Context — The Priests and Levites Carry the Ark
23Berechiah and Elkanah were to be guardians of the ark.
24Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer—the priests—were to blow the trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah were also to be guardians of the ark. 25So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went with rejoicing to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-edom.Cross References

1 Chronicles 15:23 Summary
In 1 Chronicles 15:23, we see that Berechiah and Elkanah were given the important job of guarding the ark of the covenant, which was a symbol of God's presence with His people. This reminds us that God wants us to take care of the things that are precious to Him, just as He takes care of us (as seen in Psalm 121:3-4). We can apply this principle to our own lives by being good stewards of the things God has given us, and by showing reverence and respect for His presence in our lives (as seen in Hebrews 12:28-29). By doing so, we can experience the joy and celebration that comes from being in a close relationship with God.
