22This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take a shoot from the lofty top of the cedar, and I will set it out. I will pluck a tender sprig from its topmost shoots, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain. 23I will plant it on the mountain heights of Israel so that it will bear branches; it will yield fruit and become a majestic cedar. Birds of every kind will nest under it, taking shelter in the shade of its branches.Cross References

Ezekiel 17:21 Summary
[Ezekiel 17:21 tells us that when we disobey God, there are serious consequences, and those who are supposed to protect us may not be able to, just like in Ezekiel 17:19-20 where the king's actions lead to his downfall. This is similar to what happened in 2 Chronicles 36:15-16, where the people's disobedience led to their exile. God wants us to know that He is in control and that His word is true, as seen in Isaiah 55:11. By trusting in God and following His commands, we can avoid the negative consequences and experience His love and protection, as promised in Psalm 91:1-2.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the significance of the choice troops falling by the sword in Ezekiel 17:21?
The fall of the choice troops by the sword signifies God's judgment on those who have rebelled against Him, as seen in Ezekiel 17:19-20, where the Lord GOD brings down His oath and covenant that was despised and broken, similar to the judgment in Deuteronomy 28:25.
Who are the survivors that will be scattered to every wind in Ezekiel 17:21?
The survivors refer to those who remain after the fall of the choice troops, and their scattering to every wind symbolizes the dispersion and exile that results from disobedience to God, as warned in Leviticus 26:33 and Deuteronomy 28:64.
What is the purpose of God saying 'Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken' in Ezekiel 17:21?
The purpose is to emphasize that the events described are a direct result of God's spoken word, underscoring His sovereignty and the certainty of His judgments, as declared in Isaiah 55:11 and Jeremiah 1:12.
How does Ezekiel 17:21 relate to the overall message of the book of Ezekiel?
Ezekiel 17:21 contributes to the book's theme of God's judgment on Israel for their sins, while also foreshadowing the hope of restoration, as seen in the imagery of the cedar shoot in Ezekiel 17:22-23, echoing the promise of renewal in Isaiah 11:1 and Jeremiah 23:5.
