Deuteronomy 15:1-23

Deuteronomy 15:11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land. Deuteronomy 15:11 — Comments - Jesus also taught the people to give alms to the poor (Matthew 26:11, Mark 14:7). Matthew 26:11, “For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.” Mark 14:7, “For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.” Deuteronomy 15:15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day. Deuteronomy 15:15 — Comments - God did not send the children of Israel out empty-handed, but full of Egypt’s material wealth (Exodus 12:35-36). Exodus 12:35-36, “And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.”
