Ezekiel 20:34 Summary
In Ezekiel 20:34, God promises to bring His people out of the places where they have been scattered and gather them back to Himself, using His strong hand and outstretched arm. This is a powerful display of God's love and mercy, similar to how He delivered the Israelites from slavery in Exodus 6:6. Just as God had a plan to restore His people in the past (Jeremiah 31:31-34), He still has a plan to restore us today. By trusting in God's promise, we can have hope for our own lives and futures, knowing that He is always working to bring us back to Himself.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to be brought out 'with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath' in Ezekiel 20:34?
This phrase, also found in Ezekiel 20:33, symbolizes God's powerful and sometimes severe intervention in the lives of His people, similar to how He delivered the Israelites from slavery in Exodus 6:6 and Deuteronomy 4:34.
Why does God need to 'gather' His people from the lands where they have been scattered?
The scattering of God's people is a consequence of their disobedience, as seen in Deuteronomy 28:64 and Ezekiel 20:23, and their gathering is a sign of God's mercy and restoration, as promised in Ezekiel 36:24 and Isaiah 11:12.
How does this verse relate to God's promise to restore His people?
Ezekiel 20:34 is part of a larger promise of restoration, where God will bring His people back to Himself and redeem them, as seen in Ezekiel 36:22-32 and Jeremiah 31:31-34, fulfilling His covenant with them.
What is the significance of God's 'outpoured wrath' in this context?
God's outpoured wrath is a display of His holy justice and a call to repentance, as seen in Romans 1:18 and Ezekiel 7:8, and it is also a necessary step towards the restoration and redemption of His people, as promised in Ezekiel 20:42-44 and Isaiah 48:9-11.
