Gospel Repentance THIRD YEAR—SUBJECT 20 Gospel Repentance
(READ Luke 24) 1. Author—God. Acts 5:31.
2. Subjects—All men. Acts 17:30.

5. How did Nineveh repent? Jonah 3:10. Our next lesson in the scheme of redemption is repentance.
John the Baptist came preaching repentance; for the kingdom of heaven was at hand. Jesus taught the same. God granted repentance unto life. The goodness of God leads to repentance and godly sorrow worketh repent¬ance. As to the necessity of it Jesus taught "Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish." In the first gospel sermon preached on earth after the Holy Ghost came upon the apostles, Peter commanded the people to repent. As to what we do in repenting Christ gave an example of repentance in stating the case of Jonah’s preaching to Nineveh. We turn back there and find they quit their wicked ways. So in order for a man to repent he must be sorry enough for his sins to quit them.
