We meet with two of this name, one the daughter of Aram, (Gen. xi. 29.) and the other, the daughter of Zslophehad, (Num. vi. 26, 33.) The name is derived from Malkah, queen.
Hebrew ("queen"), or Aramaic ("counsel").

1. Daughter of Haran, and wife of her uncle Nahor (Gen. xi. 29). She bore eight sons, the youngest of whom was Bethuel, father of Rebekah (ib. xxii. 21-23). Ibn Ezra commentary on Gen. xi. 29) thinks that Haran, Milcah's father, was a different person from Haran, Abraham's brother, and consequently that Milcah's husband was not her uncle. 2. Fourth daughter of Zelophehad (Num. xxvi. 33).
(1) Daughter of Haran, wife of Nahor, and grandmother of Rebekah (Gen 11:29; Gen 22:20-23; Gen 24:15, Gen 24:24, Gen 24:47).
(2) Daughter of Zelophehad (Num 26:33; Num 27:1; Num 36:11; Jos 17:3). Many recent authorities are of opinion that Milcah is an abbreviation of Bethmilcah, and is a geographical rather than a personal name.
