom. Help him build up his numbers. He'll tell you how great you are and you walk in your stiff neck stubborn and rebellion because you're on the road to hell. This might teach you about prosperity or letting you love the world and the things in the world. Watch their signs and wonders as they teach you that. Because you and them are one heart and one mind. Help build their ministry, their name, their reputation. Follow after them. They'll tickle your ears. The more you tie, the better Christian you are. Find the prosperity of the world. Let your heart go after the world and the things in the world. Even though at the very last you're going to be deceived by this. I want to tell you something. It just occurred with me when Bob said it a while ago. I'll go anywhere I can in any kind of a setting. Seminary, I don't care where it is. Anybody wants to hear. I'll just share. I love them. I'll put my arms around them. I'll do whatever I do. When I get in there, I'm going to say just what I'm saying here right now. You can write it down in your little book. If I'm with the Pope or wherever I am or anything, you can say, Brother, he's going to get in there and I'm going to be all things. When I get there, I'm going to say it. And I'm not boasting about that by any means or anything like that. I'm just saying that that's what love is. Love is not love if you don't say what God says. It's the only thing that's going to work. There'll be some people who hear it. There'll be some people who hear it. There's always a handful around here, folks. You know, there's a few of them every place. There's a church in a church. They've been in captivity right now. They're in the kingdoms of men and the powers of darkness. Verse 16, 2 Samuel 16, For all that is in the world, here it is, the lust of flesh, the lust of the eye, and the boast of private life is not from the Father, but is from the world. But the world is passing away, and also the lust of flesh, but it's the one who does what? I can't hear you. It's the one that does the will of God to love the Lord with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. He's the one that's going to what? He's the one that's going to abide forever. Look at 1 John 5. 1 John 5. Verse 2, By this we know that we love the children of God. God said, He's already said this in His commandment that we're going to love one another just as He has commanded us. And verse 2 says, By this we know that we love the children of God when we love God and do what? Observe His commandments. If you don't keep His commandments you don't love God or the children of God. Because why? God's commandments and the will of God is love the Lord and love your neighbor. Amen! Not bless God and curse your neighbor. Right? That's right. Next verse. 3, For this is the love of God. This is the nature of God that we do what? Keep His commandments. There it is right there. Bigger and louder. This is the love of God that we keep the commandments of who? God. Can I tell you the commandments of Jesus? Same thing. When we love the Lord as He loved, when we love one another as He loved us, that's saying the same thing. You don't think Jesus and God say two different things, do you? No. For this is the love of God that we keep His commandments and His commandments are not burdensome. I want you to know His commandments aren't burdensome. You know it's burdensome too. Look at me here, folks. When you have, when you're at ease in Zion, you're walking and talking like the world and here's your doctrine that does not conform you to guidance, when you come and see this in the Bible, you'll say, boy that's burdensome. You know why? Because God doesn't have your heart. Your doctrine has captured your heart just like it did the Pharisees. But if you love the Lord with all your heart, you'll say like Paul, I agree with the law. That's exactly what I want. I want all three of this sin and death that's in my members. Thank God through Jesus Christ. Amen? Love me to God, that's good. And then tell me if you don't see a little grace in this. And so what about the world? Do not love the world the things in the world, but all that's in the world. If you love the things in the world, the world, if your heart goes after them, that's when they let them go. It's a bunch of junk. It's death in your hands. Motorcycles and everything. Verse three, verse four. For whatever is born of God, what is he going to do? He's going to overcome the world. That's all that's in the world. Because he's going to do what? The will of God. Now look over in verse 18. We know that no one who is born of God is going to want sin, but he, Jesus, who was born of God. Now when you say no one born of God is going to sin, you know what that's saying? That's saying you're going to practice sin. Because you know what? Look at me, folks. Look here. Here's how we do it. When we receive the Lord Jesus Christ and we walk with the Lord and we live with the Spirit of God. Bang. When you break God's law, you lose your peace. The powers of darkness move in on you and they're going to shake you and that's how you chastise God. They're his instruments. They stop when he tells them to stop. They go in. They only know. They judge sin. That's the only thing they move on. And when you practice sin, you lose your peace. And then when you lose your peace, you go before God. And I can't tell you how long you're going to be there. I'm not going to put no time, no God, but God will let you get shook a long time so you remember not to get back there again. And we're going to be learning a lot of these things from one another walking in these things. But it's a good time to start. I believe you've already seen enough start. And so anyway, you're going to then when you lose your peace, you know that something's wrong in your heart. It's not somebody else's fault. It's your fault. So you get before God. You repent and you don't practice sin. You keep walking. You fall down. You get back up again. You go, I don't want. And then you're going to have this sweet fellowship with the Lord and it's so precious and it's so good. And then all of a sudden you lose. You stumble again. And you lose that fellowship with the Lord and he leaves you there for a couple of days or a couple of hours or whatever and say Lord. And you know, you just don't stay there and practice sin. You don't go where it will do and you keep on and you keep on and you endure to the end. And the Lord all the time after you suffered a while, the Lord of all grace who called you is going to perfect you. He's going to confirm you. He's going to strengthen you and he's going to establish you. And you're going to suffer and you're not going to look good. And when you go through that wilderness that's what the wilderness walk is. You'll know it's all God everything. And man, it's absolutely zero. I mean, it's not anything up to man except to get in on what God is doing. So now let's just look at it. If you're walking in righteousness, you can say verse 18, we know that no one is born of God is going to sin, practice sin, but he, Jesus, who was born of God, was he going to keep, he's going to keep him. He's going to put a hedge around him right in hedge right there. And the evil one, the powers of darkness are not going to what? You're not going to be able to touch him. Look at me, folks. When you're, when you're confessing your sins and you're not practicing these things right here, the powers of darkness can have no ground to, look at me, they can't touch you. That's how you walk in perfect peace because you're keeping your mind on the Lord. And the evil one doesn't touch you, but that's not the way it is in the world. Look at the world right there, next verse. And we know that we're of God and the whole world lies in the powers of who? Look at me. The world lies in it because they're practicing all these things of unrighteousness. Amen? I can't hear you. Unrighteous. And then we see there in verse 20, and we know that the son of God has come and what's he done? He's given us what? He's given us understanding in other, in order that we might what? Know him. So verse 21, little children, guard your what? Yourself from what? Never let yourself love anything more than God. That is what he said. You better guard yourself from it. Now look in 2 John, verse 4. I was very, verse 4, he's talking about the chosen lady, that's the church. Verse 4, I was very glad to find some of you, where are they walking? In truth. We're walking in truth. Just as we have received commandment, what's those two words? To do from who? The Father. The commandments of the Father leads us to walk in truth, and we do them. Is that right? Does your Bible say do them? Does it say you're going to walk in it? Verse 5, and now I ask you lady, not as writing to a new commandment, the one which we have had from the very beginning. It's not the new commandment, the new one of Jesus, it's the one we've had from the very beginning, that's the law, that we love one another, and this is a love, or this is a God kind of love, that we're going to do what? I can't hear you. What's that word? You're going to walk how? You're going to walk according to the commandments of God. And this is a commandment just we have heard from the beginning that you should what? Walk in it. You're going to walk in it. I can't hear. What's those three words again? Walk in it. You're going to walk in what? Walk in it. You're going to walk in it. Now, back in Romans 3, now we're going to walk in this righteous, we're going to walk in the commandments, you're going to be keeping the commandments, and I just want you to see just real quickly in Romans 3, Romans 3, right here. Here it is. Verse 19. Now, we know that whatever the law said, it speaks to those who are what? Under the law, because the law is not written for righteous men, it's written for unrighteous men. It's those walking under the judgment of God's law. That every mouth may be closed, and all the world is going to become what? Accountable to God, because by the works of the law, any way you figure out, no flesh is going to be justified in the sight of God, because it's only through the law of God comes what? The knowledge of sin. And now, apart from the law, verse 21, it's apart from the law. It's separate from the law. The righteousness of God has been what? Manifested. You know how the righteousness of God is manifested? Put it up there, Frank. Here it is. Here's how the righteousness of God has been manifested. Look at it right here. Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, goodness, gentleness, meekness, temperance, faith, Christ formed in you against such things there is what? No law. And no law against them. That's how you fulfill the law. Die to sin, live to righteousness. The divine nature of God. Amen? Glory be to God! That's good. And then we see it again, verse 2, and now apart, circle apart, apart from the law, the righteousness of God, and see, and we instinctively do the things of the law. Verse 22, even the righteousness of God, how does it come? Through faith. Through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe. Isn't that right? But verse 28, for we maintain that a man is justified by what? Faith apart from what? It's faith in Jesus Christ, the righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ, and this love, God kind of love, is perfected in us. Is that right? Now one last place that I want you to go to, 1 Corinthians 6. I want you to see this. 1 Corinthians 6. Verse, 1 Corinthians 6, and we see it. Verse 8, on the contrary, well let's look at verse 9, or do you not know that the what? I can't hear you. Here's another salvation verse. The unrighteous shall not what? Kingdom of God. Now what are you going to do with all these verses, folks? The unrighteous are not going to carry the kingdom of God. It's the righteous that's going to walk there. Do not be deceived because the unrighteous do not keep the law of God, and we see it right here. Do not be what? Deceived? Neither fornicators nor what? Is that one of the commandments of God's law? It's in there. Nor what? Adulterers. Is that one of the commandments of God's law? Affirmative. Homosexuals. There's another. Thieves. Do not steal. Is that one of the commandments of God's law? Nor the what? Commandments. Is that another commandment of God's law? All the rest of them are the same. Drunkards, revilers, prisoners, swindlers. None of these are going to what? Inherit the kingdom of God. None of them are going to inherit the kingdom of God. It's amazing some of them preach. But that's okay. A lot of people preach. Now verse 11, And such, what's that word? Were. Were some of you, but you were what? Washed. You're washed by the Word of God, and you were what? Sanctified. And it's through this sanctification which comes through the faith of Jesus Christ that you're what? Justified. Glory be to God forevermore. I'll tell you what's the truth. I don't know about how you feel about that word, but I'll tell you what's the truth. I would, I would stay here, I would stay here and teach for two days just to get, not just to be teaching, but to watch the Word to know what it does in you. Amen. The Word all times. See, I'm in already a place right now, all I have to do is just start sharing the Word right now. I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you, oh, it's just going to be so wonderful. Your life is going to be so changed. The Word's washing you. And the Word's washing you, and I'm going to tell you how much stuff's coming off of you. I'm going to tell you what, this is going to be one of the most special times in this meeting. How many of you see salvation? Isn't it clear? Are you playing? This concludes tape number five.
