Judges 6:21 Summary
[Judges 6:21 shows us that God is a powerful and mysterious God who can reveal Himself in unexpected ways, as seen in the fire that flared from the rock and consumed Gideon's offering. This event teaches us that God accepts our sacrifices and offerings when they are given in faith, as seen in Hebrews 11:6, which says that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. By trusting in God's power and presence, we can experience His guidance and provision in our lives, just like Gideon did. As we reflect on this verse, we can ask ourselves how we can offer our lives as a sacrifice to God, and how we can trust in His sovereignty and provision, even when His presence is not visibly evident.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the significance of the angel of the LORD extending the tip of the staff and touching the meat and unleavened bread in Judges 6:21?
This act signifies the divine acceptance of Gideon's offering and the authentication of the angel's divine mission, as seen in other instances of divine fire in the Bible, such as Leviticus 9:24 and 1 Kings 18:38.
Why did fire flare from the rock and consume the meat and unleavened bread in this verse?
The fire represents God's divine presence and power, and its consumption of the offering symbolizes God's acceptance of Gideon's sacrifice, similar to the burning bush in Exodus 3:2-4, where God's presence was also manifested through fire.
What can we learn from the angel of the LORD vanishing from Gideon's sight after the fire flared?
This event teaches us that God often works in mysterious and unexpected ways, and His presence can be both revealed and concealed, as stated in Isaiah 45:15, which says that God is a God who hides Himself.
How does this verse relate to the broader theme of God's interaction with humanity?
This verse illustrates God's desire to communicate with and guide humanity, as seen in other instances of divine encounters, such as Jacob's wrestling with God in Genesis 32:22-33 and Moses' conversation with God in Exodus 33:7-11.
