After examining the life of Christ and the church he established we now come to examine the law that God requires all to obey in order to be saved.

All agree that the sinner has wandered from God, and must come back to him before he can be reconciled or received back into God’s family. As God makes the conditions upon which the sinner can come and be saved, we now propose to examine these conditions, closely, step by step, so all can learn what God requires them to do to be saved.

Under the old dispensation people had to hear Moses and the prophets, but Moses taught that when Jesus came we must hear him in all things. Deut. 18. So if we learn how to be saved we must hear Christ. In hearing him, I hear the gospel and in hearing the gospel I must believe what I hear. Thus my faith depends upon my hearing, and if a man has Scriptural faith he must have heard the gospel. If I ever come to Christ, where I can be saved, I must start by hearing the word of God, that I may understand it and be¬lieve the same.
