25. Isaiah Chapter Twenty-Five

1 min read · Chapter 24 of 62

Isaiah Chapter 25 This and most of chapter 26 consist of the song of praise which will rise from the godly remnant after "the great tribulation," the nucleus of redeemed Israel. There is first a praiseful recognition of God’s faithfulness in view of His relation to His earthly people (Isaiah 25:1), and of His overthrow of the hostile city of the nations, a reference probably to Rome (Isaiah 25:3), while Isaiah 25:2 points to Babylon. All the proud organizations of man are doomed. God will be a stronghold to the poor and needy in the perils and distress of the times of the Antichrist (Isaiah 25:4). The Gentile peoples which remain will come to mount Zion to share the festal provision Jehovah will make for Israel (Isaiah 25:6). The veil that has blinded the nations under Satanic delusions, will there be cast away (Isaiah 25:7). Death will be "swallowed up in victory"; the quotation of this in 1 Corinthians 15:54 shows that resurrection is in view. These who have been slaughtered by the Antichrist and his agents during the great tribulation will be raised to share the reign of Christ. Tears will be wiped away, and the "rebuke" (i.e., the shame) of Israel will be removed (Isaiah 25:8). The godly remnant will celebrate their deliverance (Isaiah 25:9). Moab with its pride and plunder will be utterly humbled (Isaiah 25:10-12).
