John 7

Worrell

1 And after these things Jesus was walking in Galilee: for He was not willing to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill Him. 2 Now the feast of the Jews, the feast of tabernacles, was at hand. 3 His brethren, therefore, said to Him, “Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that Thy disciples also may behold Thy works that Thou doest; 4 for no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to he known openly. If Thou doest these things, manifest Thyself to the world." 5 For even His brethren did not believe on Him. 6 Jesus, therefore, saith to them, 9 And, having said these things to them, He abode in Galilee. 10 But, when His brethren went up to the feast, then He also went up, not openly, but as in secret. 11 The Jews, therefore, were seeking Him at the feast, and said, “Where is He?" 12 And there was much murmuring about Him among the multitudes: some were saying, “He is a good Man;” others were saying, “Nay, but He is misleading the multitude." 13 No one, however, was speaking openly concerning Him, for fear of the Jews. 14 But, it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and was teaching. 15 The Jews, therefore, were marveling, saying, “How knoweth This Man letters, having never learned!" 16 Jesus, therefore, answered them, and said, 17 I speak from Myself.} 20 The multitude answered, “Thou hast a demon: who is seeking to kill you!" 21 Jesus answered, and said to them, 23 sabbath?} 25 Some, therefore, of those of Jerusalem said, “Is not This He Whom they are seeking to kill? 26 And, behold, He is speaking openly, and they say nothing to Him! Did the rulers ever truly know that This is the Christ? 27 But as to This Man we know whence He is; but, when the Christ cometh, no one knows whence He is." 28 Jesus, therefore, cried in the temple, teaching and saying, 30 They were seeking, therefore, to seize Him; and no one laid hand upon Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 But of the multitude many believed on Him, and said, “When the Christ shall come, will He do more signs than those which This Man did?" 32 The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning Him; and the high priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him. 33 Jesus, therefore, said, 35 The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, “Where is This Man about to go, that we shall not find Him? Is He about to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks? 36 What is this word that He said, 37 Now, on the last day, the great of the feast, Jesus stood, and cried, saying, 39 But this He spake concerning the Spirit, Whom those who believed on Him were about to receive; for the Spirit was not yet , because Jesus was not yet glorified. 40 of the multitude, therefore, having heard these words, said, “Truly This is the Prophet;" 41 others said, “This is the Christ;” but some said, “What? doth the Christ come out of Nazareth?" 42 Did not the Scriptures say, that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?" 43 A division, therefore, arose in the multitude because of Him. 44 And some of them were wishing to seize Him; but no one laid hands on Him. 45 The officers, therefore, came to the high priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why did ye not bring Him?" 46 The officers answered, “Never did man speak thus!" 47 The Pharisees; therefore, answered them, “Have ye also been led astray? 48 Did any one of the rulers believe on Him, or of the Pharisees? 49 But this multitude, who know not the law, are accursed." 50 Nicodemus says to them (he who came to Him before, being one of them), 51 “Does our law judge a man, unless it first hear from him, and know what he does?" 52 They answered, and said to him, “Are you also of Galilee? Search, and see that out of Galilee arises no prophet." 53 [And each one went to his house;
