Numbers 26:1-65

Numbers 26:1-652. The Second Census (Numbers 26:1-65) The first census (Numbers 1:1-54; Numbers 2:1-34; Numbers 3:1-51; Numbers 4:1-49) showed 603,550 people, and 22,000 Levites; the second census (Numbers 26:1-65) showed 601,730 people, and 23,000 Levites. Not a man of the first numbering (except Joshua and Caleb, 26:64-65) entered the Promised Land. Miriam, Aaron, and Moses died on the borders of the land. Thus the law could not give the people rest (Hebrews 3:1-19; Hebrews 4:1-16). The lesson to be derived from all this is to be found by a comparison of the following passages: Psalms 95:10; Hebrews 3:10-17; 1 Corinthians 10:13.
