Sermon Transcription
Well, I'm glad to be back with you again today on Eagle's Wings. It's really exciting to know Jesus. Heavenly Father, would you reveal to us Jesus? Holy Spirit, would you open up our eyes to see the Lord Jesus Christ, how wonderful He is. Father, thank you that you were manifest in the flesh. God was manifest in the flesh as your word says. So, thank you, Father, in Jesus name. Oh, there's so many exciting things happening. I, I, um, last week I closed up by sharing with you how I was believing God for things and had a vision of many years ago to have a camping ministry. And, and we believe that God has called us to the Joplin area. It's just some, sometimes it seems like it's hard to stay there. We just came up to visit here two years, almost two years ago, and, and God has directed us to, to work in an area where I believe He's wanting to take a town of 10,000. And He moved, He's moved me in and four other preachers into this one church. And the things that we're going through to take a town of 10,000 are almost unbelievable. If you, you know, you hear a lot about spiritual warfare today, but we're in it. Almost hand-to-hand combat, what you might say. Demons do not like for God to do things. They've been given directions to discourage, to distract, to destroy. And it's amazing how many people are being used by Satan to, to accomplish his means, to come against Christ. Do you know that if you'll walk in the Spirit and be filled with the Spirit and just let Jesus be your life, you're gonna draw attack from some, it's gonna amaze you, those that will attack you. Because they're really being used by Satan to attack Jesus. They don't like Jesus. So this is why Paul's, or James said, don't think it's strange considering the fiery trial that's gonna come in your life. If you're gonna be like Jesus, then, then you're gonna receive the attack that he receives. I'd like to just say a greeting to those of you out there, and just want to encourage you. You know, I haven't heard from my, our dear old friend, Miss Wilson, up there at Jasper for quite a while. How's Catherine doing? We're just wondering. We just want to stay in touch. We appreciate it when you write us, and when you call, we've been getting calls, and we just appreciate that. If you want to call and talk to me, you can call the radio station. They've got my phone number on the tapes there, but it's just exciting to, to know Jesus. I'm really encouraged by the old woodchopper down south of Joplin that God has given to me. He, he encourages me, and if I need it, I get rebuked, and just praise the Lord for the old woodchopper and his wife. God has a ministry for you, my friend, whatever it is. You know, he's been teaching me in the last year and a half to be a servant, to be a servant. You know, being a servant doesn't come natural. Anything like living in the spirit, the flesh and the spirit, they war against these things, and the flesh doesn't like being a servant, and God is going to take you through different things. Now, I've been thinking about revival, talking about revival. We're in what we call revival season, where we have evangelistic meetings, and we get so-and-so to come in for a week. And so, we drum up business, and we advertise, and, and invite, and hope to get some people saved, and maybe bring a little life in our church, and most of our churches need it. And then, when it's all over, we go back to normal. That's not revival. That's a sham. That's not what the Spirit of God is up to. The Spirit of God and revival, revival is Jesus again. That's actually what it means. Vival, vive, has to do with life. Well, Jesus is life. He says, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes into the Father except by me, and re is again. So, it's Jesus again, and we need to get desperate. What are we to do when we are desperate? What are we to do when we found out that we've been deceived? I've been sharing with you how we've been deceived on so many of these translations. You know, there's, if you take a translation, I mentioned last week, the, the NIV, you, that thing is so close to the Bible, the Jehovah Witnesses use it. I'm surprised they're not using it. Maybe they are. It's about the same thing. It came through the same line, through old Westcott and Hort, and those guys were not spiritual. Matter of fact, they were from the, from the Roman camp, and we've been deceived into accepting translations. Even our scholars have been, we've bought a lie, thinking that the Bible that God gave us, which is the, the, the Bible that's really came down through the Apostles, the King James Version, it's not full of error. It's without error. Now, that's not to say that there might be some words that are a little bit archaic, because of three, four hundred years of change, but this is the Word of God, and one of the things that I've been learning, and going through the book of Jeremiah a little bit, is how we can be so deceived. What are we to do when we're deceived? If you want to turn over to Jeremiah, let me take you through a few things this morning, and and I'm sharing these things with you, so that you'll know that we're in a battle, and that we can lose wars, or battles, I mean. We're not going to lose the war, but you can lose battles. You can lose your church. I know people that have lost their church. Denominations have come in, and the denomination went dead, and they've basically lost their church, lost their building, lost their property. You can lose your pastor, if you're not careful, and you don't guard him, and pray for him, and if you have a godly man for a pastor and his wife, and they love the Lord, and they're seeking to win souls, I would guard them very carefully. I would pray them, for them. I would pray with them, whenever I would do what they wanted me to do, as much as I could, with my schedule, and the family duties, I would be behind them, and encourage them. There are some, no doubt, that need to get out of the ministry. They're a mockery. They're a sham, and the Spirit of God will not be mocked. Whatever a man sows, that he'll reap, but if you've got one, then guard him. Watch out for deception. Now, let me take you through some things on Jeremiah, and one of the greatest areas of deception, and the area that Satan has never given up on, is in the area of the Word of God, and if you remember back in Genesis, the old devil come up, and he said to Eve, yea, hath God said, bringing doubt into her mind about the Word of God. You know, this is one of the things about all these translations that we've got today, is when you get done, you don't really know for sure what was said, what God said. You're confused, and if you're in some place, and there's about three or four different translations, or what we might call translations, when you're done, everybody's just had an opinion, and nobody really says what, knows what God said, and this is what Satan has tried to do, by bringing in all these other translations, is to confuse us, and I have proof, historical and scholarly proof, of how we've been deceived, and it sort of makes me mad, because I went through some, what I call, some very high caliber, high quality training, in this area of the scriptures, and how we got our scriptures, but I was deceived on some things, lied to, and now, as God has opened up to me, and showed me about it, he's really gave me a kick, for not speaking on it, and so I have to tell you, and warn you, about all these translations. The NIV, which is the most popular one, from the very beginning, my spirit was troubled about that one, very troubled, and that, that thing is very deceptive, very deceptive. Did you know that there are a number of doctrinal alternations in the NIV? Although, for the most part, it avoids those most obvious, there are several passages, which have been inaccurately translated. You know what that does? It causes confusion. For example, in Matthew 125, the NIV omits the word firstborn, on a minimum of evidence. Very minimum of evidence from the manuscripts. You know what this is? This is a blow to true Christianity, in that it supports the Roman Catholic doctrine of Mary's perpetual virginity, which is an unbiblical doctrine, and that she had no children by an earthly father, father after Jesus was born, and the NIV, in Matthew 522, states that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment, and the King James States, angry without a cause. Now, God does not set down laws and principles for men, and then go contrary to them himself. And there's, there is such a thing as righteous and holy anger, but the NIV gives the impression that there is not. You know, Psalm 7711 states that God is angry with the wicked every day, and the word literally means to foam at the mouth, to be enraged, to abhor. Compare the, the authorized version in Psalm 711 to that of the NIV. It says, God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day. What a lenient, unauthoritative view the NIV presents on that. And also, let me share with you this, the NIV jeopardizes the deity of Christ when it uses the pronoun he, and states he appeared in a body instead of God was manifest in the flesh. You look at 1st Timothy 3 16. I use that one with Jehovah Witnesses all the time. They got to go somewhere real quick when they get to that scripture. But you can't take the NIV and, and work with a Jehovah Witness, because the NIV just rips apart on the deity of Christ, and the blood. Major things. Well, how can it be so bad? Well, it came from a corrupted, corrupted manuscripts. And we're being deceived in accepting these things, and we read them, and, and I'll tell you something else. We have trouble memorizing the scripture from these versions. We can't. It's just very hard to do, so we're losing scripture memory. There, we've been, we've been corrupted, and all under the guise of scholarship, and I know this may raise the hackles and get some people stirred up, but do your homework. You better do your homework. I've been doing some homework, and I don't claim to be any great scholar or anything like that. But I can study, and I can read. You don't have to be a scholar, a Greek scholar, to use Greek. You can study and dig in there and find what those words mean. My, have we been deceived. Now listen, this is my talking. Now, what does the Bible say? You know that whenever Satan has taken over a people, or a nation, or movement, he does it by working through the deception, and the destroying, and the taking away of the Word of God, and I was going through Jeremiah in the last couple weeks, been going through in Jeremiah in chapter 2 and verse 8. Listen. The priests said not, where is the Lord, and they that handled the law knew me not. Can you imagine having a Bible that was translated by men that did not know God? Well, that's what you've got, if you've got something other than the King James Version. And I'm not trying to be unkind, I'm just trying to be honest with you, and to ask you, have you been deceived? It will affect your life, because there are major doctrinal problems in some of these translations. And I think the NIV is one of the latest, and it's one of the worst. And if I go on and share some more things with you about it, especially in, let me just share this with you. I didn't even really intend on getting on this, but if you look at one, at the examples, and there's just scriptures, there's hundreds and hundreds of problems in it, but when one looks at the few examples, and the inconsistencies of the NIV, if you'd look back on the book as a whole, when you go back to Westcott and Hort, who brought the Vicanus and the Sinaitis manuscripts to authority in 1881, and they made 5,337 deviations in their own Greek text from the Texas Receptus, which is where we get our King James. Now listen, over 5,000 deviations, different from the King James. There's something wrong. There's some major, major problems. Now, the King James is what God has blessed, and again, I'm not saying that it's perfect in the sense of the language and everything, but it's without error. You can trust it. There's some words you might have to go look up in your concordance and to see what they mean today, but it's without error. You can't say this about the NIV and some of these other translations. And so you have Westcott and Hort, who they were both Roman Catholic men. Mr. Westcott states, listen, he said this, after leaving the monastery, we share our course to, we shaped our course to a little oratory, which we discovered on the summit of a neighboring hill. Fortunately, we found the door open, and it is very small, and went with one kneeling place, and behind the screen was a pita, the size of life. That's a virgin and a dead Christ. Had I been alone, I could have knelt there for hours. Mr. Hort wrote, I have been persuaded for many years that Mary worship and Jesus worship have very much in common in their causes and their results. Well, we we know that the scripture says that only God is to be worshipped, and Jesus was God. Jesus claimed to be God. The Jews took up stones to stone him because he he said he was God. What are we going to do when we're deceived? I believe we need to repent. We might need to get mad, and do some digging into things, but Jeremiah said, they that handle the law knew me not. The pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. My friend, that describes us today. Now, I'm interested in revival, because God's done a work in my life, and I know what it's done in my life, and I've seen what it's done in my friends' lives, and I see what it's done in in the churches where they were, folks were honest enough to admit to God about their lives, and where they were, and I've seen what it can do in a community. I've seen what it can do, and I've seen what happens when when folks walk away from what God is doing, and what happens to. You know, if you if you receive light, and you turn from that light, then it's going to be a lot worse from you, and I've seen churches that have experienced God in a wonderful, wonderful way, turn years later away from what God showed them, and went back to disobedience, and it's almost like Ichabod is written on the church, and you can have it written on your life. You can have it written on your church. We can have it written on this country, and you say, what do you mean? We can have, it is written there, and that's about the truth. The glory is gone. The heathen are raging, and they're they're winning. Listen, in in Jeremiah 2, 11, Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods, but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. That's us today. We've changed our glory. We're changing the book. We're changing God's book, so it fits in with our lifestyle, and so we make it more convenient to us, and to what we want to do. You know, Jeremiah, in in verse 13, there in chapter 2, he said, for my people have committed two evils. They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and have hewn them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. What do you know about the Holy Spirit? Are you conscious of his presence right now? Are you conscious of him working in your life, and leading, and directing, giving you direction on decisions that you need to make? Are you fellowshipping with the Father, through the Son, and by the Holy Spirit? Do you realize he's a person, that he lives within you? You know, they've committed two evils. They've forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn them out cisterns, broken cisterns. You know, it's a cistern. It's a vessel for water. It carries water. It represents the Holy Spirit, so if we don't have the Holy Spirit, what do we do? We get a substitute, and so we come up with these flesh programs, and we're just like Israel, when they copied the Philistines, and brought the ark back in the cart. We're trying to imitate the world, and what we're doing is we're actually backsliding. You know what God says about backsliding? If you go over to Jeremiah 2, 19, he says, Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee. Know therefore, and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou has forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts. You know what I've discovered in the last three years? That God will not be mocked. If you are proud, he knows how to humble you, and he's taken me to the woodshed. But let me tell you, it started back when I was wanting to know him. I wanted to know him for real, and to really walk with him, and know him in a special, spiritual, close way. And as I've done that, he's opened up to me to show me how I've been deceived in so many different ways. If you go over to Jeremiah 3, and verse 15, God had promised Israel, he said, I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. You know why we have so much pride today in our churches? As we have pastors, and I was one of these that's been trained to the hilt, up to our eyeballs and even higher, just saturated with knowledge, without wisdom. We've been taught without spiritual teachers a lot of times, without spirit-filled men. And so what we've done is, we've got a whole generation of preachers that are trained to the hilt in knowledge, but we don't have understanding. We can't get it out of our head, and into our heart, and into our life, and into the shoe leather, and we don't have any effect on our communities. We don't have any effect on our families, because there's no power there. God's not in it. And we elevate those that have more of this knowledge, and we put into the backwoods those that don't, that have the understanding. We say, that's the weirdo. He walks with, sure, he wins souls to Jesus, but he's always talking about obedience to the Holy Spirit, and being filled with the Spirit. And in these other Bible things, we want to go listen to Dr. So-and-so, because he's so wonderful. And when we go out of that meeting, we are just as dry as when we went in. But we say, it was wonderful, but yet it doesn't affect our life. We go back to cheating on our wife. We go back to watching dirty TV shows. We go back to work, and we continue to lie to our boss, and we continue to cheat. What kind of Christianity do you have, if it doesn't change your life? It might be questioned whether or not you've been born again, because the Bible says, therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. The old things have passed away. Behold, new things have come. We have a lot of sham conversions this time of the year. No doubt we have a lot of true ones, too, but we have a lot of false ones. I think it's a very dangerous thing for somebody to walk the aisle, and then you just go up and tell that brother, boy, it's so good that you're saved. He may not have been any more saved than if a dog walked up the aisle. There's got to be a new birth. Have you been born again? You know, Jesus said, you must be born again. Have you been born again? God will give them pastors. You know, in chapter 4 and verse 3, God told them, For thus saith the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your foul ground, and sow not among the thorns. That old foul, hard ground. You know, you get a hard pan underneath there. Those of you that are farmers, you know what it's like. You've got to break that up so the moisture can get down there, so the roots can get down there. You have a shallow crop, a weak crop, and so many of us, God has not been able to break through this old hard crust that we have, and we're hard to others. We're hard to Him. Oh God, God said in chapter 5 verse 1, Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now and know, and seek in the broad places there, if you can find a man, if there be any that execute a judgment, and that seeketh the truth, and I will pardon it. He said, You go look and see if you can find someone. In verse 3, He said, O Lord, are not thine eyes upon the truth? Thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved. Thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than a rock. They have refused to return. Therefore, I said, surely these are poor. They are foolish, for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God. You know, God's judging our country, and if we don't see revival, I believe God's going to destroy our country, and I love this country. I was overseas for quite a while, and when I came back to this land, oh, it was so great to get back. Wonderful to get back to a place where you could have fresh milk, where you could drink the water without too much worry, and that was about going away. But I love America. I gave four years of my life to serve the country, my country in the Air Force, but we're seeing the rampant AIDS virus, and you don't even really know how bad it is, and I don't either. Going on, but I believe that God's going to judge us if we don't turn, if the church doesn't turn to Him. I believe if we'll turn, the whole nation can turn. We're the key, and if the unsaved people really understand how much of a an effect we have on the land, they might really be angry at us. Do you understand that we're playing for keeps? Life is real. There's no reruns. We go through once, and so you better make it count. You better make it right. By the way, today may be your last day on this earth. Are you ready to meet your Maker? Do you understand that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, that He paid the price for your sins, that He shed His blood for your sins? There's nothing you can do that's going to make God accept you. Nothing you can do in yourself, in being baptized, going to church, doing good works. I don't care if your great-grandfather was a Methodist preacher, and I've heard that one so many times. It doesn't matter. The only thing God's going to look and see, did you put your faith in Jesus Christ and trust His shed blood to cover your sins? Were you born again by the Spirit of God? Did you come to a point where you repented of your sins, and you turned to Jesus, and He became your life? The Bible says, He that has the Son has life. He that has Jesus has life. He that has not the Son does not have life. Don't be deceived. God is serious. Now, let me tell you, on the other hand, when you have Jesus and walking with Him, it's the most wonderful thing in the world, to fellowship with Him, to let Him lead and guide and provide, and it's exciting. Matter of fact, you'll become a wonder to those in your church if you begin to live by faith. We've striven to, uh, strove to live by faith for many years, have not had salaries. Very few times have we had a salary, and we haven't, the last time we had any kind of a salary was back, oh, five or six years ago, and it wasn't much of one then. We just, we just live by faith. I like to do carpenter work, and either God will give us the money, or He'll give me some carpenter work. Whatever it is that you're doing, you're to do it by faith. The just shall live by faith, but we better be careful that we're doing what God wants. You know, I want to share this with you, going on in Jeremiah, in verse four. He, listen to this, Therefore, God said, surely these are poor, they are foolish, for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God. In verse five, listen, I will get thee unto the great men, and will speak unto them, for they have known the way of the Lord, and the judgment of their God, but these have altogether broken the yoke, and have burst their bonds. You know what the problem was? They were forgetting, changing, neglecting, doing away with the word of God. Just what we're doing today, with our translations. You know, if you do away with it, you won't hear Him speak. And if you don't hear Him speak, there won't be any conviction. If there's no conviction, then you'll go on in your sin, and do your own way, on your own thing. He said, they have known the way of the Lord, but they have broken the yoke. They refuse to walk with Him. Thus, in verse six, He said, Wherefore, a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evening shall spoil them. A leopard shall watch over their cities. Every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased. Where are you at? You go down to 12 and 13. They have belied the Lord, and said, It is not He. Neither shall evil come upon us. Neither shall we see sword nor famine, and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them. Thus shall it be done unto them. You know, I see us going in America like that. I see God wanting to come down and revive us, and my personal hope is for revival to come in my day. I believe that God wants to do it. I believe that Christ wants to bring a great revival. I believe personally that He's going to rapture the church in that great revival, an awakening. We haven't seen much. It's been 150 years since we've seen God do anything major in our country. Over 150, around 150 years, back in 1859. Are you desperate? Do you want to see God work? Do you want to see God work? Do you want to get away from deception and lies and get back to purity? Where you can get back to fellowship, where you can love one another without hypocrisy, without being pretentious? Do you want to see God work? Well, I better get going. Time's about gone. Some of you may be mad at me. That's all right. Do whatever you want. I really appreciate you. I love you. And Jesus loves you. And in closing, let me leave you with this. Remember, Jesus Christ, the Lord Jesus Christ, is all you need. But, is He all you want? Until next time, may God bless you, my friend.
