A’chim. Son of Sadoc and father of Eliud in our Lord’s genealogy. Mat 1:14 The Hebrew form of the name would be Jachin, which is a short form of Jehoiachin, the Lord will establish.

In Jesus’ genealogy (Mat 1:14) Achim or Jachin (i.e. "he will establish"), contracted from Jehoiachin. The name may express the parents’ faith that God would in His own time establish Messiah’s throne, as Isa 9:7 foretold.

ACHIM (Ἀχείμ).—An ancestor of Joseph, according to the genealogy of our Lord in St. Matthew’s Gospel (Mat 1:14). The name may be a shortened form of Jehoiachim, or it may be for Ahiam (cf. 1Ch 11:35) or Jachin (cf. Gen 46:10).
