Psalms 100
BSASBPsalm 100 is a short song of praise, titled “A Psalm of Thanksgiving” in many Bibles. It calls the whole earth to worship the LORD with gladness, reminds us who He is and who we are, and ends by naming His goodness, loving devotion and faithfulness as the reasons to praise.
Psalms 100:1
The psalm opens with a shout meant for everyone. Worship of the LORD is not only for Israel; every part of the earth is invited to raise a happy, ringing cry to the God who made it all.
BSA: joyful noise (“loud, triumphant”): This is the shout of a people celebrating a king’s victory, not a quiet, reluctant song. earth (“land, world, creation”): The call reaches beyond one nation to all that God has made.
Hebrew: הָרִיעוּ (hariʿu, H7321) — “shout, raise a cry.” The Hebrew word is used for shouting at a battle or before a king. It is a loud, public acclaim for a ruler.

Psalms 100:2
Serving God and being glad go together. Worship is not a grim duty. We come before His face with singing, as people welcomed by a good King and glad to be with Him.
BSA: Serve (“worship, obey”): The word covers both worship and daily obedience, so service to God is the whole of life. gladness (“joy, joyful celebration”): Our service is meant to be joyful, not forced.

Psalms 100:3
True worship rests on knowing the truth. The LORD alone is God. He made us, so we do not belong to ourselves. We are His people, and like sheep we are led, fed and guarded by Him.
BSA: Know (“be aware, recognize”): This is a call to face and acknowledge a fact that shapes everything else. sheep (“flock, those cared for”): The picture is of a shepherd’s tender care, not of helpless animals only.

Psalms 100:4
Now the worshipers move toward the temple. Thanksgiving is the way in, and praise fills the courts. We are told to thank Him and to bless His name, which means to speak well of who He is.
BSA: courts (“of divine presence, holy areas”): These are the open spaces around the temple where God’s people met to worship. name (“fame, renown, reputation”): To bless His name is to honor all that He has shown Himself to be.
Hebrew: תּוֹדָה (todah, H8426) — “thanksgiving, confession of praise.” The word also names a thank offering. Gratitude is something brought to God out loud, not only felt privately.

Psalms 100:5
Here are the reasons for all the praise. God is good, His committed love never ends, and His faithfulness reaches every generation. What He was to our ancestors, He will be to our children.
BSA: loving devotion (“kindness, mercy”): This is God’s steady, covenant love that holds on to His people. faithfulness (“firmness, security”): God’s word can be leaned on and will not give way.
Hebrew: חֶסֶד (chesed, H2617) — “loyal, covenant love.” This one word holds kindness, mercy and loyalty together. It describes God keeping His promises with love.
